Registration closes: Saturday, Jan 12 5:15pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Registration for the next two qualifiers will re-open next week

Qualifiers Information

Due to the overwhelming reception of the TLS, we have adjusted the Qualifiers schedule. This weekend we will be holding two qualifiers. Subsequent Qualifiers will be held on the weekends of the 19th and 26th. The games for this week's Qualifiers will be held:

Saturday, Jan 12 5:15pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Sunday, Jan 13 5:15pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Check-in for each Qualifier is at 16:00 GMT (+00:00), and closes at 17:00 GMT (+00:00) on each day. Be sure to show up and be ready to play your matches!

As mentioned in the initial TLS announcement, there are 24 places attainable through 6 open qualifiers. 12 positions for the two finalists from each qualifier, and another 12 to those who earn their place through the points system.

We want our participants to give each qualifier everything they've got, so aside from the immediate glory and fame they'll receive finishing at first place, we've added another incentive - the first 5 qualifier champions will earn the right to choose which group they'll be slotted into.

Once the qualifying period is over and the 24 positions are filled, 18 contenders will be randomly divided into 6 groups. From there the first champion will decide which group he/she would like to play in, followed by the second champion, then the third until the 6th champion is slotted into the remaining group. Suffice to say it's a critical advantage that could make your journey through TLS that much easier.

Time is of the essence, fight your way to the top, secure your position and earn the power to choose.

Full rules and details can be found on the registration page, as well as posted below. It is your responsibility to read and adhere to these rules.

Casters

The first Teamliquid Legacy Starleague will be cast by the accomplished pair of Sayle and Elegant. These two casters are mainstays of the foreign Brood War scene, having commentated events ranging from the ISLs and Gambit's Cups to their by now famous unofficial coverage of SPL.

The first cast will begin this weekend on Saturday, Jan 12 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) and Sunday, Jan 13 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Sayle

Sayle is one of the most famous English Brood War casters out there. Starting out as an unknown admin on iCCup, Sayle rose to fame through casting various foreigner tournaments including Kaal's International Starleague & Gambit's Cup, enough to be recognised and partnered with Twitch.tv. Most recently he provided English commentary for the 2011 - 2012 SK Planet Proleague Season 1 & 2. He plays Protoss and has gotten B- on iCCup, he also played for United Kingdom in Altitude's Nation Wars. Sayle is known for his Korean-esque commentary, providing highly energetic and entertaning casts.
Elegant

Mote "Elegant" Keatinge, also known as ImbaTosS, was one of the first to actively provide live commentary on various events during 2011 and eventually became one of the most popular foreign casters. He has casted such events as Kaal's International Starleague alongside Sayle and is currently casting the Swedish Brood War Initiative Nation Wars. Elegant is from the United Kingdom and plays Protoss, his max rank on iCCup is C+. For the Gambit's Cup 3 Elegant co-founded a team, Fox Gaming, with his brother Poetic. Elegant is known for his fluent and eloquent casting.

Invites

These four players are being invited into the Round of 16 of the main tournament.

Sziky

overseers
Widely considered the best foreign player, Sziky has an impressive list of accomplishments. In TSL2, he finished in the top 12 of the qualification stage with an A rank, falling to Tarson just short of the round of 16. Since then, he has recorded ten first place finishes in Defiler tours and won ISL2 and ISL3. Sziky is known for his sharp mutalisk and zergling control and his meticulous late game management.

Sziky on Liquipedia

Michael

overseers
Known as gutshot on TL, Michael is loved for his entertaining stream where he cheeses in every way imaginable (and several ways unimaginable) against high level opponents. Michael is an extremely skilled player besides this and is more than capable of winning at any point in the game. While he is always near the top of anyone's list of best foreigners, Michael is still trying to score a major tournament win, having been eliminated 3-4 in the ISL3 round of 8 by Semih and 2-3 in the Gosucup finals by Pro7ect.

Michael on Liquipedia

dOTY

overseers
The German Protoss, known for his exemplary PvP and PvT, has earned recognition for his PvZ abilities when he took Sziky to a final ninth game in the ISL3, shattering popular expectations of a blowout. Doty has been active in team leagues such as Gambit's Cup, where he helped lead SJ to a third place finish. Recently, Doty has also become involved in the TL community, providing a high level first person stream with English commentary.

dOTY on Liquipedia

skzlime

overseers
skzlime earned wide recognition in the foreign scene playing for Hungary in Nation Wars, often being favored as the ace over household names such as Sziky and Ace. Since then, the Terran player has been a fixture in Gambit's Cup, achieving a 6-3 record in Gambit's Cup 3 and earning sas a victory over LRM with an all-kill in the playoff finals. skzlime is known for his excellent factory play, making him extremely strong in TvP and TvT and adding an extra dimension to his already dangerous TvZ.

skzlime on Liquipedia

Tune in on Saturday, Jan 12 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) and Sunday, Jan 13 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) for the first set of qualifiers! Let's get this show started!

Tournament will be held on the iCCup Server.
Do not register unless you have an iCCup Account (you can get one for free right here) and can play on the iCCup server.

Official iCCup Channels: op Legacy-1, op Legacy-2, op Legacy-3, op Legacy-4, op Legacy-5. You're not required to join these channels to find your opponent, but they will all have referees in them if you need to ask any questions.

iCCup Name Changes: If you have changed your iCCup name you need to let the system know! Be sure to check your account details as people have been disqualified from previous TL events due to incorrect information.

iCCup Chat Commands: A short list of useful commands to aid those who are new to iCCup navigate and communicate with players/staff/refs:

+ Show Spoiler +
/Whois [name]
This command allows you look up if the person is online/offline, which channel or game they are in. E.g. /Whois Elegant

/W [name] [text]
If you need to privately message or get in direct contact with someone simply type in /W followed by their name and then the message. E.g. /w TLSPlayer15 Are you ready to play?

/R [text]
This command allows you to quickly reply to the last person who directly messaged you. E.g. /R Yes I am ready to play

/Join [channel]
Allows you to join a channel. E.g. /Join op TSL

/DND [text]
As you may have figured, this command prevents anyone from contacting you. Simply type in /DND followed by your quick note. E.g. /DND trying to qualify for TLS.
To turn off DND, simply type /DND again.

Note: Spoilers Remember, due to the nature of this tournament, games will be cast from replays. As a result, there is a potential for spoilers.

Note: In game observers:
No observers outside of designated TL casters. Their IDs will be listed in the rules here. If your opponent tries to have observers, you must stop the game and contact a referee. This means you can leave if he invites his friends or just starts the game. It is your responsibility not to allow it.

Format
  • Single-Elimination Tournament
  • Bracket will be displayed on TeamLiquid. Participants must log in to view opponent IDs to contact their opponents for matches.
  • Players must contact each other through iCCup chat and arrange a host (unless Ro4 or later).
  • From Ro8 on, TL referees will host the game.
  • Winners will report results and upload replays after each round.
  • If a game's results are disputed (both players report win), Tournament Referees will check replays and determine who advances.
  • Best of 1 until Round of 8.
  • Best of 3 in Ro8, Ro4 and Finals.

TLS Qualifier Rules
  • Players are permitted to stream or cast games up to the semifinals, streaming or spoiling the semifinals or final series will result in disqualification.
  • Players may not have any stream open in the background when playing.
  • Any violation of TLS Qualifier Tournament Rules may result in game forfeit and future suspension from TLS Qualifiers and other TL events.
  • No cheating in any way. This includes any sort of hack or illegal program and receiving messages from friends watching the stream. This also includes account sharing or playing under an ID that you did not register under.
  • Players must set status to /dnd during tournament matches.
  • Players must arrive within 10 minutes of the end of the previous round. After 10 minutes, every 10 minutes is a game loss for the player who is not present. Ex: with one player present for 20 minutes, 1-0, 30 minutes, 2-0.
  • If your opponent is not present for 20 minutes, please PM TLTourAdmin.
  • Players may change race between games.
  • Players may not play in another tournament that conflicts with TLS Qualifier play time. Referees may disqualify players that delay the TLS Qualifier due to scheduling conflicts.
  • Referees may warn and disqualify players for chat violations, including excessive or abusive insults toward players, observers, or referees.

Maps and Host Rules
  • Games will be hosted on one of the approved maps from the iCCup map pack.
  • In a Bo1 games, host must create on designated map for that round.
  • In a Bo3 games, referee will host all three games in the exact order posted below.
  • Maps cannot be played twice in a series.
  • It is the player's responsibility to check the map pool. If a player protests an incorrect map after playing a game on it, the game will not be replayed.
  • If neither of the players can host, contact the referee who will host the game for you.

Map Pool: Qualifiers will use three maps that will be interchanged each round (in Bo3 games all three maps will be used). Map order for each round is given below:

Round 1 - Ro512 (Bo1) - Neo Jade
Round 2 - Ro256 (Bo1) - Neo Electric Circuit
Round 3 - Ro128 (Bo1) - Fighting Spirit
Round 4 - Ro64 (Bo1) - Neo Jade
Round 5 - Ro32 (Bo1) - Neo Electric Circuit
Round 6 - Ro16 (Bo1) - Fighting Spirit
Round 7 - Ro8 (Bo3) - Neo Jade, Neo Electric Circuit, Fighting Spirit
Round 8 - Ro4 (Bo3) - Neo Jade, Neo Electric Circuit, Fighting Spirit
Round 9 - Finals (Bo3) - Neo Jade, Neo Electric Circuit, Fighting Spirit

Download: The maps used in this tournament are from the latest iCCup map pack (2.4) and are available to download here

Disconnects and Lag
  • If your opponent is disconnecting, players should take a screenshot of the lag screen and contact the tournament referee.
  • If a disconnect happens in the first five minutes and there has been no player-opponent contact, game will be replayed.
  • In a Bo1, if a disconnect happens after player-opponent contact, disconnecting player may receive a loss. The Referee will make the final decision after reviewing the screenshot and replay.
  • In a Bo3, if a disconnect happens after player-contact, player must contact Referee immediately and Referee will decide how to proceed after reviewing the evidence.
  • Referees and Tournament Administrators reserve the right to overturn results or award wins based on evidence they see.
  • In a disconnecting situation, both players can agree to a regame.
  • If there is persistent unplayable lag (lag screen comes up more than once in a short time), players must contact a Referee who will decide how to proceed.

Coverage and Observer Rules
  • TL will officially cast both semifinals and the finals.
  • No observers are allowed in games other than those designated by TL.
  • TL will designate "approved" observers who will be allowed to observe and broadcast games.
  • TL referees are also allowed to be in game.
  • There will only be a maximum of one observer in each match.
  • If a non-approved observer joins the game and the host starts, game does not count.
  • If game lags with an approved observer in game, that observer must leave at the request of a player. If a TL referee is in game, he will make this decision.
  • Observers and broadcasters are subject to the same rules for cheating and abuse as players. TL may suspend observers from future TL events if violations occur.

I would PM a administrator directly for this, as they might not see this comment. But tbh I don't think they would need one. It isn't open to the Chinese or Korean scene(this is because of the horrible connection problems in BW), and only TL members will play and/or watch it. And we all know English, so yeah. If there is a Chinese or Taiwanese market for watching this, then I may be wrong.

Most excellent.
Casters rules (hacklebeast would deserve to cast a bit too if possible).
I guess not everybody will be pleased with the invites, because you can't please everybody; but Sziky and dOTY were obvious choices, skzlime rules and Michael is my favorite player with Bakuryu. Really happy about those choices all in all.
Will definitely try to play in one of those qualifiers, and lose in the first round. Do it even if you're D-, it should be fun !

heyoka is fixing that. But it says in the rules that you can change your iCCup info later so that should be OK as long as you remember to change it later.

It's appended a SC2-style .1 at the end of mine, making it sB.Birdie.1 when it should just be sB.Birdie

I have the 'Error: Your Battle.Net nickname contains invalid characters.' too.

Regarding: "If there is persistent unplayable lag (lag screen comes up more than once in a short time), players must contact a Referee who will decide how to proceed."

Slight/moderate lag on high latency+++ is significantly disadvantaging Z in almost any MU (most notably in ZvT). Will there be ruling regarding these situations?
Enjoy the game

Everything has the .1 at the end due to the nature of the system we'll just ignore them when the time comes.

I have work pretty much every saturday + sunday. What a shame; I really want to participate (and fail miserably in the first round) in one of these.

As per the FAQ from the TLS announcement news post:
Who can qualify for the 24 spots?

Players who do not reside in Korea or China can play in TLS Qualifiers. Players residing in Taiwan and SEA countries can compete.

This is only for foreigners basically.

You must feel quiet good right now since the people who basically did well in ISL 3 got invited meaning that ISL carried a lot of weight. I like that they didn't just inv random people

Just a suggestion if maybe ISL 4 happens which I'm pretty sure it will maybe you could talk it over with TL so that if TLS happens again that the top 3 get invited straight up.

I'm just talking out of my ass, but it would be cool.

Given how well they get paid nowadays, and that they have completely dropped bw those last few years, I don't think there's any.
No complaining from me though, I'm really not a fan of Artosis, especially in BW...

This is getting better and better. Can´t wait for the weekend to watch some amazing games.
Sayle and Elegant definately earned casting this, doing a great job the last seasons.

Combined with Sonic continuing, and FPL making Proleague even more exciting this is a good start for 2013.

Thank you so much TL, Razor and Twitch.

You can feel free to cast the earlier rounds in the qualifiers, but once it gets to the later rounds, we will keep only the main TL stream attached to the event.

Keep in mind that due to the observer rule, you will not be allowed in the live games. When the day comes you can ask us and any TL staff/referees for replays to cast, or they will be posted in the LR thread

L_Master you can cast my replays, there was nothing about BM. So there will be lots of fun builds and troll moments. As for anyone who is currently registered you have the beautiful pleasure of being eliminated by me. Don't worry I WILL definitely sign you a copy of BW if you send it to me and pay for s+h.

Awesome, I will most certainly sign up. So good that BW is back again, almost like a new TSL!

However, the matter of knocking out some big names I'm quite doubtful about :p What big names will participate except Sziky etc? Long time I heard of Octzerg and F91 for example?

http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=298418

His blogs from when he was in SK. Lots of pics of him.

I kind of knew he was of Asian decent but it was also my first time seeing his picture. Because of that I've alwyas knew Sayle only from his voice, thus imagined him in a way as you imagine e.g. a radio speaker or book character

Also would love to see some SC2 pros who transitioned play in this just for fun

I just realized that the castes are only 3 Bo3 each. You should be casting the quarterfinals of each qualifier as well.

Yea, I guess the observer rule is what I was asking about. Is it possible to be designated as an observer via application, or does that apply only to people TL pick and/or Sayle/Elegant?

IdrA played in TSL, so it shouldn't be a problem. Not only did he live in Korea, he practiced in a pro gamer house, and he was still allowed to participate.

I'm sorry but our rules indicate that players residing in Korea cannot play (posted here: "Who can qualify"). This is the case regardless of nationality. Going against our rule-set would be unfair to other players residing in Korea. You may have noticed we have just denied registration to several other Korean players like Ganzi and Symbol.

The rule was implemented to deal with the difficulties in communication and logistics of handling the vast number of Korean players. If we had to manage and communicate with SSL players we'd be pulling our hair out; we're hard pressed for reliable translators as it is.

The only way to effectively draft a rule which eliminates their eligibility is to exclude based on residency. This allows us to detect and exclude players by checking IPs.

Although you are an English speaker and Canadian national, you fall under this rule. Unfortunately, we have to exclude you from the tournament.

EDIT: After a lengthy discussion with staff, it's clear that this is unfair to foreigners who happen to be in Korea for a period of time. The spirit of the rule is to promote logistical expediency, to avoid lag issues and to ensure the tournament's overall goal of strengthening a foreign scene is achieved.

As a result, we have decided to eschew the "residency" rule and implement the TSL rules for this tournament.

Those rules are:

A player is eligible to play in the TSL if:
  • He grew up in a location without a professional StarCraft scene; OR
  • He currently resides in a location without a professional StarCraft scene and is not affiliated with a professional StarCraft team; AND
  • He does not have connection lag that would significantly impact quality of play

Under the TSL rules, you and any other foreigner residing in Korea for not affiliated with a pro team may compete in the TLS provided there are no lag issues.

othwerwise this rule would have excluded Rekrul too, i guess? I imagine he's still in Kor. And TL wouldnt want that :D

BUT
Ro32 bo1
Ro16 bo1

that's pretty shitty ;]

Ro8 & 4 should be bo5 and final bo7
with quarterfinals starting next day

anyhow, great news to all of us!

Does 'Notable players' imply that there will be some seeding going on in the qualifiers?

Whoa, 1024 player limit for qualifiers- and 115 of them are full already
It's amazing there are such overwhelming response to make ambitious goals like Bo512 viable!

its pretty much for the fans, so that they don't have to scroll down the playerlist to know if their favorite is playing or not.

Yes. Anyone who can enter one qualifier can enter all six. You do not have to play all six, but your chances increase as you play more.

edit: basically, sign up with the saturday one, if you do not manage to qualify, you can try again on sunday.
What about people that sign up to both beforehand and qualify in the first?
Is it easy for them to unregister again, or are they just supposed to not show up?

Show nested quote +
A player is eligible to play in the TSL if:
  • He grew up in a location without a professional StarCraft scene; OR
  • He currently resides in a location without a professional StarCraft scene and is not affiliated with a professional StarCraft team; AND
  • He does not have connection lag that would significantly impact quality of play

Under the TSL rules, you and any other foreigner residing in Korea for not affiliated with a pro team may compete in the TLS provided there are no lag issues.

Awesome that you guys talked about it, I for one was really wanting to see Smuft play and was disappointed at first.

Around 3-4 hours max. The qualifier starts at 17:00 GMT (+00:00) while the casting starts at 20:00 GMT (+00:00). This is also the reason why it's Bo1 all the way to Ro8 and Finals Bo3. Otherwise it would take too long to finish.

To increase your chances of qualifying to the main tournament. There will be 6 qualifiers from which we'll get 24 people. Format is explained in main post in more detail ^^.

Notable means, "worthy of attention or notice."

I've had the distinct pleasure of commentatong on Jonoman's play in the ThSL, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it.

But there is no professional starcraft 1 scene in Korea or China or anywhere else anymore right? and no sc1 teams? so doesnt that mean everyone can play if there is no lag? Unless starcraft scene includes sc2 which would also disallow a bunch of other countries.

those ex-progamers still play regulary on fish, whitch is a very strong server compared to icc and participate in Sonic's tournaments with their equals. In those tournaments as well as in their ladder games you can tell, that ex-progamers still would outplay every foreigner so it isnt funny anymore. To avoid this problem, die TL Starleagues have always been foreigner only, unlike the Events at sc2. In sc2 the skillgap isnt that big, coz sc2 takes less skill

Its harder to tell for China, but most likely the reason here is communication and lag. The chinese scene is supposed to be pretty damn strong, running their own "c-osl", but they wouldnt outclass all foreigners.

I can only remember 1 pro game ever involving random and it was Julyzerg winning a TvZ on some desert map with a mnm timing.

I think kespa banned people playing random a while later for some reason.

It was stated before, but I can't find the quote basically Sayle and Elegant should cast from ro8 onwards.

If we casted the Ro8, that would be 7 Bo3 matches in total which is way too long.

hahaha both these comments are so good. they address both sides of the same coin pretty much

playing random puts you at a general disadvantage considering practice time (unless you actually focus on one race and get a lucky spawn), but basically takes a worker from your opponent at like 6 supply and limits his choice of strategies depending on some more random scouting luck factor (which can be pretty big on 4 player maps). we could have an endless discussion about whether that's a fair trade ^^

wasn't always illegal, but nobody successfully randomed since chrh for a short while (before changing to terran). that one time I went to korea and played a televised game on stage with lots of spectators, in 2005(?), nobody objected to me going random.

Pretty sure it's still not illegal. Coaches just don't allow it?

I don't get the complaints. TSL2 barely had anything casted until the Ro16. We're doing 3 matches per qualifier and everything from the Ro24 up. There's going to be way more content.

Remember, this is only qualifiers, and casting takes a lot of time and energy. We'll be bringing you plenty of stuff, so don't worry about that, whilst being conscious of viewer fatigue. I for one dislike running event broadcasts which take 6 hours until the viewer can see the final. Many people just can't watch that, and it's not so enjoyable to cast either.

The chinese scene is supposed to be pretty damn strong, running their own "c-osl", but they wouldnt outclass all foreigners.

yeah I understand that but I'm just pointing out that they cant just use the TSL2 rules since things have changed if they want to exclude Koreans. Also China doesn't seem to be dominating as seen in Gambit's Cup.

I don't know why you wouldn't cast from quarters. 7 Bo3s is one nation war; which elegant does two at a time. And we all know sayle is no stranger to longer casts. We don't exactly have an overabundance of TvTs, and each Bo3 is going to average slightly longer than a half an hour.

Edit: the average length of a Bo3 from Nation Wars was 35 minutes, including casting delays.

I think if possible you guys did some overlay feature so you can just dive into the middle of a game similar to how they do ODT prelims that would be pretty nice, then go back to other games and so on, then you can cast a broader amount of the qual games and don't need to worry about the opening 5-6minutes of every game.

You are acting as if 4 hours is a ridiculous long time, but a 4 hour cast is shorter than average for either of them. We are really worried about "wearing out" if the cast is longer than 2 hours? really?

suggestion to hackle: focus more on players macro and minimap. dont just stop at some spots for 10seconds^^

This isn't about skill, and I'm not suggesting that I should have been selected. Sayle and Elegent are the two best people for the job. But it's a shame that the best BW has is someone who doesn't care anymore.

Anyone is free to cast any games they like prior to the Ro4. All the reps will be publicly available and if you're a trustworthy and well known caster then you'll have no trouble getting on the list of people who are allowed to observe and cast games live.

If you're unhappy about the amount of content available, do something about it.

If the replays from early rounds are just publicly available, and there are willing community casters, we could potentially get a lot of additional hours of fun BW casts. I'd watch!

if some people prefer a longer cast like hackle maybe tl can arrange that hackle can cast some of the ealier games before sayle and elegant starting with their ro4 casts.

I think The games are meant to be casted live before the Ro4 + some designed matches.

Also some players will probably be doing a FP view stream of there games i guess (Before RO4)

640x480 yes. Sucks about your monitor.

Try using windowed mode and setting your resolution as low as possible, or just large enough to accomodate 1280x960 (2x mode)

If anyone is interested in casting any of the games before Semi-Finals (of qualifiers), please PM TLTourAdmin and you will get replays as soon as they're played.

No more of this. These guys are not afraid to cast long hours if they need to. The reason is not because they are lazy!

notable doesn't neccesarily mean they're going to destroy everyone, it means they're someone of note. lalush played/plays sc2 at a high level, i think he went to some mlg's and stuff, ergo, he's notable hopefully he's done some practice and he'll surprise you

Lalush was around B+ protoss in BW. I think he hit A- during the tsl2 ladder stage too.

Someone asked this, but since it didn't get answered I will ask again. Do we start with Neo Jade either way or with the map for that round? Let's say 250 players sign up do we start with Neo Electric Circuit?

Guessing it's the second, but want to be sure.

Super cool, I'm curious how far a C- player would get, definitely going to open up the game and see how it goes. I remember last time I was getting frustrated that building marines required me pressing 'm" haha.

Hopefully I'll see you guys in one of the qualifiers.

O.o Soo many people that you would think are going to participate didn't sign up.

Castro, Kollll, Terror, Sneazel, Bibiane (Is he still alive?) and so many others.

Are these people just not aware or are they all gonna sign up the last second?

Well a lot of skilled players that have played in the SBWI and the latest GC still haven't.
I certainly hope that they haven't been living in a vegatative state for the past couple of weeks because that can really act as a deterant or an obstical if you will when trying to play BW.

I know you'll do a good job as always and please if possible please cast a game or two from G5 as a warm up if possible. I would really like to see his play after his long absence from BW.

So what happens 1st round if there's less than 257 players (I thought 512 was kinda ambitious from the start tbh). Are we simply skipping it and begin playing the round of 256 on neo electric circuit?

We've actually revamped the rules a little bit to allow foreigners currently residing in Korea participate (as per TSL1/2 rules):

They seem to be TL IDs which is a bit of a problem. Luckily my iccup ID is the same so my opponent could contact me.

such a lovely and amazing cast today, elegant and sayle were just superb together. after the tl poll for which game the community comes to visit this site, my heart broke cause of only a few percent voting for broodwar but when i saw 3000+ viewers for the finals on the stream, the pieces came back together to melt then again.

I previously didn't really care for Sayle's commentary (sorry ), but after today I've kind of started to enjoy it. I think Sayle and Elegant did a great job together. Please keep it up!

Oh my gosh, this is so awesome! I thought after TSL2, that would be the end of big tournaments in BroodWar, which made me sad, but this gives me hope again!

Thank you, TL!

Quick question. I followed Korean BW a little bit, but know basically nothing about the foreign scene. I've been watching the qualifiers for this tournament and so far 6 out of 8 participating players for the main tournament are Zerg, which is a big shame because BW ZvZ is terrible. Is there a reason for the fact that 4/4 qualified players are Zerg? Does the foreign scene simply have a lot of good Zergs? Or is the balance at the level these people play at in favour of Zerg? I know 4 is a very small sample size, but I'm just curious.

ZvZ is awesome man. I don't know what you're talking about

Anyway it is probably a little bit of both. There are a lot of Zerg and protoss at the top of the foreigner scene. Why is that? Dunno

On the "bright" side, we should definitely be seeing less Zergs winning in next 4 qualifiers

just has lots of good zergs, and not very many good terrans. In general BW balance goes like zerg>protoss>terran>zerg, so with few terrans and lots of zergs at the really high level we end up with a lot of zergs getting in

I don't think it's about the balance. As Kiante said, there are fewer Terrans, and currently there are just a bunch of good Zergs, although that changes a lot.

The foreign scene is dominated by Zergs sadly the foreign Flash (aka Pro7ect) retired a couple of months ago.
Although the best Zergs have already qualified so we should be seeing the other two races in the next 4 qualifiers.
