1. Download Brood War from FTP (I would recommend using their download even if you own the game already). 2. Download Anti-Hack Launcher. 3. Register an account on the website (verify by email). Then run iCCup Launcher to start Brood War and log in with the same info you used for the website. Use Liquipedia for build orders (click 1on1 race strategy). Also, if you use the search function you can find plenty of other threads similar to this, and probably some for other questions you may have.

As for getting started.... that's no small challenge since I don't think there are a ton of new player around these days. I'd recommend starting with the campaign to get a feel for things (though strategies to win the campaigns aren't really that transferable to 1v1 play.) I *think* ICCUP would be the best place to get started, though you can check US EAST/WEST to see if there are any ums or BGH games still going on. I can't remember the TL clan that was mostly newer/lower level players but that would also be a good place to look for mentors/people to play with.

Understand you are going to lose A LOT of games (and i don't mean 10 or 20) but last time i got back to BW i lost 71games straight on ICCUP But don't give up ! It's an awesome game !

Installing from CDs is not easier or faster. Following Sero's post is the easiest and fastest way. Jonoman92's suggestion is only better if you want to make sure you get all the blizz maps (which nobody plays on anyway).

Not a massive deal but could be good if you want less serious games (as your just starting out) It does if you use a cdkey changer to put a legit cd key in. I would advise avoiding Bnet servers altogether though, may as well get straight on iccup.

also, what race would you suggest me playing? XD Have you played SC2? Most people stick with the same race. The best way though to picking a race is to play games with all 3 races and see which one is the most comfortable, like the one that you feel playing in a natural way. Nothing beats actually playing to determine that. And in the end, is there a guide with builds, etc?? liquipedia is a good place to start learning races, strategies, and what not. TLPD here also has an amazing repertoire of pro game vods to let you see how the pros play. I would avoid most games that occured in the 2012 SPL leagues since that was a fuck up in general with SC2 taking over the KESPA scene. Snipealot has a stream running 24/7 with fpvod of ex pros playing on afreeca server alongside SOSPA tournaments, of which you can watch over at twitch tv or embedded here in the stream section.

My suggestion for what race he wants to play is to play the campaign. The campaign is awesome! and it may even lead to you loving a certain race based on the lore and such which is why I love protoss so much. So that's certainly one way to figure it out.

They aren't necessarily balanced from a pro standpoint.... but they are awesome. Then run it once connecting to a bnet server and it'll automatically patch to the newest version. I mean, this is simpler than dl'ing from ICCUP so don't know why you wouldn't. The patch update may took a while when you first connect depending on your internet speed. Another thing that's difficult is that you can't select different AI difficulties; the AI is permanently on INSANE. You can choose to play against a Terran AI though, since it doesn't seem to have a clue what it's doing.

I've got the original discs, but I remember someday I read that there is no need for example, to install starcraft 1 if you gotta play CCUP (What's that???) So, for a complete newbie like me, is there a guide that shows what must I do to play Sc1? also, what race would you suggest me playing? XD And in the end, is there a guide with builds, etc?? If you're going to play Zerg, a guide is coming... * DRAMATIC MUSIC *

But also really low level players, so it's a mix.
