So, what worked? Nothing changed, business as usual. True, EFS did say that they would not attend OSL as long as KeSPA forbid their players to attend, which KeSPA still is, even after their statement.

Only next season though, which means... next year...? Better than nothing, but I still don't see why interested players cannot participate in the upcoming qualifiers, especially those of teams who do not participate in the Proleague playoffs and those who are not bound to OSL/WCG/WCS.

November I think.

Finals of GSL S4 will be played at IPL, which is Nov 29 - Dec 2, so S5 of GSL won't start until that. A mid december start is the earliest for GSL S5.
By then the current OSL will be well underway or finished (don't know the schedule), so if the ESF players participate in it, then Kespa has the first regular league with both groups of players on their own turf, which seems to be an important goal: To ride on the hype of Kespa-stars playing ESF-stars.
Allowing their players to join GSL S5 is an empty gesture from Kespa. And the wording of the ESF statement implies that it will not change their course.

Code S yeah, but Code A prelim starts quite a bit before that.
I'd believe KeSPA on this actually, because if there is one thing Korean hate more than lose money is lose face. If they pull out Season 5 they'd look SO bad no sponsor would want that headache.

ESPF players already "committed to OSL" then left halfway thru. Like telling a MLG hey I can not make this event to.Pulling a last shadow and leaving. Can you imagine MKP walking out of an MLG Grand Finals. Big MKP fan but SC2 is not as big in Korea as BW was, thus MKP will never be as big of star in Korea as a TOP BW player. The way things are looking he will never be.IF things turn south OGN will never let these players back in. I think KeSPA did exactly that. MLG would have a much better contingency plan if they did not know whether the KeSPA players were going to come. I mean, just look at the players in pool play. MLG already came out and said they knew "for weeks" that KeSPA players wouldn't be coming, they just chose not to announce it. I am a big capitalist but that is shady by MLG. Everyone was assuming they were coming thus more people bought packages and tickets
There is nothing shady about it. If MLG did not specify any timelines and events where to expect KeSPA to participate, then you should not assume when it will happen. Their annkuncement was about the fact working sith KeSPA to figure out schedules, not that the schedule is set.
That's it. Everything else is stuff you are making up.
And maybe that's the problem with this community. Stop expecting things or timelines that are not promised to you, and maybe there will be less shitstorms because unfounded expectations are not met.
It used to be that the biggest drama in these forums was translations of Korean netizens in Fomos. It was hilarious. Seeing all that stuff right here in Team Liquid is just sad.

Slasher just tweeted this;
Rod Breslau @Slasher KeSPA refuses players in GSL Season 4 and 5, GSL players refuse to play OSL, KeSPA in turn says they will play Season 5. Set and match.
I don't know if it's what he wants to happen or if that's actually something that has been agreed upon, but I thought I'd post it.

Well, they made KeSPA to announce their participation for Season 5, which was the big fear for everyone: that KeSPA just keep using this to stall and gain control. Even if the follow up was a typo no one really trusted them to show up for season 5. Now they put their word on it, I think we can believe it for now. Because it will be a much bigger problem for KeSPA if they actually go against their own word which is clear defined and can be verified.

It'd be good to read a bit more before posting There's already a thread about Kespa agreeing to play Season 5. Unless I'm misunderstanding the point of your post.

Well shit, how did I miss thread? This is a great turn of events. We all know Korean E-sports needs a reformation.

So in other words, this thread is greatly fueled by Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.
GOM: KeSPA won't join season 4. Such dicks. KESPA ARE DICKS! KeSPA: season 4 is a no go, our schedule is planned for this season. FUCK KESPA! KeSPA: but we are joining season 5. OMG WE DID IT *pats in the back*
Can't you see what's wrong with all this?

For some reason you're giving KeSPA the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure what they've done to deserve that sort of treatment from anyone, but we have a right to be suspicious. Them precluding players from the GSL hurts everyone (including the players) except for KeSPA, which is pretty much par for the course for them.
They need to realize that they are not invincible like in BW, and that their players are not the best players out there (yet). A little humility would be nice.

So let me get this straight - this was the Cuba Missile Crisis of SC2 then?

So let me get this straight - this was the Cuba Missile Crisis of SC2 then? Only with crazier russians that actually want to fire the missiles. Pretty clear kespa want the first proper cross tourney so they're backing out of an agreement, main issue is it sets a precident, if ESF players did go to OSL kespa could just pull out again and GOM gets shafted. They have to stand firm and hope kespa acts in more mature fashion. A glance at history and it looks really bad...

kespa, good organisation. should keep doing what they do and not listen to the noise
