I did not specifically look for any trot since it's more on the decline in the 80-90s, albeit with more actually produced music thanks to new technology. A decent number of songs made it into my playlist.
(1st album)
This channel is full of 80-90s songs. Korean used to be written vertically and read from right to left until late 90s, hence the lyrics in some vids.
Movies
Note: All of the movies are colored, just couldn't find a pic for some. Links lead to full, subtitled movies on Youtube.
A Small Ball Shot by a Midget (1981)
Summary: A poor family of a midget father struggles to make a living and keep its dignity.
A bittersweet classic with some heartwarming moments.
Parrot Cries with Its Body (1981)
Summary: You wouldn't believe the summary anyway.
Somewhat funny, often NSFW, mostly WTF. The ever present and well shot beautiful Korean scenery and many a NSFW scene turned a dull evening into a bit confusing but still a fun experience.
82 The Woman of Fire 82 (1982)
Summary: This is a remake of the classic "The Housemaid", whatever that is.
A fucked up "horror" including rape, babies, rats, rat poison and, of course, poultry. A few experimental scenes. One scene in particular was pretty powerful (01:51:20). Some NSFW. The kind of horror I can kinda enjoy as I wasn't really scared or at the edge of my seat at any point and slept like a baby afterwards - it's more of a dark themed fucked up story that slowly keeps spinning out of control to a point where you can only laugh. Sometimes it felt a bit too long though. I'll probably go see the original next time.
Spinning the Tales of Cruelty Towards Women (1983)
Summary: Controversial at the time, this is about a young lady who gets raped repeatedly and ends up paying for it.
Quite insightful even after watching a lot of recent historical dramas and movies. Traditional music as the main and only soundtrack? Yes please. NSFW - Ever wondered what that boobie coming from under the hanbok looks like? Well if you're into historical movies and want something more serious, this is as good as it gets. I WOULD recommend this but the story is so simple and predictable and then there's.... MUL. BE. RRY
Mulberry (1985)
Summary: A village beauty knows how to get what she wants, or needs, actually, considering her situation.
Lee Mi-Sook got it all and she stole my heart, too. This one is certainly my favorite out of the bunch. It's just too playful, fun and NSFW to miss out on. At the same time, it's not stupid or totally random like, say, the Parrot. As I was halfway through I knew I'd be coming back to this movie in the future.. it just left me with so many fun memories and random boners.
If you feel like exploring some more, here's milki's post on the 90s:

I have yet to get to that, but judging by the first line it probably sucks.
I guess I'll spend some more time in the 80s, not sure if I want to leave yet or where to go next anyway. If you know of anything particularly noteworthy I didn't list (there's bound to be a lot) please share.
