Today's my bday. yay. Finally 16 lol.
anyways, dont know why im making this in all honesty, im pretty tired right now and i have to get my permit later today and a party lol. but owell.
so basically im not doing so well in school. some may know that im taking a shit ton of hard classes in my current junior year of high school. already dropped out of apush, and the only classes im actually doing semi-well in are math classes (ap calc ab, ap stat, ap econ). the rest (ap bio, english, apush) im doing absolute garbage. granted im not failing, but they aren't even close to anything i want.
in addition, i bombed my sat (granted 800 math -.-) but 2060? like really? coming from someone who basically needs a 2300 to really cover crappy gpa to get into good colleges.
you could say im an idiot for not trying. as usual, beginning of the year i slack off and have to play catch up which usually never works for me. problem is motivation most of the time, as well as procrastination. i hate doing sat practice, and when i do, i usually sleep half way while im doing it.
there are a few good things going on though. i have an awesome girlfriend of 1 1/2 months and my extra-curriculars are doing pretty well. but those really dont cover everything.
trying harder, motivating myself, are all difficult to me. they come very easy to many people. and its not like i dont care. i do, but im too lazy to do anything about it. once again, because i lack motivation.
w.e. its my bday, i shouldnt be thinking about shit like this. but idk. im tired and this is like a tangent than a blog. bleah. good night tl. or should i say, good morning. Heh.

I kind of had the same problems with motivation during high school, especially concerning my work ethic. I don't really think you'd benefit from any advice I could give, other than work really, really hard during your senior year lol. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Wow that's crazy, that means you joined TL when you were 13. Anyway, don't worry about school that much, sometimes you have to relax and take a step back look at the bigger picture and all the pieces fall into place. Best of luck

I think your stressing out a lot more than you need to. Your like 2 years ahead in math and advanced in all of your other subjuects. A 2030 score is extremely good. Too bad you can't get another try on the SATS.

You should be proud that you're good at math. The rest doesn't really matter that much.

A. SAT's don't matter THAT much. 2060 is fine (especially if you got an 800 in math and want to go somewhere like MIT, CIT, Stanford*)
B. You're taking too much. That many AP's with a gf and extra-curriculars = something isn't getting the time needed.
C. Good luck with life and next semester!
*Stanford puts more emphasis on Reading/Writing than the other schools.

If you want to get into MIT, CIT, or Stanford, SAT absolutely matters. Yes, they want 800's on the math, but as Flash said they would be most happy if you got a 2300 overall. Not that hard if you think you are a shoe-in for an 800 on one section already.
And I wish you good luck in getting into the above schools with ~5AP's and little extracurriculars. Schools want you to be able to interact like a normal person, but they don't care about how many girlfriends that you have had. Things like president of MAO, NHS officer, Academic Team captain, etc. are more important than playing videogames to them.
Flash I would say just try to cut down videogames and focus more on school. I've been doing that since the start of this year. I'm in the same grade as you, but I have to work my ass off in EC's and competitive schedule: EC's because I used to be painfully shy so I did basically nothing my first two years, and schedule because my school's top track is rather unimpressive, so I have to try to get them to make exceptions for me. The only thing I haven't started yet are internships and independent research, for intel STS and college in general, because I don't know where to start. I wish you good luck. You have a much harder schedule than mine. Top track in my school is 3 AP classes Junior year, such a joke.

it takes some motivation / luck to get into a "top" school... but remember that (1) being in a top university doesn't guarantee you an easy life, and (2) you can still do very well for yourself despite not being in a top university.
Yes, studies are important... so work hard; just don't stress yourself out. Cutting down on games etc. is probably a good idea. [I'm a huge hypocrite here; whoops?] 6 APs is quite doable; you just need good study habits [bam more hypocrisy here.]
Extracurriculars are also certainly a good idea. Doing something physical and something artistic are certainly pluses; you don't want to come off as one-dimensional, unless you're really damn good (top 5 in the country) at something. Also, colleges have some sort of obsession with "leadership" positions (though I guess "leadership" forces you to (a) be able to plan things, (b) be able to communicate effectively... and these are both very important.)
Research is also a good thing to get into if you're planning on going into science/math/engineering. Try finding a local professor whose research looks interesting, and talk to him/her, or maybe apply to summer research programs.
EDIT: also, the SAT sucks. It's a terrible test of anything useful, and a good test of how well you can take the SAT. But you have to do it... I'd suggest doing some practice tests or whatnot; you shouldn't have trouble getting a 2200+ if you practice enough. Then again, as TeuTeu said--for MIT/Caltech the verbal scores aren't _quite_ as important, but you better make up for "poor" verbal scores with extremely strong quantitative skills.

Better than my SAT, but I remember a guy writing about how he had shitty scores, still got in to his places as a white guy and that really what matters is effort. That is what I took away, that you can go wherever by putting enough work in, also happy 16th FlashFTW!
