Not sure how many pro MOBA players actually have Battle.net accounts to even get invites. Well, more pro than that. I was aware of most of those but they're not exactly what I had in mind, although Artosis is pretty damn pro at Hearthstone xD. Regardless, thank you for the information! I guess if top players were streaming this in their free time or tweeted about playing it then all the drama buzzards would've gone on a rampage about sc2 being ded and all that, so maybe they're not interested or Blizzard wasn't interested in reaching out to them for the time being. Still, I wanted to check. As someone who has played some DotA 1 way back when and didn't particularly enjoy it, I have to say HotS looks to be a lot more interesting to play and perhaps even fun to watch, but also a lot more infuriating to solo queue.
I can't actually think of many top Pros that stream anything except SC2. The ones streaming HotS now are really the only ones that do casual streams for other games.

While you're definitely right, I don't know how many people would've expected Artosis to delve into Hearthstone in the way that he has. It was certainly unexpected to me, so that's why I wanted to check if anyone's shown the same amount of peculiar interest in HotS since this is also a fun new game that looks to be very casual but still has great depth to it. ^^

Lastshadow streams a lot, he's Diamond 1 in LoL Korea server so should be somewhat competent.

Um, totally offtopic you guys, but did they remove the Other Games forum from the sidebar to the left? I can't see it anymore.

Check your site settings and make sure other games is in the active list.

Yeah, the "Other Games" option is barred for some reason. I can switch it around sure, but it doesn't change anything. Same for LoL (not that I care).
Again, sorry for the off-topic, this is just offsetting.

You need to make sure your Other selection is highlighted. You may have disabled this feature so unclick the checkbox in the site settings to turn it back on if you did.

There's way more trash talk nowadays, no one's just a noob playing for fun anymore, we're all temporarily embarrassed progamers.

Beyond noticing it myself, I watched a short bit of DJWheat's stream where one of his teammates said to only get like 1 skull to prevent the perfect 100 skull health bonus. Meanwhile, the 97 skull golem didn't manage to destroy anything before being focused down by all 5 heroes. Apparently the extra health from the skulls isn't all that significant and it doesn't scale the golems other stats at all....
I think of the maps, the Dragon Knight one is my favorite thus far. The objective seems reasonably balanced in that it is strong... but isn't something that will cause a team snowball too quickly like the cannons or curse imo.
I see a lot of people saying similar things about this map, but I've also seen a lot of teams sending 4 or 5 into the mines, which seems a poor strategy in itself. Why not send as few as possible to max out on xp gain in as many lanes as possible as the rest of your team goes for an objective. When a team sends 5 into the mines it seems a pretty logical counter to just respond by taking EVERYTHING ELSE without contest. I'd like to see teams send a couple down to leave plenty of roaming defense or lane farmers.

I've played a bunch more and my initial post still seems about right. The mines just take too long to clear for the reward... so even if you send one into the mines, the 5v4 situation will spiral out of control and they will do more damage before the mines are completed. The extra experience from the mines isn't enough to negate the extra fort and likely hero kills the team with five can accomplish.
Perhaps even worse is how hard a team can snowball on that map. Once you have a real advantage, combacks for the other team are near impossible. Why? The smaller map means that you can't "sneak" anything as they will maintain the camps and any attempts to steal one will likely result in a 5vX situation with the team in the lead having the level advantage to win that battle. The team that is behind can't use the mines as it takes time and there isn't much space on the main map until the other team is attacking their palace to force everyone back. It is perhaps the most frustrating to play when in a bad position against an organized group. ><
Overall I just wish I can veto the map as it is no longer fun. Especially as there are still people who don't realize the mines are a trap and insist on trying them to the same end result.

Add Nony to that list! He's had some great comments so far.
For my 2 cents, I guess I'm the definition of a casual now, since I'm married and just had our first baby 2 weeks ago. For me, Heroes really hits the right balance. Aside from Brood War, I used to play a LOT of WCIII:ROC dota back in the day and while I love the concept and even like watching DotA2 tournaments, I just don't have the time to learn all the heroes/abilities/item builds anymore, much less to play enough hour long games to have my skill be anywhere close to what I personally find acceptable. Something like Heroes is the sweet spot for me, I know I'll never be top-tier in anything game related ever again (except maybe Civilization), but I also know I'm not without any skill at all. Heroes is something I have the time to learn and get good at, because I can play a couple games while the baby is sleeping and if something comes up, I'll be done with the game pretty quickly. I'm in the alpha and I think it's really fun, I mostly think the social aspect is what needs the most work, I think Idra's comments on that on the Blizzard forums were right on point. I'll be wanting to play even more once my friends get access.
Most of you young hardcore guys will be like me someday, and then you'll understand, lol.

Seems like my post a several hours ago may no longer be valid as Blizzard just buffed the mines: http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/forum/topic/12373217259?page=1#5
+ Show Spoiler +Goal: Shorten the time commitment of clearing the mines. Skeletons now spawn in larger groups and continue to become more concentrated with each event. The number of Skeletons decrease in subsequent mine openings and the skulls are added to the Golem reward.
Goal: Increase the reward for clearing the Mines. Early Golems will mean more while late Golems will remain at the same relative strength. The base health of the Golem has been increased by 37.5%. The scaling health of the Golem was decreased from 750 to 700 per minute
Good conservative change and hopefully enough to make it worth dedicating player time to clearing now.

I am super enjoying this game. Also unbelievably psyched to be in a "technical alpha." even though it's a super-polished beta IRL.
The Specialist heroes are the coolest too. Siege tank and Abathur in particular are really weird and interesting.

I'm surprised how few TLers are in tech alpha... Can we use the "teamliquid" chat in game if you're there?
"/join teamliquid" in-game!
