I really don't like the style of it or the voice actors they choose. Which is kind of lame because Funimation is in Austin and as a result a lot of their normal voice actors are in Texas, so they could have used very experienced anime voice actors for this.
Reminds me of that Dead Fantasy series on youtube except Dead Fantasy still had cooler fights given the differences in budget. Think it looks too much like a video game cutscene rather than an animation work but maybe an actual episode will surprise me.

I'm assuming you're completely clueless about either the size/scope of Rooster Teeth or the cost of hiring professional voice actors.

What budget? All of these (including Dead Fantasy) were done by Monty Oum. And assuming he's actually getting paid money for the RWBY series, this is the first time he's ever gotten money for making his animations.

Honestly, the voice acting will probably be the downfall of the series. When no one is talking it seems pretty good, and then once the casts start talking, I kind of cringe, cause it just doesn't match well at all.

Considering where Rooster Teeth got their success from, I doubt bad voice actor will change much.

I honestly thought Barbara (yellow girl) did a fine job with her voice acting but the person who they used for the guy in bar (jack) just didn't gel at all. Hes not even really on there RvB section so I guess he is just a minor part so it wont matter much though.
The trailers really remind me of Touhou animations as well as seasons 2 and 3 of Nanoha, with the cartridge system. Specifically Fate and Subaru for Red and Yellow respectively. Agree with what others have said so far about the voice acting - it was good until they opened their mouths. I liked R > W/Y > B

I'm very aware of the size of their company. Are you aware that they hired Elijah Wood to voice one of the characters for Red vs Blue? I would be willing to bet it cost a lot of money to get him to voice a character. Also, I'm not asking for them to hire professional actors for every single character in the show, just for terribly voice characters like Red (or whatever he name is).
WTF?! He's been a paid staff member of RoosterTeeth for I believe 4 years now.

On the contrary, Elijah Wood is reportedly a major geek about stuff like this, and seems like the kind of person that would lend his voice to Red vs Blue solely to be on an episode of Red vs Blue. I wouldn't be surprised if he did it for free.
When I look at RWBY trailers, I don't really think about it as belonging to the Anime genre. Maybe that's why I think that it's fine for the voice acting to not sound anime-ish.

That is very unlikely. The odds that a "major" actor would act for free is extraordinarily slim.
Oh man i though it was pretty good until the voice at the end. I expected red to have a much lower pitch and smooth voices instead I get a really high pitch voice. But ya I agree once the voice started getting implanted the series started to seem not as great :/

Well, actually...
“He is a friend of a friend,” explains Burns. “We asked him if he wanted to have a cameo where he would play a marine who had one line and then got shot and killed, because that’s usually the way our cameos work. He was on-board and then we said, ‘Listen, would you be interested in playing the villain?’ So I got the special treat of sitting in a recording studio and watching Elijah Wood record lines. I got to have my ultimate nerd moment and sit there across from the man who’s played Frodo and watch him read lines.”
They might have still paid him, but it's definitely not a situation where you get him just because you can afford him.
