1) When it come to proleague, it's the coach and only the coach that take decisions about what player to field, on what map and in what order. The coach also decides who train against who at the gaming house.
2) Stephano doesn't focus that much on GSL. It would be very nice if he can go deep in GSL but he is in Korea first to train and to globally up his level of play. He don't plan to do any special preparation or some kind of special training for his match in group H, just regular training. (mostly laddering) So..... they're not playing him because he doesn't practice well enough? Puma and Zenio had a greater chance to win on stage in the minds of the coaches? It just seem like neglect. Its a poor decision from a competative standpoint IMHO, but undoubtedly its a bad move from the stance of "esports". All for the sake of what? Its one thing if its working, but the team performance is just getting worse. Obligatory Maybe I worded incorrectly, he obviously practice a *ton* when in Korea. But it's regular practice. He won't do some kind of special training for GSL like when you play only against the race of your opponent of your next match with practice partner, analyze your opponent to death etc. So all the excuses said in this thread like Stephano is "exempt of PL because he has to prepare to GSL/ can't play PL because he is focusing on GSL/wan't to keep his strat etc" are probably wrong. No I understood. If GSL isn't the reason why Stephano hasn't played in ProLeague, then it can only be because the coaches aren't happy with his "practice" habits or preparation. Or they honestly think the other players have a better shot at getting them a win. They're wrong. Painfully so. Not really. Specialized training is what SPL is all about, if you can't commit to that then SPL isn't your thing. Besides Stephano (to my knowledge) went to Korea to play in the GSL and to do general training. If you're not gonna commit to the SPL then the coaches don't have an obligation to field you. He's a good player and I'll grant him that but between map specialists and snipers it's better for SPL coaches and teams to field players who are training for the SPL. The issue is that Stephano's non-committed style still fairs much better then some of his teammates fully committed styles. That can place the coach in an awkward position. Bear in mind that some of the maps used in the SPL are also ladder maps which would make it easier for Stephano to transition right? If he's focused on his mechanics especially he'll take games off of good players no matter what but if he fully committed then his coaches would send him out more. Also let's look at it this way, FlaSh for part of his career had to not only rock OSL and MSL but carry his SPL team on his shoulders. If that was anyone else it wouldn't have been done right? Same with JD. JD, FlaSh and Stephano are all excellent players and as such have the ability to slice games off of other people regardless of practice amounts (to a certain extent). Is it fair for the players on the team to be left in the dust with respect to PL if they train for it and lose their spots to someone who stated that he didn't care? i dont think its fair to compare bw flash and jaedong with stephano. i don't think stephano is anywhere near that level of dominance. i mean flash was well flash and jaedong was just a notch below hin Yeah that's not even a close comparison lol Especially since the Kespa players haven't been playing nearly as long as he has. once they do, Stephano will be nothing more then a dishwasher compared to them. Oh please it has been almost a year. The good ones are out there performing up to their potential, the ones who couldnt really adapt ended up in Afreeca or retired. Wait, do you still have faith in Bisu? Stephano fucking revolutionized zvp and zvt. He was the one using ling-infestor while everyone else was stuck in mutaling mutaling mutaling. A lot of kespa pros have copied his builds and look at Jaedong. In his interview he expressed that he has so much respect for Stephano, and said stephano is his role model. He aint no random No.123456 zerg player, and now youre belittling him as a dishwasher?
It's almost been a year you say? Playing a game part time and full time are two completely different things; don't get it twisted. The hybrid Pro League didn't end until Sept 2012. Stephano may have revolutionized match ups but those same match ups can and will be revolutionized once the Kespa players get full grasp of the game. If you understood how difficult playing BW was then you would understand why I made my claim. Sure, these are two different games. But these two different games are built on the same fundamentals. Steph shouldn't have lost any games in pro league. Due to having much more experience with the game, more refined timings, builds, and overall knowledge of the game. The fact that he has lost (regardless of mu) to players he has 2 1/2 years more knowledge and experience then is clear proof that they will surpass him once they gain the same amount of experience. The Kespa players haven't experienced every situation to know how to react properly in each one like they knew how to on BW. But once they gain that understanding then it's curtains for Stephano down the road. Stephano is an exceptional player indeed and has proven himself. But all I have to say is that you vastly under-underestimate the Kespa pros in comparison. Sure, Jaedong praised him. Stephano has been dominate and a top Zerg for a while now. who wouldn't want to praise one of the most dominate players? The one thing that's missing though is that during his dominance he wasn't dominating Kespa team players. Look at when his ZvP roach bust failed against Jaehoon. He looked mad lost on what to do next after it failed because he's used to winning with that push alone. Stay tuned! I like a little rivalry though. Hopefully more foreigners can step up to the plate and prove me wrong.

Prove you wrong? Why would I? You didn't prove yourself right. Until any of Kespa players actually revolutionize anything in SC2 we have nothing to talk about. So far all of your arguments are invalid - many mediocre foreign pros have taken a game or a set off Stephano, even during his best, and at the same time he demolished many top tier Korean pros, such as MC or MVP. Time will show if your imagination of future has any trace of truth.

Definitely the players have under performed..... but the coaches job is to put the players in a position where they have the best chance to succeed.
Starting a series with Puma leading off is just going to demoralize your team and inspire your opponent. Watching him crack again under the pressure just puts more pressure on the next EG/TL player and relieves the pressure on STX. Not playing Stephano is just giving a pass to STX... think of the pressure playing Stephano puts on an STX player.
These are all simple coaching decisions that have gone the wrong way.
Alex Garfield..... fix this! This is a historic season of PL and your team is a laughing stock.

I suggest you reread the sentence about "proving wrong" because It wasn't even directed at you, it was me hoping that other foreign progamers to become as dominate as Stephano. My arguments are invalid to an extent because that extent hasn't occurred yet. You then bring up MVP and MC, forgetting the fact that both had poor results as BW progamers. Which can only mean that the players that have them the poor results will become much better than them in time. Sure SC2 has a different skill set than BW which means that some players may take a little longer to adapt but that doesn't mean that they won't, they'll just need more time then others. All I can say is that, you will see.

Amen, brotha. At least we know for a fact that it's the coach and not so much the players. It's both. Not 100% sure but I heard that the coaches don't know what order the maps are going to be in. There's also a Pro League rule were you have to play one of each race and they don't know who their opponent is until the day before or something. Since Taeja is recuperating the only two terrans EGTL can send are PUMA and Thorzain. Puma practices primarily Planet S. I make that assumption because he's always sent out on that map. So, I'd say that the coach is putting puma in a position where he should succeed. He just ends up getting outplayed same with Revival and JYP. Stephanos priority is winning the GSL. If he continues to play pro league, he will ultimately be figured out and his GSL opponent will learn how to beat him. Jaedong should be sent out more though, there's no excuse for that.

So whats the Score for EGTL without Taeja? Like 1-8 or something?
