KeSPA tried to please everyone and they ended up pleasing no-one, really. They need to take some action, I think. At the very least, they need to update the SC2 map pool (it's all small-to-medium maps. Put Whirlwind in, take maybe Ohana out). I don't even know what they can do on the BW side at this point, though.
It's only a few more weeks before KeSPA players have to face GSL players (Monday, if you count the show matches, but no one takes those that seriously). If they get trounced, I think that's almost it for Proleague. There's no way they can survive as a poor man's GSTL.
I don't know if they could've saved it through BW somehow (maybe tried to renegotiate with Blizzard, who no longer really needs them), but the switch to SC2 is starting to turn into a disaster.
The thing is, GSTL format is kind of retarded for a teamleague. I think the bigger sponsors (say, a KHAN-SKT-STX cabal) have the clout to impose a reasonable format on KeSPA, while I don't see the GSL gogogogo format working long-term. So what I'm really afraid of now is that the sponsors don't care and contracts will simply run out and then... who knows.

There'd be no point in doing it that way. All the big BW names would just stay in BW, so they'd only suck the future out of BW even more to create an SC2 league composed entirely of SC2 noobs who were also no-names.

The GSTL format really does suck, but it's a lot easier for GOM to change it than for KeSPA to convince SC2 fans to care about KT Rolster. .

yea. I dont like an ODT and all-kill format for a teamleague. For some reason, in SC2/Gom seems individual tournaments are given a much higher priority while BW/Ogn gives a higher importance to teams through Proleague. Im still not sure what will the consecuences of this will be, but establishing teams will be difficult if they are less important in competitions
Zealot is headed towards Effort's base Two lings out for Effort Not going to be enough for the zealot Zealot pulls back, holds back and headed to try and get hidden Third for Effort at the mineral only Natural warping in for Shy
Zealot takes out two lings before finally dying to the lings Forge and cannon warping in now after nexus at the wall Lair morphing now for Effort Ling almost picks off a single probe Not a tight wall, ling manages to slip in Core half way done

GSTL is a terrible teamleague. The first couple were great, then they went away from round robin groups for reasons that aren't at all clear to me, and instead chose a horribly confusing and anti-climactic format. Plus GOM runs what feels like 20 events a year, which really waters down the history and the build.

In part due to the format. While SC2 is considered less interesting that BW (except for the rare game where all the stars align) generally, SPL SC2 has been unusually bad SC2. So, while there were always going to be people who just didn't like SC2, KeSPA wasn't exactly making a case for it.
The KeSPA obs is also, I'm noticing, pretty bad with SC2. Lizzy had a game last night, and did all kinds of constant nonstop harass all over the map (unusual for SC2 protoss), and the KeSPA obs missed pretty much all of it. He just stared at Lizzy's army in the middle of the map until suddenly Zerg didn't have a main or natural. It was like he was purposefully trying to keep the game from being interesting as some form of BW supremacist.

nah kespa just ignores what people want and do what some corporate sponsor wants. I don't really blame them for having to switch to sc2 (various reasons of sponsorship for bw drying up; everyone who bothers to show up in this thread knows those reasons lol) but it's pretty obvious everyone knew a mixed format would be shitty.
as well as ignoring bo7 from progamers (though there is some concern for the amount of bo7s a week, they still wanted bo7. and some coaches wanted winner's league reduced, but not eliminated) http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=274673
though admittedly, poll results from fomos was hardly a fraction of the viewership base.

Yes, maybe there are way too many tournaments. Gom should run an stable season- teamleague instead of a short volatile one. Gom gives too much priority to individual tournaments
Effort so good, tanks some cannon shots with lings, and suicides his scourge to kill off a corsair +1 speedlots running into the nat area of Effort Second gate being added, templar tech is up
Effort manages to runby into the mian of Shy Four lings get into the main DT is out on the field, among the hydras Hydras moving to try and bust the nat, but the DT forces the group to pull back Effort taking 12 oclock as a fourth

That's where Kespa have been doing wrong. They should have kept the fans in the dark in situations like this if Diehard ones wanted to move on. They should even told the players at the beginning of this OSL that this SHALL BE THE LAST OSL. For god's sake, they announced it like shortly after Group Stage. Do any of you know how depressed must some players be for believing that they might have a second strike after this one (cough Bisu cough)? Effort didn't even pass the Prelimries! Jaedong is knocked out at group stage! If they announced to the players this news, the level of play will skyrocket like no tomorrow, everybody fighting their absolute best for it. But now so many players got the short end of stick. Fuck man, fuck kespa.
Effort still annoying Shy, two get through the four zealots Lurker eggs morphing, wanting to break the back door Shy has a storm, some lings and a few hydras fall One cannon falls too, only three? left Corsair fleet is going to take out a few overlord, up to 7?
