Especially since amazon is the only shop I've encountered where I cannot pay with any of my available options. Interesting. I wonder if stores still pay a small amount to visa/mc in germany if you are charged extra for it? The US stores usually pay like $.05 or $.10 per transaction when you use the debit card with visa/mc.

Stores normally cover those fees. But have a minimum amount (I've seen 5/10€) before you can use those cards.
Edit: it's basically a luxury here in Germany. If you dont want to shop overseas or in other strange countries (I could buy in Korea's gmarket via PP) - you will never need VISA/Mastercard. So banks can get away with it since everyone thinks "I dont need it, you probably dont need it, so if you really want it, why not pay extra?" Banks get greater profit - so why shouldnt they charge for it?

Some of the debits card are Visa/Master verified for electronic use. Yours is one of those. I think most bank outside of the US issue its own debit card/ATM card. US has always been big on credit cards since credit cards are a huge boost for commercial/sales. I have some friends that went broke 'cos they overuse their CC alot. For people with solid income but can't control their urge to spend, its better without a credit card. And if you don't have a solid income, dont bother with CC since you can be in trouble before you know it.

I don't see a single reason why i would want to have one, except that you can't pay for a few things online (most things you can easily pay with paypal). But apparently in the US everyone has them, so US only offers usually mean you have to have a credit card. out of curiosity does that mean most people in europe use only cash/checks? You don't have a debit card? I use a debit card (I don't know what the kind of card is called in english where it draws money from my bank account) for pretty much everything that I buy online and most of what I buy IRL. Most of the persons I know at least have one.

Wow humble is running a THQ weekly sale, $1 for Darksiders and Red Faction Armaggedon or beat the average and get both games + Darksiders 2 and Red Faction Guerrilla. They all come with the soundtrack except Guerrilla and it's an amazing deal if you don't have Darksiders 2 this is the cheapest price it has ever seen. http://www.humblebundle.com/weekly?thq

germany is special anyways since we have our very commonly used "lastschrift" where you give the company your account number and they can just take the money.
no need for credit cards.
|
We germans don't like having havy depts like Americans, thats why we don't use CreditCards. We only buy thing, when we have the money for it.
|
Lol that sounds a bit arrogant. Yeah Americans fucking love having tons of debts ^^ Of course Germans use credit cards too, I use mine a lot, and I dont have any debts and dont buy anything when I cant afford it. For international orders and for some German sites you need to have one, try ordering a flight on the internet without one, on very few sites you have alternatives but those dont work for all bank accounts either
Hmmmm I was never too interested in Darksiders... but for a price like 1$...

Yes we are superior human beings in every way. Cower before us.

darksiders @__@ I heard red faction was pretty good too.. this hb is really tempting but I don't know if they're my type of game(s).
though I did get the last big bundle (because I wanted to upgrade my dungeon defenders dlc to full) and ended up loving super hexagon and beat hazard, both games of genres I normally don't play :p
a bit less than $7, not bad~ might give it a chance. ;d

Red Faction Guerilla is very good in my opinion, Armageddon not that much. I personally also enjoyed the Darksiders game, but there are some people who really dislike them. If you don't already own those games from one of the "THQ is broke" sales, this is definitively a good deal. I must say that it is funny that they also realized that Guerilla is by far the better game compared to Armageddon and put it in the "beat the average" tier of rewards, even though it is the older one of the two.
But still, Darksiders is worth 1$ without question, and DS2 and Guerilla are worth to beat the average without question. Armageddon is meh, but still playable and kind of ok with throwing stuff around.

On topic, does anyone know if steam will have a spring sale? If so, will it be in April or May?
|
There's only a Summer and Winter sale beyond the sales during haloween and stuff IIRC.
|
Weird, I put Baldur's Gate:EE on my wishlist but didn't get a Steam e-mail about it. It went on sale during the weekend and I only got it because I stumbled upon it while playing Civ 5. I had my preferences set to have it e-mail me if it something on my wishlist goes on sale. I'm also pretty sure it didn't go to my spam folder as the purchase confirmation e-mail didn't go there.

GTA 4 & Episodes from liberty city is on sale right now for 7.49. Is this worth getting?
|
I think you can squeeze at the very least $7.49 of fun out of it. I'd grab it!

All the GTA's are for $12

i dont like the new gta games. I need my controller to drive properly, but at the same time i can only shoot properly with a mouse. Also, i hate the slow animations for turning around/taking cover etc.
If you can tolerate console ports, i guess its worth the money, though. Just know that rockstar is making the woooorst console ports.
