this is kind of a more general thing. but how do you deal with mafia wanting to surrender as a host when you have possible 3rd parties?
Like if mafia wants to surrender and there is a third party, do you tell them they cant, but doesn't that give away there is a third party? Or do you just have like a blanket policy of "if third parties are possible, surrenders are not allowed"?
I kinda thought about this for some time when I hosted my last game and I just decided to allow the surrender if mafia called for it since it seemed more fun overall for players rather than forcing mafia to post pointlessly if they didn't think they could win.

I normally dont allow surrenders unless in exceedingly clear circumstances.

oh yeah, about that. You all would have known I hadn't posted anywhere on TL in days while I was alive in this game. Like you say, my RNG stuff wasn't really a scum tell my vanished, to many, was. If I had actually had internet I'd have done something even if it was spread shit while getting bussed. No matter what me being not in the thread was bad for my team.
My play was poor but I'd like to think I could have been useful to scum team if I had been in the thread actively posting; big sorry on that one guys!
Also: I'm really glad that TS won. Though grush, you need to think, you were in lylo with a theoretical chance to win and did fuck all, if you had pushed a no-lynch you could have won (assuming that the bartender had doused scum and scum would shoot the BT, which wasn't the case but w/e) I usually don't mind your play but it took two seconds of analysis to see the one way you could win and you didn't even bother to put that effort in; for once your no-shits-given attitude actually bothered me.
I just have a really strict attitude toward exit posts and stuff like that. You apologizing to your team after dying made me consider that you weren't actually bussed.
I totally see where you are coming from. I just wanted to give you insight into why I would say that. As an active poster who requested mafia in this game I felt I had cheated the other players by vanishing into that hell they Quebec.

I literally don't post after I die regardless of alignment. Ever.

My new policy after this game is to post only a "gg good luck team" no matter of alignment. DrH is totally right that what I said after death could affect how people read the situation and that was totally my fault and it was shitty.

Yeah if you have like a set post you always make, like a "gg" post that doesn't change based on circumstance, that's also fine.
I've recorded a little over an hour of ramblings on LX and scum strategy. Pretty rambly but I'm looking for feedback so the podcast can be as good as it can be. Definitely not talking in my "radio voice" for this one.
I'll try to get streaming links up later tonight and probably start a more condensed podcast thread with an updated OP. Please listen and give any feedback you can, particularly what I need to work on in terms of my voice and the pace of how I talk, or if you want to hear more little solo casts and what you might like to hear me talk about. I hate listening to my voice so let me know about any problems with the sound quality and stuff because I'll probably have to continue using my phone for now. I'm using PCM Recorder on Android.
Topics I cover: 1. Mafia LX (lightly) 2. Discerning/abusing town sentiment 3. How to abuse a players metagame as mafia 4. Null reads/read lists 5. Throwing shade at VisceraEyes 6. Constructing cases as town 7. People post too much
I think that's about it. It's a little unfocused but it's definitely better than other things I've recorded and deleted, or at least it felt that way why I was recording it. It's a start.
It defaults to .wav but I'm uploading it to a stream service. When there is an actual podcast, I will be converting everything to .mp3 and making the file size as small as possible. This was just an off thing for now so I just kinda sat in my car and ranted until I had nothing else to say. I'd be happy to do more rants, I like sitting in my car like a creep at night so if people actually like it I'll do a bit more to hold people over until the podcasts are up to snuff.
and if you're expecting very detailed strong advice it is not there at all
it's actually kinda hard to explain strategies except in very general terms on the fly. when it comes to real casts, I'll be doing a lot of pre-writing and outlining

we need to have a serious meta discussion at some point about how to deal with long signups and huge inactivity
there are a ton of people on tl and the fact that it takes a week to get 25 people and only 15 of them try is a big problem and seems ridiculous to me

You returned at an odd time, Previous to this game signups for games, at least mine, progressed extremely rapidly. Most now seem to be somewhat slower. Probably just a mood or timing thing.
If you guys want more large themed game I will need to see some more "trying" though. It is a ton of work to run a large game, even a normal one.
