Breaking Out Last September, Breaking Out Season 1 launched and spent eight weeks highlighting a different up & coming player in the North American scene each week. After spending some time learning about these players, we watched them duke it out in the Breakout Invitational, wielding a prize pool of over $2,000.
The first season of Breaking Out gave a lot of early glimpses at some great North American Talent. Players like SaroVati, JonSnow, Sonic and Hellokitty have been showing some great skill in various tournaments and qualifiers since. These players from Season 1 were handpicked as talented players in North America who had the potential to do great things. However, we're going to be changing things up a bit as we jump into Season 2...
We're really excited to announce Season 2 of Breaking Out. However, the climate has changed for broadcasting Starcraft since last September, and the old schedule would have a contradicting message if we broadcasted during WCS America on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. So, we're going to change it up! And we need your help to decide what time we should broadcast. Vote for your preference! Here are the potential days for the broadcast.
All Brodcasts are planned to happen at 6:00pm PST/9:00pm EST.+ Show Spoiler +Option 1 (2 days a week) - Thursday = Interview | Friday = XvZ, XvT, XvP, Awesome Game & Funday Option 2 (2 days a week) - Monday = Interview | Friday = XvZ, XvT, XvP, Awesome Game & Funday Option 3 (3 days a week) - Thursday = Interview | Friday = XvZ, XvT, XvP | Saturday = Awesome Game & Funday Option 4 (3 days a week) - Monday = Interview | Friday = XvZ, XvT, XvP | Saturday = Awesome Game & Funday

Are you a player interested in being on Breaking Out? Well before we get into how you can qualify, first you need to register! Registration is an required part of being considered for the show no matter what qualification method you use. So, let's go over how to register.
Submit an e-mail to feardragon64@gmail.com with the following information by February 8th 1) Proof of North American Residency. While Visa's are preferred, we will work with you on a case by case basis if you think you have another valid form of proof. 2) Your best replay that you feel shows off the strongest aspects of your playstyle. 3) A link to your battle.net profile on your main account(will be the only account considered for reaching the ladder qualification mentioned later). 4) A 5-15 minute video of yourself answering the following questions: a) What is your name, age & race? b) What do you do for a living? c) Tell us the most interesting fact about yourself that you can think of. d) Describe your playstyle for us. e) Why do you deserve the chance to be the next breakout player? f) What does Starcraft mean to you?
Once you submit your application and it has been processed, we will respond to confirm or deny it. We are reserving the right to reject applications. However, the main reason we're doing so is to prevent players that already have a good bit of notoriety. Some good examples would be if for some reason Evil Geniuses' Huk or Acer's Scarlett applied, their applications would be rejected because I don't think anyone could argue they haven't already "broken out." If you have any question of whether you would be accepted or rejected, feel free to shoot an e-mail and ask. All applications will be considered by a small committee due to the arbitrary nature of issue.
Similar to Season 1, there will be a total of eight players on the show. In the interest of making qualifications as open as possible to everyone walking the different paths of life, we've opened up three different methods of qualification.
Qualification Methods 1) The four registered players that hold the highest ranking on the North American ladder will be given a spot on the show. This does not mean you have to hold spot 1, 2, 3 or 4 in GM. You just have to be the highest ranked of all those who are trying to qualify. The end time for the ladder qualification will be 11:59pm EST on February 8th.
2) Two separate tournament qualifiers will be held for those unable to qualify through the first method. The first place finisher of both qualifiers will earn a spot on the show. The first qualifier will be held on February 8th at 2:00pm EST. It will be hosted by NanMan and MasterDalk and more details will be available soon. The second qualifier's date will also be announced in the near future. For updates on the qualifiers, be sure to register. Bracket for the first qualifier: http://www.excello.net/tournament/4600/breaking-out-s2-q2/ Bracket for the second qualifier: http://www.excello.net/tournament/4600/breaking-out-s2-q2/
3) If you've been unable to qualify through the ladder or through the tournament qualifiers, one last qualification method is possible. The final two player spots will be awarded via invite. These players will be picked by a small committee and be decided by various factors including the answers given in their application video, performance in various tournaments, etc.
Be sure to remember in order to qualify, you MUST register. Don't forget to before the deadline(BY February 8th, NOT ON the date.
The show eventually leads up into an eight man tournament that has a $1000 base prize pool that has payout even to last place. However, we do take donations for that prize pool to increase. Last season through donations we were able to raise the prize pool an additional $1153.32 through donations. If you'd like to contribute to the prizepool for the next Breakout Invitational, feel free to use the link below to do so!
Big thank you's go out to everyone that has made this possible. From those who helped with the art assets for this season and the last (Noobity, Sybert, MinnyMausGG) to those who have provided feedback and adminstration help(Wyrd, NanMan, MasterDalk), to the all the viewers of the first Season, I extend my thanks for helping to make this all possible. I also want to send a big thank you to all the players working hard in North America! Last thank you to DeadlyGaming for lending their support in the creation of many of the graphical assets.

Looks great! Glad you're keeping this going.

Honestly this is one of the requiements that I'm holding for players. You can get a cheap webcam for 10-20 dollars at Walmart these days. A lot of the point of this show is to give players exposure! That includes being able to see their beautiful faces during an interview. Becoming more than just some faceless gamer tag or disembodied voice!

Hey, quick question- When we email you our ladder account will that be kept private? I've gone through a lot of effort to ladder in anonymity on a barcode. (my real name is on the acc to prove its mine)

For example, if you can show me proof via school report cards that you've been in school at a North American insitute for the past 3-5 years, that would probably be ok. Feel free to just e-mail the address if you have any questions on whether a particular form of proof would be valid.

(my real name is on the acc to prove its mine) This is a tough one. At some point, there will be an announcement of who qualified and through what means. I can say I don't intend to send the link to anyone but I imagine there could be "other" evidence suggesting it's your account. I also considered doing a "qualification period ending" stream and if you really did not want to be mentioned, I would try to avoid mentioning your name during such.

Great to see some great players applying. I recognize a lot of the players, and have even seen a few I'm not as familiar with!
I want to remind everyone to vote for the time slot you'd prefer the show to be at as well. Right now it's pretty close between Thurs/Fri and Thurs/Fri/Sat!
I am also considering releasing an active list of registered players. I will likely do so sometime in the next few days.

Bumping since there's more info on the first qualifier that's coming up this Saturday(February 8th)! I wanted to remind people that if they want to participate in the tournament, they must submit their registration on time! Registration deadline is coming up, as is the first qualifier so hurry!
For anyone that's already registered, I'll be trying to contact you as soon as a page is up to register for the qualifier. Be on the lookout for it!
