I still don't know the answer to navigating this divide, but it seems like you're well on your way to figuring out how to reconcile this disparity.

For me, the difference is that while WINNING tournaments is certainly the goal and it is absolutely the pinnacle experience I find value and happiness not solely in winning tournaments but rather the entire process.. the ups the downs the close calls etc. If I defined success only off of winning tournaments and then experienced fulfillment or happiness from that ultimate goal then yes I would be very bad at this and I would be unhappy. I am doing "what I want to do" and I am not a tournament winner but I am good at Starcraft. Not just in playing but in hosting, commentating and finding a place for myself in a world where very few are getting paid or earning a living.

For playing competitively Starcraft is still in its infancy. Two expansions later I hope that people with more talent will be able to rise faster in a more completed difficult game. I'm sure as you are that you could be a top competitor if you want it bad enough. Best of luck Geoff!

Coming into 2012 I had hope but then you expressed that you will split into casting and playing under the community pressure. You simply cant give your player career one last best shot before giving up. May be going to Korea? May be moving to Europe? But then when i heard that you proposed to Ana, i understood. You have settled this adventurous life of a gamer. I guess every boat would have to find it's home one day. Disappointed? Yes but I am also happy for you. From now on, the incontrol88 of the bw day will be something else, may be better, may be worse, but never the same. Best of luck, have fun.
