Not sure if really good, I found it pretty shit. Characters weak, drama forced, no good motifs. Decent bit of potential here and there but ultimately boils down to Haru Harem. Even SAO does better in that respect.
And yet somehow AW sells.

You mean like Hayami Saori voice and Hayami Saori voice haunting MC for rest of series and Hayami Saori voice? lol considering how poorly pacing is being done, I really wouldn't mind some Hayami Saori voice haunting for rest of series. I wish AGE had Hayami Saori voice haunting T_T also, I would laugh so much if SAO world ends in 1 cour. @Sent: best scene in Evangelion imo. We need to hope SAO ends in 1 cour, since the next arc after Vol1 (3+, from what I've gathered) is really stupid. I've already started reading Vol3, an turns out that Eca's "dutchwife" jokes aren't actually jokes! I took a glance through the webnovel txt files and found that Alicization is apparently done already, so just need a bit of motivation to work through the filler shit that was vol 7 and move onto Alicization zzz

Ep3 and already went through 2 short stories, so they'll probably place main arc at 5~6 episodes (4~5 left) and digest the rest w/ SS, which adds up to about 12. Then spend 12 on ALO all the way to vol4 end.
Or basically looking for 3 seasons 5 cours or something.

Well, if it wasn't for the fact that the guy ALWAYS whines insanely much, + Show Spoiler +getting your wings stolen by an asshole is a pretty valid reason for entering emo mode - but since he's ALWAYS in emo mode, it doesn't really have an impact... look, I understand that not all characters can be super badass all the time, but accel world simply takes the whining too far. To think that I ever thought Shu in GC was whiny... that can't even compare to Haru.

Watching Durarara!! at the moment... let's just say, I wish I could throw vending machines like that.

I never understood the whiny protag. I mean, sure, instantly adapting to a sudden life and death scenario without whining is fairly unrealistic, but the point is that if the character just keeps whining and whining and whining, never growing some balls... ugh. I don't like it.
Also prefer "real" romance over huge harems... look, if the main character has nothing likeable about him (except that he looks like a pig and pigs are cute), then why does he get a huge fucking harem of girls after him? I have no problem with people getting a harem if they actually have some likeable quality, but... meh. Haru has wings. Bitches love wings.

He's undergone intense racial discrimination and belittling at every turn, which has turned him into a very defensive person with a short fuse. To top it off, he gets "demoted" to a testing facility, in which he has to test a product constructed by the very race he absolutely despises, while having to work under someone OF THAT RACE.

I think you secretly love wings, too. Don't worry. I'll keep your secret safe!
Haru makes me mad because of his insistent whining and lack of self-confidence (although I can't really blame him). <insert same as Shu comment here>
I agree with the "real" romance issue. I've never been a huge fan of harems. I don't hate them, but if I had to choose between the two, I would usually take the former.

Total Eclipse 4: + Show Spoiler +Yui is a really arrogant Japanese. Shes talking about how all Japanese TSFs handle like how the Fubuki does, and how even Japanese trainees can handle them... While showing scenes of trainees fighting in Zuikaku, which are essentially just souped up F-4Js (Gekishin, the Japanese variant of the F-4 Phantom). The F-4 was an AMERICAN made 1st Generation TSF. They are slow and heavy. There is no way something based on an F-4 could feel lighter or tons more responsive than the F-15s or F-22s that Yuuya is used to, so Yui is full of shit.
When it comes down to it, the main problem Yuuya has was simply the difference between American tactics and Japanese tactics, like what his mechanic said. American TSFs aren't even equipped with swords. Raptors and Strike Eagles, for example, have combat knives for melee battles. American doctrine is probably more rational, and doesn't focus on fighting the BETA up close, but rather shooting them with alot of guns and falling back, rinse and repeat.
IIRC the Fubuki were designed to be overly sensitive, anyway.

+ Show Spoiler +Whole thing reminded me of the OS switch, with the controls being "overly sensitive" and such. They adapted decently quickly to that change, though. One thing I didn't really understand (if I remember this correctly) is why Yui was so hostile to him in the first place in ep3 (if I remember correctly she was acting like quite the bitch even before Bridges expressed his Japanese hate). Imperial haughtiness?
|
They both can't handle each others' nationalism. Yui loves Japan and fights vehemently on its behalf. Everything she does is for Japan. Meanwhile Yuuya has an incredible hatred for all things Japan, because it's the accursed race that made him have to suffer everything he has. Yui for her part can't stand nor understand (because she's a spoiled bitch) Yuuya's hatred of Japan, and chalks it up to standard American pride. 平行線です。 Whoops wrong series.

Finally got around to watching From Up on Poppy Hill I enjoyed it for the most part though some parts were a bit annoying + Show Spoiler [ to quote them] +
Loved the clubhouse and the name exam forecasts amused me.

+ Show Spoiler [SAO 3] +Yeah those people had to die. That's what they were introduced for. Only people I expect to live are the protag and the girl that appears in the OP/ED music vods during the anime -.-. Although the plot jumps around a lot IMO, there doesn't seem to be much connection if any at all between episodes. I read the post that said that that episode was made from 3 pages of the LN + anime staff writing, but still... I'd like a sense of continuity and coherence here and there...
+ Show Spoiler [Imouto hunt] + Rofl this show... is slowly killing me. The part where the girls enter and see 2 guys(1 guy and 1 Xdresser) on a bed saying they're practising making kids, and the scene following that being 1 of the girls starting to drool makes it golden. The innuendo in the show is great!
+ Show Spoiler [Dog Days] +As always, as inappropriate as you'd expect. Hime catching the disc like the bitch she is, then the petting, then the girl trying to pull off the guy's pantsu during the night. Yep, I'm watching this just to see how horribly low they can go =D

Nah, wasn't 3 pages of the LN+anime staff writing. Volume 1 takes place after all this stuff, and the general events that happened in episode 3 were mentioned. But then later on in Volume 2, which is a Side Story volume, a good 1/4th of the LN is dedicated to this story. There was some stuff cut out, but nothing major.

Lack of explanation over Sachi also just makes her look + Show Spoiler [SAO] +like a dead newtype girlfriend like in a certain AGE, down to the same voice (hue) I don't know if I am just expecting more out of a series that is supposed to have gotten a lot of attention and resources, but even like Index does this kind of thing better than SAO is doing.

I know I've said it before, but... subbed Horizon, where is it? Why so late this week? Or is it up somewhere? Q.Q
Oh and SAO feels too fragmented so far to me, one sidestory after another does that to you, I guess...
