Whelp, here goes my first blog on TL. Figured a [girl blog] would be most appropriate .
We first met during a festival near Lake Tahoe for fire spinners called Fire Drums through a few mutual fire-spinning friends. The first thing I learned about her was that she had just got back from Thailand after a year long journey exploring the world a week before the festival (how cool). I didn't spend too much time with her there, but there was one moment, in the midst of the fire circle, surrounded by dozens of other fire spinners, where we ran into each other and began mirroring.
Mirroring is a technique in fire spinning where two people line up their center points, and you take turns copying the move the other person is doing, or each of you take one half of a larger pattern. It's insanely difficult to pull off effectively, even with months of choreography and practice, and we just fell into it spontaneously. We were flowing in and out of the other's patterns with relative ease, creating a very beautiful effect.
I didn't see her again until a local summer solstice celebration in my SoCal town where she came to visit one of my friends. She was still travelling around the US unrooted at this point, from what I could tell. We spun together a bit in the park, and she took some awesome pictures of everyone (she's a photographer), then went to lunch with a large group which quickly devolved into a hilarious conversation of our sex lives (or lack thereof). Still didn't get to spend any precious 1-on-1 time with her yet.
Our next encounter was at burning man (which deserves an entire blog post itself.) I've been spinning poi and staff for a few years now, and went to burning man as part of a troupe of performers, so I have a bit of experience behind me. She's a solid year behind me in picking up fire spinning, but has a strong dance background, so we have tons to teach one another.
During one afternoon, we spent a solid few hours just passing a contact staff back and forth, flowing together, and later that night (around 5 am, about a half mile into deep playa where the art-cars gather before sunrise), we ran into each other and she definitely made a move, but I was way too high and distracted to notice and act on it. The next morning was a rough realization of that fact, and I vowed to not let that happen again. Always be on your A-game, right?
+ Show Spoiler +
On the night that man burned (and I performed my fire spinning conclave piece), or really the sunrise after, I found her by the temple of juno, and there we connected pretty deeply. We rode an art car (the pyro bar) from sunrise until almost noon and had a fantastic time (in her words, "The best time on the playa I've ever had", which is a pretty big statement ).
In the months after burning man, I grew increasingly busy as I'm trying to build my own business on the side of an already incredibly demanding engineering daytime job. I reached out to her a few times to compliment her on her awesome photos of burning man, but the conversations never really developed. She moved from Denver to Northern California, and then came to my neck of the woods this past weekend for a festival called Lunacy.
This was my chance, as I saw it, to finally cement this thing. I'm not exactly into a long distance relationship, but she is high enough quality that I would be happy with anything at all. We played around a bit with our flow toys, and held hands/cuddled a mild amount, but never got any time alone as she was always with her friends. By the last night of the festival, I was getting mixed vibes from her, and had no clue what to do with it. Confused, I said my goodbyes and that I'd see her next Fire Drums (which is in May).
At this point, I'm just focusing on my work/side project as much as possible to distract myself from my failure, but my productivity has plummeted since I can't keep my thoughts straight, so I figured I'd write a bit about it to try to work it out. I still don't know whether she was being shy and hiding with her friends, or I was being awkward and pushing her away, or what, if anything, happened this past weekend that flopped.

Sometimes, you've gotta grasp life by the balls.
You let the balls slip away from you, man.
You let them slip away....

hmm. firstly im jelly, i really want to go to burning man. and to be able to do fire poi actually. but anyways about your situation...
i feel like it would be exceedingly difficult to have a steady relationship with her, and that may not be the best situation anyways. its like you are trying to ride a gazelle, or keep a pet giraffe...it doesn't work because the beauty of it is the fact that it is wild. I get the impression that this girl will not let herself be tied down, so don't try to tie her down. my advice is when you see her at fire drums, make a move. an unmistakable , clear move. you have very little time with her so make it count. i feel like the most natural way for your relationship with her to evolve is to just keep meeting at the places you have met, and steadily grow closer/more comfortable, over your sparse meetings.
Things that are rare are also very precious. like a diamond, or a lifespan, or beautiful night and a chance meeting. don't leave it all up to chance , but don't try to force the two of you into a mold you don't fit into.
sorry, my thoughts are a bit scattered. i hope this was helpful, and good luck.

Pretty good prose, and even better signature. With those credentials, I have no choice but to take your advice
Yeah, definitely pick up spinning poi. I highly recommend it, just don't get swallowed in by the psuedo-science surrounding it (sacred geometry bulls&@t). It can be a life changing endeavour, and the flow state even helps with video gaming

that's not clear. Your english seems good to me.
Anyways, I like how romantic the whole story is.. You get caught in a moment with her and instantly there is something remarkable about being in one another's presence. Your styles compliment eachother. Having fun, everything is good and she makes a move.
And then your rose garden is rained on by uncertainty. But perhaps the metaphorical rose garden needs rain. The uncertainty of whether you like her can make you rise to try new things.
My friend and i were talking to eachother yesterday and we found out that being clear and blunt is what makes things move along, but being cryptic, playful, and hinting and flirting adds the exciting dimensions that help to keep the "fire" alive. Keep burningman
