There are very few things that have stayed constant for me these past few years. They include, but are not limited to, movies, grilled cheeses, and Starcraft. Alcohol is rushing this exclusive frat now that athleticism has moved away, and I’ve heard promising things about the kid, but this isn’t about him. It’s not about movies or my delicious pal, The Big Cheese, either. It’s about my Paul McCartney, Starcraft.
The fact is, Paul and I have grown apart, and I’m not sure why. I still like Starcraft. I even play a game every day or two, at least. It just doesn’t feel the same anymore. Remember when going to a place like McDonalds was an event? You spent the ride there thinking about your order, wondering what toy you were going to get, praying you didn’t have it already. Now, it’s just a convenience. I don’t feverishly rub my hands together as I pull up to the drive thru. Starcraft is starting to feel the same way.
Now when I play, I feel like I’m just going through motions, no matter how fun I try to make each individual game. Its how I imagine Gallagher feels the second before he’s about to smash another watermelon, or how Paris Hilton feels as her boyfriend turns off the lights and switches on the video camera.
Even watching progamers is underwhelming to me now. The leagues are riddled with new faces and maps, and I haven’t been keeping up. Talking to me about Starleagues at this point would be like showing a dog a card trick. I don’t like this at all. I feel like a marriage is breaking up. I want Starcraft to roll over in bed and snap me out of it. (I know I’m really mixing metaphors at this point, sorry)
I need some help rekindling my interest. But for right now, Big Cheese and I are going to go haze the new guy.

it's because SC2 is coming out... or you're just growing up and moving on with your life.
also, you can request a specific toy for your happy meal

take a good long break from starcraft then come back and play some. it's a fun game but it does grow old as you grow older.

You could just go back to the basics. Play 6vs2 and BS 5 people. Its a challenge, and it gives me a laugh or two when i don't want to 1v1. You can also try changing nicks each time you enter and keep bsing the same people. :D
If its not fun, dont play for a while. Play something else or dont play at all. Then one day you will get a proleague game, watch 1st person view and be like "damn i need to play a game".

It's not so much the game, it's the people you play it with. Find people to enjoy it with.

God GoodFriend loses a lot, but he sure as hell is painful to look at when he does. He puts the worst faces ever. Like "Damn i cant believe it" "not again". So frustrating for him lol, he always gets pimped on.

Starcraft is like a drug, though it doesn't mean you can't get sick of it sometimes, but just wait, SC2 is coming :D

"Now when I play, I feel like I’m just going through motions."
Exactly how I feel.

I agree the maps and players change too fast, if you stop checking the results constantly for a month everything will have moved on.

I feel the same way. A game that at one time felt open and limitless to me now feels stale, dull, and predictable. I love Futurama, but I wouldn't be able to handle sitting down to watch the same episode every single day. I'd eventually grow tired of it. Especially if that episode was about sitting in your base making tanks because the Planet Express team had seen oov do it.
This is why the more weird, oddball, piss-off-TL junk they throw into SC2, the happier I am. Give me something fresh and exciting again!
