Honestly I feel completely the same...I was excited to get in, but it really feels like a custom map for SC, really clunky. The heroes are just boring. I just couldn't validate playing it over LoL really at all, If I want fast and fun brawling then LoL has gametypes for that too....but honestly the heroes are just dull and the damage is so piddly it very unsatisfying.

Everyone I know who got into the alpha who plays dota or LoL hate this game and have already quit bothering with it. Everyone I know that has never played or doesn't currently play Dota or LoL seem to think it's OK.
Very peculiar indeed.

I played LoL and the original Dota and think it's alright.
I think everyone knows the heroes they currently have are really boring, Blizz has said they plan on adding more interesting ones so we'll see how that goes

I play LoL and Smite and I enjoy heroes. It's not for the same competitive feeling but its fun.

Very peculiar indeed. i get the feeling that it's just a very very different take on the MOBA/ARTS genre. taken on its own merits, it's a fine game, but when compared to DotA/LoL it's just so different and feels a bit dumbed down due to the global exp share and no gold aspect of the game, making individual play not as impactful.
The game is still pretty fun and enjoyable though. I also think the fact that there's like what? only 10~15 playable characters? game gets kinda stale with such a small roster. If/when they add more characters it'll get more interesting, as well.

The more I play this game, the more I enjoy it.
Also I really like getting TL people in my games, I can only think of one game I've lost where I had a TL teammate and it's only cause an ally rage quit ;o
If anyone wants to play, add me in-game: Sonic#1614

Just want to throw my two cents in here and say I've been enjoying this game immensely even in it's larval state. I think it has a very bright future.

It's pretty fun just a bit simple. That may not be a bad thing for lots of people though.
My main problem is I look at heroes like the Mountain King or Uther and I just desperately wish it was WC4...

Had a very funny experience this evening in-game. I was playing Tyrande, laning solo against a Nova (who knows how lanes are supposed to work in this game) and about a minute into the game, I realized we were both doing the "DotA" dance: running up and down the creep wave, taking one step forward, on step back, playing with eachothers skill/attack ranges. Having not played enough league to know, I suppose it's entirely possible, that this isn't unique to DotA, but it's one of those weird things that's never been explained to me, or commented on in a cast or w/e, just something you pick up over time, so it was funny for me to see it carried over and reflected back at me in a new game.

Is this game dead? I remember maybe two weeks ago when there were a ton of people streaming it but now I can't even find one stream?

Stream numbers don't really reflect how many people are playing the game, just who is watching it. From my understanding people are playing and enjoying the game.

Keep in mind Blizzard isn't promoting it too hard at the moment. It's still "officially" in alpha, so I expect the stream-hype train to kick in when the beta goes live.

Probably cause it's down for maintenance today

Just got into the Tech. Alpha, played the tutorial which felt really really smooth. Hoping it looks better graphically though, which is very likely for sure!

Probably cause it's down for maintenance today it's been dead on twitch for some time, the last few weeks its average daily viewership is ~300-400. IdrA and some other retired esports celebrities even tried to tweet out questions on how to improve a HOTS stream and questioned if there is any interest whatsoever.
While I'm personally not interested in the game, I did find it to be quite peculiar that the numbers would drop off because after all it is a blizzard title in early alpha/beta whatever. Hearthstone used to get crushing numbers in the Beta, but for some reason people just aren't interested in streaming/watching the current iteration of HOTS.
edit; as i write this post there are 389 viewers making it the #44th most watched game at this moment.

I guess Blizzard entered the moba market too late for HOTS to make a humongous splash. The online CCG niche seems a lot less saturated currently, making Hearthstone the go-to CCG out there.

The biggest problem for me is that it's not like Hearthstone, where you knew you could get into the beta. People know there are very limited amount of spots to play it right now, and it is not worth the hype for something you know it will take a long time before you get a chance to play it.

I hadn't really thought about it before but I think this is actually very true. If I knew I was going to get a beta invite sometime in the near future I would read up on more and watch some streams. As is with no real date of release (that I know of) I'm just not interested in it for now with Reaper of Souls taking all of my free time.

I don't think I agree with this. The initial hearthstone beta was extremely small and closed and the viewership was still insane. I think it's more about what the poster above brought up , in that Hearthstone really capitalized on a market that hadn't really been fleshed out yet and offered a new, refreshing online CCG in the blizzard universe with a good UI. It was also a remarkable change of pace from blizzards other flagship titles/genres which created a lot of buzz. I mean ignoring HOTS or HS, most games in exclusive alphas/betas seem to enjoy increased viewership because the only way to access the game is through watching streams.
I'm not 100% sure why HOTS has fallen so drastically in terms of twitch viewers, I think it's a combination of the 'moba' market already being tremendously well established between dota and lol, and the game itself not being very entertaining or interesting to watch. I can't comment on the play aspect as I haven't played it myself. Last thought, I think D3:RoS stole a shitload of the HOTS thunder as well. Both games cater to a more login and have fun, 'casual' market and D3:RoS has really taken that role on really well.
