Yeah you're right, I was taking the gushing over phoenix to heart too much when it's probably just lip service for the contract.
i thought hornets were trying to get a sign and trade going rather than just losing him for nothing.

any reputable source other than Gambo? He also claimed that NY was never an option and that he would prefer to go the Lakers, even though Steve himself said it would be hard to put on a Lakers jersey.

The Lakers don't have anything to S&T with tho. This is weird, why would Phoenix only take future first rounders that won't even be lottery picks and no players?
|
yea, I'm not really buying it either, seems like a bunch of blown smoke.
seems to be confirmed now, ill wait until ink hits paper, still no more sources than gambo.
will steve really drop 11 million from toronto and 5 million from new york to play for the lakers??

Not sure how I feel about Nash for the Lakers. On one hand, he should help their offense run more smoothly and his perimeter shooting should open things up more for the bigs and Kobe in the post. However, I'm not sure if the Lakers have the means to cover up Nash's defensive deficiencies and he's definitely not adding any much-needed quickness or athleticism to the roster.
If getting Nash can make the Lakers more patalable to D12, it's definitely worth it. Guess we'll see.

Eh, it's not like Steve Blake and Ramon Sessions were gonna help defensively anyway. No idea how the Lakers would get Dwight Howard though.

So Robert Sarver can sell them, lol.

Oh man, only this morning peeps were saying Nash was a done deal with NYC?
I'd hate to see Nash in a Lakers jersery--he's such a likable and cool guy and the Lakers are, well, the Lakers (pure evil).

agreed =[ makes the lakers less hate-able...which isn't a good thing! they should be really fun to watch though, maybe bynum will actually mature...

Yeah, I'm not enough of a cap/trade guru to figure that one out. Nash for $25M over 3 years already seems like more than they can afford as is. Not entirely sure how the trade exception affects things.

Still not sure how the Lakers would get Dwight Howard though. After giving up picks to get Nash they can only offer players to Orlando which means Bynum and Pau would both need to be traded.

Nash has never been a defensive juggernaut or athletic guy though anyway. It's hi ability to run an offense that will hugely benefit the Lakers. He'll get everyone in that team much better looks and stop Kobe's hero ball.
So if the Lakers are using the Odom TPE to absorb Nash's 8mill, am I right in saying they'll have $87 mill committed in salary next year? That's pretty sick.

I'm no trade expert, but the ESPN trade machine says Bynum/Artest for D12 works. I'm not saying they'd take it, but it appears that Bynum + someone other than Kobe or Bynum for Dwight could work.

Sick as in, oh my god they are going to be paying a LOT of luxury tax?

And that Lakers team will be sick. Adding Nash makes them a legit contender now.
|
Yea but Orlando has all the leverage since Dwight opted in to his contract. I highly doubt the Magic would take Artest + Bynum when they could possibly get both Pau and Bynum. Either way this is interesting as seeing Dwight on the Lakers would mean massive trouble and a much better team than anything with Joe Johnson on it. I think I'd rank that team as 4th or 5th best in the league instantly. (The team with Howard + Pau + Kobe + Nash )
