Lost it in an epic battle against Mihawk?
Anyone thought of the(Most likely insane, but fun to theorycraft) possibility that Zoro has actually already surpassed him and is now just riding along to help Luffy become Pirate king, every battle he's been in so far he has seemed extremely bored, crushing everything in his path without breaking a sweat. He doesn't even bring up the fact that he can't ever lose again etc. anymore, that I can remember.. Should have probably re read before posting this but meh it's all for shits n giggles anyway. So what if he lost his eye but beat Mihawk and is now the strongest swordsman in the world? Could explain his bit of attitude change too!
Would be godlike level of forshadowing too by Oda, as Zoro was the first to show up after the time skip(Getting back over 10 days earlier then any other Straw hat). Could mean he's the first Straw hat to accomplish his goal/dream, espcially seeing as Luffy was the last showing that he(obviously) will be the last to accomplish his goal/dream.
you think Zoro became the best swordsman in the world, defeating Mihawk, off screen?
If that were the case i think Oda would recap the battle later on. I highly doubt that zoro defeated Mihawk. That would be a bummer.
To be frank Zoro hasn't once talked about becoming the best swordsman anymore. There's a very slim chance that it might be true. It's scary to think about.
Perhaps he defeated the boss monkey
Then Zoro is basically acting out of loyalty of luffy now. Holy shit. It also fits his character as the most loyaly die-hard crew.

I assume it was similar to how Rayleigh trained Luffy, first little bit pounding in the basics then left him on his own to develop them etc.
Or they could have done daily duels. And Mihawk would not allow zoro to live and regroup with his crew if he does not defeat Mihawk. Or if that is a bit unrealistic it would be that Mihawk will only let go of zoro if he has proven his skills or he could stand toe to toe with Mihawk already.
That would be pretty cool, either way I hope to get some flashbacks and more info on what went on in that time with Zoro atleast to explain his eye and especially with Robin seeing as she went to go see Luffy's dad(IIRC) could be very interesting to get more info on that.
If this were the case maybe Oda will show this later when Zoro faces a admiral or Yonkou level opponent.
But before everything. Rebecca needs to be a cannon SH member with the flair-flair fruit :D please Oda make her SH
Well if there ever was a time for SH's to have a logia type it's now. Would have been way to OP earlier on but in the New World with basically everyone left to fight using Haki it could happen. Still undecided on if I like Rebecca enough to really want her to be a SH, that being said I wouldn't be disappointed either.
If she were a member of SH it would add to the list of frontline fighters from SH.
She also fights differently from zoro/sanji/luffy in my observation. She seem to almost not feel any fear to any enemy. And unlike the big 3 she doesn't get challenged when the opponent is stronger. Well i don't know that yet but she seems really gutsy.
I mean just look at her opponents in the ring. Burgess and Sabo supposedly massively overpower her. At least for now.
Very true! I think we're getting close to the point of no more recruiting though, this far in the story it's tough to get new characters and give them a good connection to the crew and audience. I'm expecting the next maybe two arc's to really be the last chance for any more SH members to join. But who knows.
And to think that she never really striked anyone out of pure rage. She defeated all her opponent until the finals with just insane speed + obs haki.
If she gets recruited i think she will be the last member along with Jimbei. And the rest that would be with the straw hats will just become traveling companions.

when does Zoro ever talk about it? hes not like Luffy who feels the need to inform everyone he meets i think the last time was on Thriller bark when talking to Kuma and i cant remember the last time before that probably not since Mihawk
Apart from Luffy has any other member of the crew ever stated there dream more than 3 or 4 times? I think the last time sanji mentioned all blue was when they first entered the grand line?

He mentioned that he found all blue when he entered Fishman Island
If we are putting puns aside though i think they mention there dreams every ones in a while.

he defeated the monkeys when he asked for Mihawk's guidance, the boss monkey imitating MIhawk's fighting style with the big 1 sword style was purely anime filler if I remember correctly.

Yeah you are right, she doesn't get challenged, she just gets beat down by 1 hit, like the way Diamante beat her down.

Well, even after beating the strongest it's still a very strange technique. Even for the strongest, actually cutting fire would be something strange to see!
If anyone joins the crew that has logia type powers I bet it will be after more than just the big 3 are shown to be able to use armament haki. Or at least more than the big 3 are shown able to fight a logia.

There is no doubt in my mind about that. THe real question is whether he beat hawk eye yet. Which I would say no but whatever

It's too early to tell that she has zero offensive capability(but that is not impossible though that she really have the power to hit anyone since you she is a girl). She seems like she never hit anyone hard in her life but she is about to become OP with Diamante talking about how they killed her mother. Just watch.

I read a theory once that Mihawk forced Zoro to give up one of his eyes since Zoro's original goal was to beat Mihawk and tha after the training Zoro was able to or close to being able to beat him so by giving up his eye it meant Zoro still had to find a way to beat Mihawk. So essentially Zoro gave Mihawk his eye as part of a deal to balance out the training Mihawk gave him in terms of their promise to fight each other later on.
in all seriousness tho,we will probably see how he lost his eye in a flashback or a dedicated chapter or something. As far as I remember out off all strawhats we know the least about zoros training during the timeskip so there's probably a lot of interesting things that we don't know.

But seriously, they need to sit down and tell us about their stories during the timeskip period ASAP!!
Zoro's back story must have to something to do with Mihawk's past.

I don't buy that theory at all. Mihawk would be damn insulted if zoro had to give up one of his eyes just so he could be even with zoro. That would insult mihawk's pride as a swordsman and he would rather die than be pitied on.
What if zoro found out.mihawk had a tell/weakness on one side only to learn that he was actually already blind in one eye when he 'beat' mihawk. And zoro in a fit of pridr could not accept his victory seeing.it as unfair and.chose to blind himself as well and told mihawk he will challenge him again some other time as he needs to bw somewhere already (end of 2 year timeskip). I think from zoro's character, it is also a possible scenario.
We never see scars on mihawk but what if he lost use of one of his eyes in a battle which is why he agreed to become shibukai? (maybe) i'd say kizaru related battle if i were to speculate.
And zoro also wants to beat kizaru because kizaru ended up disturbing his path to becoming the best.
Their.obs haki (mihawk and zoro) would compensate for loss of vision in eye though.

Just a theory.
has Zoro ever made an excuse? when he was fighting the unicycle dude? when he was fighting Hachi after almost being killed by Mihawk? has he ever made an excuse? why would he accept one from Mihawk? regardless of any handicap mihawk may or may not have Mihawk is at the top of the totem pole even if its not the strongest he could possibly be Zoro would never go easy on him
