Later that night, in bed, falling asleep I had a vision. One that would increase the quality of my posts and have considerable upside. I thought, why not make a Post Jar? Much like a swear jar, only putting money in it for every TL post, rather than swearing. I thought, this should make me refrain from making pointless posts such as 'THIS IS AWESOME' or 'SICK GAME' (which I tend to do so often). Thus increasing the quality of my posts while also having a fund to use on all things TL/Starcraft related. Surely I will post more times in a GSL season than the dollar amount for a GOM ticket to watch those very games.
Some people will say this should be used as a punishment, and posting on TL shouldn't be punished. However I prefer to look at it from the perspective of rewarding yourself for making a quality post. For every good post you make, another dollar (or whatever unit you choose) is added and brings you that much closer to being able to afford a cute little reward!
So now, with my increased post quality, my GSL/GSTL tickets should be taken care of. Possibly with a little extra added on the side for a new keyboard/headset (if needed) and all that good stuff. Because hey, we all love good stuff! On top of that, you never have to count how much you have! Because our favorite site/community (TL.net) keeps a running tally just for our convenience! Its right there in your post count! I will be putting 1$ in for every post, starting with post 1001. If I am curious as to how much I've saved up, I just go to my public profile, see that I have (random example) 1076 posts and instantly know theres 76$ in my jar!
After a quick search of TL to see if anyone else had come up with this idea, the closest thing I ran into was this thread by Shanedon: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=326059
So without further ado, I present my very own TL Post Jar:
As you can see its currently empty! I've added the TL logo to the jar for a nice touch! Theres also a small square of lined paper on the back to write in any withdrawls for tickets/goodies for future reference, to keep it easy to calculate how much is left in the jar (TL posts [since jar started] - withdrawls = current amount!)!
Just figured my 1000th post would be a suitable time to unveil this jar, both for the honorary purpose aswell as making the maths side of the TL Post Jar easy!
