I just had to look at Marshon Brooks stats because I thought he was just "ok at best on a good day" last year on a terrible team, which isn't a good sign. And this is what I see: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/brookma01.htmlI looked his MP because I thought his numbers were "decent, but not great" because he played like 22 MPG. Turns out it was damn near 30. God I hate Billy King.
Oh man, Travis Outlaw! When will that guy stop haunting front offices? Was that Rod Thorn or Billy King who offered that one? Okay...welp, good luck Nets.

marvin williams AND joe johnson? danny ferry is a god.
and LOL nets...

The rumormill is that the Magic weren't willing to trade Dwight to the Nets because the Nets had nothing to offer, plus I'd imagine there's not a whole lot of love between the two teams over Dwight tampering stuff. I don't think this "killed" the Nets' chances of landing Dwight if they figured they were completely out of it to begin with.
|
The good news here, is maybe playing under the spotlight of NY, people will realize Joe Johnson is really not very good. Tired of media pundits calling him a star player, etc.
|
Fuck I really hate some NBA GMs. Going to be so upset when the owners come back to try and rape the players in the next round of CBA negotiations and people forget shit like this.

Pretty sure the Nets can't afford humphries with lopez + williams + johnson + crash. They'd be able to pay him peanuts. Unless they don't care about the cap and are willing to pay a substantial luxury. I guess that's a possibility given prokhorov's bankroll. Sure seems like they don't care about money anyways.
Btw, as a starting 5, that lineup isn't bad. It certainly isn't Eastern Conference elite good. But they could be a top 5/6 team in the Eastern Conference. And Williams + Dwight + 3 random scrubs (3 of me for example) would probably be better than that lineup. But the Nets seem committed to putting out a winning team in their first year in Brooklyn. So I think they're willing to screw themselves for the next 3-4 years to make that happen.

Jeeebus Marvin Williams for Devin Harris? Danny Ferry why didn't you come to the Clippers!?!?!

Does this team even win a fucking game vs Miami? yeah that's not a great lineup right now and it's just terrible going forward
Remove JJ and they have hope...Humphries isn't too bad, and Lopez was good two years ago. Bah, they're just trying to sell tickets right away. JJ won't cut it.
|
Oh, may I also add that this may be the best move the ATL franchise has ever made. Now they can trade freely again without that fucking yoke of a contract that is JJ's. Good for them.
|
The main issue I see with that team besides the obvious beating they will take: Defense and rebounding. The East as currently constructed is LOADED with top tier defensive teams. That Nets team looks like an offensive force that will rely on outscoring opponents to win.
If there is anything we've learned about the Eastern Conference since Kevin Garnett showed up that won't work.

Oh my god lol, this guy might overtake LBJ as most hated basketball player soon http://tracking.si.com/2012/07/02/dwight-howard-trade-rumors-nets-mavericks-magic/
Now that the Brooklyn Nets have effectively removed themselves from the Dwight Howard trade talks and acquired Joe Johnson, Howard’s new preferred destination is the Dallas Mavericks, ESPN’s Ric Bucher reported on Twitter.
Most whiny athlete on earth (aside from that one football player whose dad was like an ESPN analyst).

SOON? I maintain that outside of airing the television special (which, however you want to spin it, did directly result in helping 59 Boys & Girls Clubs around the nation), LeBron hasn't done anything wrong. But what Dwight's been doing for the past year+?

Yep, punish the players (who are doing all the work) because of inept front offices. And casual sports fans or non-sports fans will just whine about how players "make too much" anyway.

A lot of people aren't over the TV special, and he was already quite hated to begin with. There's a lot of ground to cover in that unenviable chase, but if anyone can do it, Dwight can! I believe! (lol)

Howard could have made a TV series. singlehandedly would have had boys and girls club running for years. Ppl would be forced to love him more than lbj too since he is helping the kids more.

No more McDonald's ads for Dwight, that much we know for sure lol. Can't stand that clown.

Uh, what are you even trying to say with this post? D12 effectively held the Magic organization hostage for over a year with trade demands and then wound up pussing out at the trade deadline because of the backlash. Half a season later and one LOYALTY shirt later he's right back at it. And Dwight Howard doesn't have a big enough brand to secure a television special if he even wanted one to try to make himself look worse than he already does. He's also nowhere near the level of basketball player that LeBron is. So really, what are you saying here?

I think he was making a joke about how long the DHoward saga has gone on, while taking a shot at people who go CHARITY! @ LBJ's thing.

Oh yeah, I'm silly. A serialized Indecision drama would be pretty fantastic now that I think about it!

I just checked ESPN just now, LOL Nets.
