Those rules are: A player is eligible to play in the TSL if:
- He grew up in a location without a professional StarCraft scene; OR
- He currently resides in a location without a professional StarCraft scene and is not affiliated with a professional StarCraft team; AND
- He does not have connection lag that would significantly impact quality of play
Under the TSL rules, you and any other foreigner residing in Korea for not affiliated with a pro team may compete in the TLS provided there are no lag issues. But there is no professional starcraft 1 scene in Korea or China or anywhere else anymore right? and no sc1 teams? so doesnt that mean everyone can play if there is no lag? Unless starcraft scene includes sc2 which would also disallow a bunch of other countries. those ex-progamers still play regulary on fish, whitch is a very strong server compared to icc and participate in Sonic's tournaments with their equals. In those tournaments as well as in their ladder games you can tell, that ex-progamers still would outplay every foreigner so it isnt funny anymore. To avoid this problem, die TL Starleagues have always been foreigner only, unlike the Events at sc2. In sc2 the skillgap isnt that big, coz sc2 takes less skill Its harder to tell for China, but most likely the reason here is communication and lag. The chinese scene is supposed to be pretty damn strong, running their own "c-osl", but they wouldnt outclass all foreigners.
yeah I understand that but I'm just pointing out that they cant just use the TSL2 rules since things have changed if they want to exclude Koreans. Also China doesn't seem to be dominating as seen in Gambit's Cup.

I don't know why you wouldn't cast from quarters. 7 Bo3s is one nation war; which elegant does two at a time. And we all know sayle is no stranger to longer casts. We don't exactly have an overabundance of TvTs, and each Bo3 is going to average slightly longer than a half an hour.
Edit: the average length of a Bo3 from Nation Wars was 35 minutes, including casting delays.

Let's talk about other wildly successful illegal things in e-sports while we're at it. wasn't always illegal, but nobody successfully randomed since chrh for a short while (before changing to terran). that one time I went to korea and played a televised game on stage with lots of spectators, in 2005(?), nobody objected to me going random. Because you're white.

Edit: the average length of a Bo3 from Nation Wars was 35 minutes, including casting delays. And that makes it over 4 hours, which is way too long for a qualifier. Remember, this is just a qualifier and we have 6 of them. We don't want to worn you guys and ourselves until we at least reach the main tournament!
Edit: Also, we're not just gonna churn out game after the game with 0 delay. There will be commentary and insights from commentators after each game/series.

I'm fine with shorter casts. Should be long enough and this way the casted games get mor precious. It's a nice goal to get a casted game

I think if possible you guys did some overlay feature so you can just dive into the middle of a game similar to how they do ODT prelims that would be pretty nice, then go back to other games and so on, then you can cast a broader amount of the qual games and don't need to worry about the opening 5-6minutes of every game.

You are acting as if 4 hours is a ridiculous long time, but a 4 hour cast is shorter than average for either of them. We are really worried about "wearing out" if the cast is longer than 2 hours? really?

I'm old and grey and my old bones ache. 4 hours is too long.

If you can't be bothered to cast longer than 2 hours, why are you casting at all?

i respect all the bw casters. but i think elegant and lmaster are the best two atm. suggestion to hackle: focus more on players macro and minimap. dont just stop at some spots for 10seconds^^
|
This isn't about skill, and I'm not suggesting that I should have been selected. Sayle and Elegent are the two best people for the job. But it's a shame that the best BW has is someone who doesn't care anymore.

Anyone is free to cast any games they like prior to the Ro4. All the reps will be publicly available and if you're a trustworthy and well known caster then you'll have no trouble getting on the list of people who are allowed to observe and cast games live.
If you're unhappy about the amount of content available, do something about it.

Would be really cool if hackle could cast some games before ro4! make this into a 6 hour cast; )

If the replays from early rounds are just publicly available, and there are willing community casters, we could potentially get a lot of additional hours of fun BW casts. I'd watch!

the first map neo jade is played when 1024 players signed up or will it be the first map nevertheless? and where can we see the grit? just asking to know which match up and map i should priorize at practice.

if some people prefer a longer cast like hackle maybe tl can arrange that hackle can cast some of the ealier games before sayle and elegant starting with their ro4 casts.

guys who cares, you all can cast the opening rounds. there will probably be lots of people showing replays, but what I suggested was some fancy ODT Prelim casting style!
