Sigh... this was not what I had hoped for Mvp in the last Wings of Liberty GSL season. There goes my motivation for watching the last season of Wings of Liberty. If anyone has not seen the results yet, here they are: + Show Spoiler + Mvp <Akilon Flats> KeeN Mvp <Daybreak> KeeN Mvp <Whirlwind SE> KeeN RorO <Neo Planet S> Mvp RorO <Cloud Kingdom> Mvp Mvp goes 0-2 (1-4) and drops to Code A Round of 48. VODs of last night are available here: You need to be subscribed to GOMTV to watch these VODs, but they are a bit heartbreaking to watch. Here is Team Liquid's recap (the bit which talks about Mvp): On January 31 2013 00:27 TeamLiquid ESPORTS wrote: Only Room for One King – MarineKing advances from Group F while four time champion Mvp is eliminated in final Wings of Liberty season. It's a rare occasion when MarineKingPrime can say he got the better of LG-IM_Mvp. No, the brackets didn't work out in a way that would see the two meet for the eighth time in the GSL, nor did MarineKing finally get his first official win over Mvp in the world's most prestigious StarCraft II tournament. But at the end of the day, MarineKing advanced to the round of sixteen, while Mvp was sent down to Code A. That's worth at least a victory by decision. In contrast, Mvp's initial series against MVP.KeeN started off well, but ended in disaster. Game one was a vintage performance from Mvp, as he turtled up on four bases and steamrolled Keen with battlecruisers in the late game. However, the following games saw Keen get the better of Mvp in two consecutive base trades, with Mvp playing Keen tightly before collapsing due to poorer execution. With Mvp out of the picture, the rest of the night was smooth sailing for MarineKing. Meanwhile, Mvp was sent down to the losers match to face RorO for a second chance. While few players would want to face LG-IM_Mvp with his back up against a wall, RorO ended up playing his best games of the night against the four time champ. With both players facing elimination to Code A, RorO won a clean 2 - 0 victory by overwhelming Mvp at the hive stage of the game. Though it was a disappointing defeat for Mvp, he can still take solace in the fact that no matter what happens in the next two months, he is still indisputably the greatest player of Wings of Liberty. After taking out Mvp, Samsung_RorO advanced to the final match of the night and encountered a familiar situation. Some good news: ASRock will sponser LG-IM. In other news, the IPTL Season 1 2013 Premier Division Group Stage match between LG-IM and MVP has been rescheduled. It will start an hour earlier than planned, so make sure you go tune in. Mvp's GSL Season 1 2013 Code A Round of 48 match will take place between Tuesday, February 5, 2013 and Tuesday, February 12, 2013. He needs to win these matches so he can win the first Heart of the Swarm Code S. EDIT: LG-IM wins 5-4 against MVP in IPTL Season 1 2013 Premier Division Group Stage. This means that LG-IM is through to the Playoffs (to face either StarTale or Evil Geniuses) on either Thursday, February 28, 2013 or Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Mvp did not play against MVP, as expected, but he may show up in a later IPTL match. This also means that LG-IM is topping the group, 2-0 (10-5) and will most likely finish 3-0 considering that the last team is Karont3 (not really a major GSTL contender). Letting the kids have some fun before he returns! Mvp is preparing "new hand" (like in poker, new game/new builds) for HotS x) (if Mvp Code B) gogo surgery!

Rest well in Avalon, my King of Terran, for when you return, the world shall tremble with your presence. Your mouse shall break the tidal waves and open grounds before you; keyboard bathed in blood of those who are lesser than you; monitor sent forth the terror that will bestow upon him.

Hes afraid that he will fall behind if he quits playing for a long time but I honestly think he will be right back in there like when Flash got surgery. It would be such a shame to see him struggle because he cant practice when we all know that he is capable of dominating the entire scene. Surgery on your wrist is quite different from one on your spine/neck. I think all of us here would like for him to get treatment to get better. But Mvp himself has all the information and he has made a conscious decision to keep playing. So I think all we can do is support his decision even though we might not agree with it.

Termed MLG Showdowns, the winner of a Best of 5 match between Mvp and Curious will qualify for MLG Winter Championship 2013. The date has not yet been announced, but it will take place in February 2013. The map pool is as follows (each player vetoes 3 maps): Akilon Wastes Bifrost Cloud Kingdom Daybreak Entombed Valley Korhal City Newkirk City Ohana Planet S Star Station Whirlwind This is exciting - another chance to see Mvp in action. Even though it's against a Zerg, it's not against Life or DongRaeGu, so Mvp will have a fairly decent shot. Hopefully, Mvp will rest enough to be able to take out Curious. If Mvp wins against Curious, we might see Mvp at MLG again (remember that Mvp took 1st place at Anaheim and 4th place at Providence). Personally, I think Mvp can win this 3-2 even though his form has been atrocious lately. Mvp's GSL Season 1 2013 Code A Round of 48 match will be against soO. Honestly, with Mvp's form lately, I am genuinely worried about Mvp's chances... Still, Mvp should be able to crush soO if he's on his game. Cheer for Mvp, guys! Check out the article about the 10 Great SC2 Finals That Could Have Been. It features a section about a potential Mvp vs. MC final. Mvp's match against soO will be on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Mvp TvZ Lifetime: 58.59% TvZ 2012-2013: 50.94% TvZ Last 10: 10% soO ZvT Lifetime: 50.00% Well, here we go again. Mvp is in Code A and he has to fight his way through to make it to Code S in time for Heart of the Swarm. This is one of those high pressure matches - do or die. There is no Up & Down cushion for Mvp, a loss means he is sent straight down to Code B, the land from which even the very best players can fail to advance. A win means he is through to the Round of 32 and the Up & Down safety net becomes open to him. His opponent is KeSPA Zerg soO who plays for team SKT Telecom T1. soO's notable accomplishment is winning the MLG MvP Invitational, but he did it on the back of his strong ZvP. Sure, soO has a great record against Terran foreigners, but against Korean Terrans, soO's record is mediocre. Here is a list of soO's games against Korean Terrans (not counting SeleCT): soO 1-1 PuMa soO 0-2 aLive soO 4-1 BaBy soO 4-3 Flash soO 0-2 Bomber soO 1-0 INoVation soO 0-1 Kop soO 0-1 sKyHigh soO 1-0 Last soO 0-1 INoVation Record against KeSPA Terrans: 10-7 Record against eSF Terrans: 1-5 soO is a KeSPA player, meaning that soO will improve rapidly. However, soO just has not been one of the best KeSPA players (like Flash, Fantasy, RorO, JangBi, Argo, Cure, Rain, and more). Also, soO just does not have that much experience facing the best Korean Terrans. Mvp, on the other hand, has been suffering from bad problems lately. Winning only 1 out of his last TvZ games, Mvp's form has been a disaster. Everyone knows that Mvp has been suffering from health issues, and everyone knows that his play has suffered because of it. However, there are no excuses now - the only thing that matters is winning. Can Mvp pull himself together long enough to crush this KeSPA Zerg? Well, if the Mvp shows up that went 1-8 in Blizzard Cup, 1-4 in GSL Code S, and 0-3 in Iron Squid, then soO will send the King to Code B (for the first time ever). If the Mvp displays even a small fraction of his glory, then that should be more than enough to handle soO. Personally, I think Mvp will really get things together right at the brink of elimination. This isn't the first time he's been to Code A - in fact, he is in Code A quite frequently. However, he has only stayed in Code A once. Season after season, Mvp looks weak and vulnerable as he falls down to Code A. Season after season, Mvp pulls through his Code A matches back into the hardest league in the world. And once in a while (okay, maybe more like once every 3 seasons), Mvp decides to win it all. Prediction Mvp 2-1 soO In IPTL Season 1 2013 Premier Division, LG-IM overcame Karont3 e-Sports Club by a score of 5-2. Mvp did not play, but this means that LG-IM tops the group with a score of 3-0 (15-7). Thus, they will play Evil Geniuses in the semifinals. Here is Team Liquid's Preview: On February 06 2013 07:43 TeamLiquid ESPORTS wrote: LG-IM_Mvp vs. SKT_soO There is always something strange about seeing Mvp fighting for his life in Code A. The winner of the second Nestea award does not belong in Code A, and he will no doubt fight tooth and nail to prove that. His opponent, soO, is perhaps exactly what Mvp could have asked for. To say that soO hasn't performed up to expectations in Proleague would perhaps be somewhat of an understatement, as he is taking loss upon loss in in bewildering fashion. In fairness, soO's best match-up this season has been ZvT where he is currently 3-3, but his wins have not been particularly impressive (beating Thorzain and Last and going 1-1 against Innovation). Mvp did not play the best games of his career in Code S either, but an Mvp with preparation is always a (relatively) good Mvp and a serious threat to any player, especially one with mostly mediocre performances recently. So unless soO immediately shapes up and brings some of the preparation that KeSPA teams are always credited for, I don't think the SKT Zerg stands much of a chance here. SO SAD I'd like to say "Now he'll go get surgery", but I still feel MVP will be too stubborn and is only thinking of doing it post retirement or something dumb. T___T
