My average apm for July was 106. An increase of +27 apm over June's results. I was pleased with that result, especially considering that about half of July's games were done at 80ish apm, before I did that apm spam training thing. Speaking of...
My APM spam training results have been stagnant, which is why I haven't been posting updates. I also haven't been training everyday and thats another reason. Lets just say that significantly less than half my training sessions have been reported here. All the ones I haven't posted have been between 185-205 apm. It feels like I'm stuck in that range for now. I've started to notice that even vs the comp I take moments to watch situations without micro, macro, or even steady spam. A friend suggested that I take a break from it and try again when it isn't feeling like a chore, which I've decided is a good idea.
As a mid-month progress report, through 70 games I've recorded a zerg average apm of 110. My terran and protoss apms are identical at 85 (decided to play as random vs opponents that I know suck, just to keep things interesting), which isn't so bad considering they're offraces, I don't know their hotkeys, hand positions, or build orders very well, and 85 is greater than the 79 I posted for my main race in June.
Hm... I'm 2-4 on ICCup, and I actually fear playing there, lol. I have no confidence whatsoever. Along those lines:
Something that's been on my mind a lot lately is that I can't seem to beat a decent protoss to save my life. Its gotten so bad... today, for the first time in about a month I won a ZvP vs a decent opponent. Here's a link to the replay, just so you can see how lame a win it was. But, a win's a win. I'm happy about it. Just gotta do it more often. I think scouting might be my problem. I need to know precisely when to pump drones and when to pump units and when to make expos and when to tech, etc.
In personal news, while helping my family design and build a fountain for their yard I managed to bash my right hand pretty good. Not just a finger or two, either, I smashed the whole back of my hand. A large area of the skin is colored purple now. It doesn't really hurt though. Just a mild ache.
What other random information can I fit into this blog? Hm, Karl Rove is out of the White House Sept. 1st. I wouldn't doubt that it's so he can sell himself to whatever Republican presidential campaign that's gearing up right now, but here's hoping he's resigning so he can retire.
The Bush administration is rat-tat-tatting the war drums in regard to Iran again. This time the rhetoric is pretty serious, since they're planning on declaring Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. A brief glance at recent US foreign policy shows that this is something that should be of concern to anyone that cares. Harboring terrorists was THE reason the US invaded Afghanistan. Harboring/supporting terrorists was one of the original reasons given for invading and occupying Iraq. In fact, if you care to look back that far, US presidents since John Adams have been using excuses similar to this (though not the exact wording) to justify aggressive war in regions they have interest.
I sincerely doubt the US people want to go to war with Iran, I know I couldn't give two shits about their nuclear energy programs. I hope the Bush administration would not end their stay at the White House by starting yet another needless war. Still, its something important to keep an eye on.
Oh, and the red giant star Mira has been discovered to possess a comet-like tail trillions of miles long that is only visible in the ultraviolet spectrum. Mira is traveling through space at a speed of ~620,000 mph in relation to us (thanks for relativity, Mr. Einstein!).
Good, absolutely random blog today. Weee!
