austin in obs qt Gonzaw scum.
He made my role. That should have been obvious. My role flipped with hidden ways to gain currency. I was asking him to reveal those when I was talking about my instruction manual. The fact that he said he had a town read on me, but wouldn't reveal the hidden ways to get extra currency makes it almost certain he's scum. Plus, you know, the way he's been playing the game.
dude, I told you in pms I didn't know about them right after you died

I've always been told that a cycle is day/night, and that also fits with the Infestor energy gains. POSTGAME EDIT: I see what you're saying with that, but based on that the creator said, it was supposed to be a gain of 25 per day and 25 per night, for 50 a cycle. That PM just says 25 energy per phase, that he GAINS at the daypost (as I read it). So he gets 25 per cycle, but is only given the energy at the daypost, so it only comes in 50 energy chunks, at least as I read that. The thing is, the terminology is inconsistent. I meant for jcarlson to get 25 energy per day, and 25 energy per night. But GreY was only giving him 25 energy per day+night combined.

Yeah, but I think that was before we finished chatting? Maybe not. If not, I still thought expected different answers from town Gonzaw concerning those powers, but didn't push it enough.
Plus, as far as the thread could tell: (1) you made my role; (2) my role had hidden ways to gain power; (3) you didn't reveal those ways to me; and (4) you thought I was town. Anyone who was mildly-very scummy on you and read my full PM and interactions with you SHOULD have concluded that you were scum. None of us knew that you didn't know yourself what had made it into the final role.

Definitely seems to be key to make it very clear how you want everything to work. I know, like Gonzaw, I included a section of notes to Grey on how things should work, and he notified me of anything that he changed (originally, I had it so that Cpt. Picard could choose scum for a first officer and that scum would still bodyguard him - kill a scum, but then you lose your first officer and the role doesn't get passed down).
In terms of lessons learned for future PTP games, being super clear on how the role works seems like a good idea, and adding some more healing/protective powers seems like a good idea. Most of us went for offense, or gave people the OPTION for defense (except the support role, which had pure defense built in. Any others?), and it meant a very, very quick end to the game.

"You are an Infestor! You start with 25 energy, and gain 25 energy per cycle (So 50 energy at the end of day 1, 75 energy at the end of night 1, etc)"
Maybe the terminology was bad with saying cycle instead of phase, but I gave an example of what I meant, and GreY didn't comment on that in our PM's balancing out the rest of the role.
Meh whatevs.
You are right we could have used more protective roles, though!

The clingy girlfriend was responsible for a death on the first night. In addition the information gambler was slightly flawed in that there was never any downside to picking "Kill opponent" other than having your kill announced (and we can see that didnt end up doing to much to hurt kita). But yea, for PTP (and what I do in general when making these role madness games) is try to make roles that reward good play as best as possible, and try to make them good, but with a catch. I loved the Picard role and might use it in another game. The role acts as a tracker and a 1 shot mason, and rewards you for choosing the correct alignment both because he will protect you, assume your role if he dies, and you can mason him.
Another good role was the Plaguemaster and the 911 Operator. Both gave the town information in very interesting ways.
Not sure if you guys looked at the document, but the order of the games was:
Pick Your Poison Election Pick Your Power Looney Lynching (friend or foe) ChronoTrigger Liar Game Whose Line is it anyway? Witchcraft Death Factory
All pretty self explanitory except for ChronoTrigger. For CT, you would vote, in addition to the lynch, 3 people into a party. These 3 would send a PM to me at night to send the game back in time to a previous theme, or jump ahead in time a few slots. I If there was no consensus, I would just average the choices.

I wasn't confused. I understood the wording. It told me I get 25 energy at day post.
I even PMd you when I got it "lasting to Day 4 is kinda a tall order" referring to the fact that, based on the wording, I would have to get to Day 4 to use my mind control.

GreY, wasn't the 911 operator supposed to have been given an extra visitor for each dead person because of the Dementor role? From the document, it doesn't look like that happened.

I think the flavor worked well, and the order of themes was nice in terms of having relatively simpler themes - PYPsn and Election - when the game was larger and more complicated. I could see PYPower, liar game, death factory, all being REALLY confusing because of how much extra they add to a game that already has a lot of weird stuff flying around.
Thanks for hosting this Grey/hopeless, even though it was a stomp, it was fun to play and delivered on the interesting bits that a PTP game can produce.

I realized that I like the idea of roles in Holy Roman, where they get passed down. Most of the rest was to try and add flavor but keep it from being OP, so you couldn't full-on mason someone and couldn't always rely on track results (especially with the speed of this game).
One thing I was thinking about as this played out was how the power word mafia that you (you, right?) always seem to want to get fully fleshed out and run functions somewhat like Holy Roman. Everyone's got something, and then as kills happen you've got players who are gaining more words/power. For some reason that always seems very complex, and like it wouldn't be friendly to newer players/lurkers/possible anyone, but there's something neat to the idea of powers that can get passed on from player to player.

Really sorry about this game guys. When I inned I still had my previous job with a set schedule. Then I got fired and expected more free toke while I looked for a job, but I got an offer the same day and have worked like sixty hours since getting up.to.speed. Coupled with Valentine's day and her birthday I had no free time.

Thanks for playing everyone. I hoped you enjoyed it and I apologize for being absent for a few days and for not getting all of the signups filled that I wanted. In the next month or so I might host a simple PYP game with maybe a few of these roles if that is something people are interested in.
