When we started with TL knowhow it was really to be just a book club, but we felt it was too limited, but at the time as well, I had a lot of time. I still have a lot of time, but after my surgery I've been exhausted, I've slowly gained a lot back, but with travel and being in a wheelchair it has been extremely frustrating.
I've been on 4 trips, 4 different countries in 2 weeks and am in the Philippines, got stranded by the flood and just finally got back to Manila now and catching up with TL Knowhow has been one of my top priorities, but when you have 3 projects going on at the same time and people are calling you into different meetings in different countries, well normally, I'd do my TL commitments in my down time in a hotel room, but I've been forced to entertain clients, investors and partners until 4am for a few nights out of the week and all in a wheel chair.
I'm going to make this post short cause I have to go to 9pm meeting shortly, but one thing I like about being a wheelchair is that airport are awesome. They get people to push you, you skip every line and the stewardesses are even more super nice to you. BUT, holy shit is being in a wheelchair freaking tough when you're 230pounds and I tell you, after 10 mins of pushing my fat ass around in a wheel chair is exhausting; I have callouses now on my thumbs, but up to the last week, I'd push myself for about 5mins then pass out for another 5 mins, just because i was still recovering; I guess all the bad abusive things I've done to my body has just caught up with me with the surgery. Which sucks because I want to get TL knowhow off the ground a lot better than it is, but with the travel etc, it hasn't happened yet.
Well, I'm just writing random shit now cause I keep darting back and forth to the clock, but I hope that as their are more posts in TL know how section done then we'll have a fuller picture of things. And it is fustrating as hell I can't just turn on the afterburners right now and pop out 10 posts, cause I'm just not physically up to it cause I do need to sleep cause I'm getting back to my hotel room at 5am and I've had a stomach flu for the last week as well- I'm sure I need to check into a hospital asap, but I will tough out the rest of the month and take it from there.
my dream is to one day, to never have to entertain another client or partner ever again and have it be considered critical to a project... then I'd have time to sleep and get the most important things done, family and my TL commitments ^^ blahh......gotta run and look pretty in my sexy wheelchair. At least the ladies love it. haha

Enjoy the sex appeal of the wheelchair, chicks dig big wheels. Don't push yourself to hard though.

I wanna see a tl sticker on that wheelchair! 힘내 형!!~~

Take your wheelchair to a skatepark and record yourself making sweet jumps.
For esports.

Here's an idea on how to get more fun out of all the endless flights. (At least when you have recovered a bit more):
1. Arrive at the airport with a sorrowful look on your face. A blanket to warm your feet and legs will probably help the impression. 2. Get the stewardesses (or whomever pushes you around the airport) to do anything for you. Check-in bags, etc. 3. When they roll you past the huge line at the gate and you're just about board the plane, say: "Stop. I dont need this anymore" try to hand the wheelchair to the company's personell and stroll towards the plane like you dont have a care in the world.
Im pretty sure the looks on peoples faces will be fucking priceless.

Please tell me you have a reason for this aside from some delusion of duty or stupid macho urge.
Don't get me wrong here, I like you, but you really need to make sure to learn from both your wife's cousin's advice as well as http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=352767#1 this blog.

The flood's a piece of crap to deal with; hope you don't have to endure any more of it than necessary. Also, don't push it too hard, no sense beating up yourself on not taking care of things if it means that you'll be unable to give 100% on it.
If you DO need to get yourself checked here in PH, I'll take Makati Medical Center or St. Lukes Global City for your hospital needs. A tad pricey (I remember getting checked out for dizziness/bad fever and getting hit by a $40 bill [no meds!] at Makati Medical Center), but they're the country's best private health care institutions.

I feel you, dat stress. Hopefully your dreams come true

Yeah, you really should get yourself to a hospital to make sure everything is alright. Like right now. The rest of the month is what, 3 weeks away.
Glad to hear from you though!! Fight on, and really--stay healthy. The number one thing is your and your family's health. Everything else comes after. Good to know you've been doing alright.

Every time I read one of these blogs I keep thinking about what not to do... MA you show people here what not to do and we show you what you should do but apparently you keep on doing what you teach us not to do. Yeah... listen to your wife's first cousin. Get to that hospital you idiot!
|
Man, you really should go to a hospital and get checked out, even more so important if you were on a flood area. There are some nasty infections you could have caught... GET CHECKED OUT! I really hope everything's ok, man. I feel your stress. Just keep on going and pursue your dreams. And get better soon

Hey Guys, Thanks for the concerns, don't worry, I have been taking care of my health a lot, I've quit smoking and drinking, but I got the bug more from exhaustion and not taking enough time to recover than anything else. So my 9pm meeting finished at 5:30am once again and I got up at 8am to get some final work done.
The issue has been that there were 3 pending project contracts due and all contracts are time sensitive - in terms of time to close em, and they all have some political aspect at the level that I'm at, so, I really had no choice but to go out and sort them out or else they would have collapsed or someone else would have gotten the chance to make a competing proposal as I'm sure by now our initial request for discussion documents are now in the hands of possible competitors waiting for the opportunity to jump in once our exclusivity talks period is over. I literally have 2-5 days left to close things out, so that is why I just can't slow down in this case, but the pace at which I'm working, it's putting me back a day here and there.
Well it is raining like a mofo again! lol, and not to worry the company has experienced drivers so they've kept us out of the rain although I was stranded for a couple of days 2 hours north of Manila, but it was a penthouse suite so don't worry boys I was doing ok with the 4 person suite butler service (they even pushed me around in the wheel chair in the rain lol).
But other than this bug, I have been very good at not doing anything harmful to my body save the exhaustion and been eating like 5 different types of supplements and generally look a few years younger now, so I've taken the matter to heart, it's just that I really can't afford to spend a day in the hospital when I have meeting scheduled every few hours or so and new revisions to get out. So I'm leaving it as is, cause I got another revision due in 1 hour, but the best thing is, if I can close 2 contracts within 5 days, I get to go back and spend time with my family back in Korea and won't have to travel again for a couple of weeks. ^^

Hm...oh that clears things up. Good to hear that!
I was thinking that you were still sick with the flu and exhausted from overwork, but I guess the hospital line was just a joke? (because if you literally do think that you need to check into a hospital asap, you should do so immediately :X)
gogo (but not too hard). Hope you'll be able to use these 5 days well and close your contracts, so that you will be able to use those several weeks in Korea to rest up!

That sounds like the place you'd be okay in getting stuck at, and is just the right time frame (2 hours) from Manila.
I remember you telling the story of being a lazy bum and sleeping half the day away when you're at home, so just catch up on that when you're done. Time-limited projects are a bitch to work with.

i'm sorry but you are somehow related to TL but as i am pretty new i dont know how...could you explain?
also: entertaining in a wheelchair? are you just injured or disabled?
sorry just a bit confused here. >.<

Okay MA Just keep healthy man. When you fully recover from the surgery you should be doing some exercises and that'll help with the 230 pounds lol. I'm proud of you for the smoking + drinking though, i could never quit drinking myself. <3 Keep healthy man, if you need proof reading or something menial and mundane for TL knowhow plz let me know i'd be glad to help.
