Anyway, while I was procrastinating, I played 2 pub games today vs people to get a feel for what this training is doing for me. I won both games which wasn't entirely surprising (I've won pubs often enough before ;p), but I did get a surprise. I had 163 and 164 apm in those games, respectively. For someone like me, who's barely had any games over 100apm and averages between 70-80 apm each game, this strikes me as being pretty amazing. What was additionally nice-- and the reason I've been doing this, empty apm doesn't interest me much-- is I noticed I reacted faster to threats and executed more or less what I wanted to micro and strategy-wise... my macro still wasn't quite where I'd like it, though (expanded too slow in the second game, and let executing drop micro distract me from producing units for a short while).
Okay, on to the progress report. Because of the fun micro I performed in the pub games, I decided to micro as much as possible in comp games 11-13, so I spammed hatchery hotkeys much less and I moved units around much more. This seemed to limit me to between 160-170 apm, which is something I'm gonna have to work on if I want to meet the 300 apm goal. I might be able to meet 300apm if I do nothing but spam hotkeys until the comp kills me, but I think the exercise will be more useful if I accomplish things in these games.
Game 14 I teched and built practically everything in the Zerg bag of tricks (excepting greater spire, but oh well). I attacked with everything I had while putting down an ultralisk cavern and defiler's den. The comp used the time it took to destroy it's base to sneak a probe off and make an expo. I hit 200/200 at precisely the moment I destroyed the expo and this probably represents the fastest I've ever hit 200 supply.
Game 15 I went mutaling and killed off every one of the comps probes with muta micro before rushing in with my excess muta and lings to put the comp out of its misery.
Unless being hot and tired affects how quickly you hit buttons, I think I may've encountered a bit of a plateau with the APM goal. I hope I break the plateau tomorrow, though I guess since it took BlueIris close to 2 weeks to do it, I shouldn't expect overnight miracles.
Goals = 300 apm, less than 600 resources.
