I totally can't emphasize how much this simply isn't the case.
Collossi are a boring 1a no-micro unit that causes the matchups with P in them to congregate around collossi deathballs.
Whereas the reaver, with its unique characteristics, caused it to be a unit whose ability to do damage scaled very highly with the micromanagement and multitasking capabilities of the player, leading to some interesting dynamics in all of the P matchups.
The Collossus is, to be quite honest, one of the worst units in SC2 [possibly the worst] from the standpoint of designing an interesting competitive game.
"Collossi are a boring 1a no-micro unit"
Isn't everything in SCII 1a no-micro rooofl... jking don't hate.
I think the point is, in BW, even buggy shits are fun.

Lurkers and scourge don't care, glad they are gone, make pvz easier. I only play protoss. I understood the reasoning behind them at least, with new mechanics, lurkers and scourge are obsolete, lurker will be useless because protoss have a reasonable seige unit in collosi and storm can really rofl over it now.
I was mad with stalker as there is absolutely no point in replacing it. Dragoon did exactly the same role as stalker... what was the point?
LOL? wow, you honestly have no idea what you're talking about reavers are 10x more effective, and theyre hard to use lurkers and scourge is what made zerg different from the rest of the races, sc2 units are much more binary compared to BW in that regard and the role of stalkers and dragoons are also alot different, kids who haven't played BW(like yourself), shouldn't be stating such funny/ridiculous comments

dude, haduken has been a member since 2003. Pretty sure he has played BW -____-

ROFL... The collosi remark was misguided but you honestly can't argue that Collosi wasn't better.
Collosi walks faster, shoots faster and easier to use. Reaver was harder to use because sacrab AI was retarded, it was more fun to use for sure, I never argued that part. But Collosi is 100% better as a siege unit.
How exactly was Reaver 10x more effective? The ONLY situation when it is BETTER was doing a worker harrass AND that's only when the scrab AI was working. Scrab instant kill and that's about it.
How exactly is dragon different to stalker? Maybe you should enlighten me? They both have the same role in a toss army, Stalker have blink, goon doesn't?

Are you comparing two units from two different games in terms of utility? Or that the collossus provides better spectating value than the reaver?
If its the former, that's on the level of the childhood arguments of whether batman would beat spiderman in a fight.
I wasn't really comparing Collosi with reaver. I meant to say I prefer Collosi as to reaver in SCII. If we had the same reaver with the same general design in SCII then it wouldn't be a far stretch to say that Collosi is a superior unit. This was my personal preference and it was a throw away remark. If all you haters are butt hurt over this then fine, I concede, I apologize for the imprecision of my language.
Seriously why are you BW lovers all attacking me lol, go back to my original post in this thread, I ASKED WHY BLIZZARD HAD TO REPLACE DRAGOON WITH STALKERS. I'M ON YOUR SIDE FFS. I only responded as some kid start telling me stalker plays a different role to dragoon, okay, please tell me how, I'm genuinely curious.
Stalkers are much much more mobile that dragoons, less armored and with less firepower. A heavy stalker composition with blink in SC2 is way way way more mobile than a BW army made mostly of dragoons.
I think the important part is that you took the first step and decided that you want to be studious once college starts again. In the meantime, I suggest you try finding a job or at least reading books with subjects you are interested in as well as learning new skills which I believe you wanted to do(piano and guitar).
As for SCII, well, that's natural. I was heavy into games when I was younger but I found that as time passed, I started enjoying games less and less to the point where SCII is the only game I play and even then, it's a couple of games every couple of days. The other two games that I'm even remotely interested in are Diablo III and LoL but I dunno if I'll even end up playing them. I just feel like there are a lot more important things to do outside now and that I would much rather contribute to society
Ive been fighting to come back to consistent sc2 playing but I just cant do it, the game really needs HoTs. The game has become way to fucking stale. To many all-ins, to many "1 big battle GG"s and B.Net 0.2 is a bad combo to have.
You do have to face the getting older thing to, everyone has the same feeling of "Oh my god, when I was a kid i was so mezmorized by games that was my life" Everybody has that man, when your a kid youve never played all these different types of games and had these online experiences not to mention having a ton of time on your hands. You have to realize right now that there are a ton of 8-15 year olds who are losing there shit over how good SC2 is just as you did with BW when you were a kid. Now that your older you cant recreate that same Nostalgia.

i personally had a lot of trouble finding games of bw when i switched over to sc2 and i can't imagine it being any easier now with kespa switching
though it is harder to get tired of bw than sc2 by far lol
If you can make games you will get someone to join in under a minute (pretty much immediately at D levels) on iCCup. It's hard to get BW games if you can't make, but absurdly easy if you can.
i remember when i quit final fantasy 11 after realizing what a horrible game it was. i was addicted for 6 months.
it left a huge vacuum in my life. i was failing school, almost got kicked out. i had no idea what to do.
i tried giving up my computer and a funny thing happened. i would just sit at my desk and stare into space. despite having a ton of homework to do. despite having a lecture to go to. i would sit and stare. i tried replacing it with other things. i played through some other games. watched a ton of anime. but it really felt like i just put a band-aid over a broken bone. i didn't know what the problem was and i didn't know how to fix it.
it took several months to get out of that funk. i don't know what i did, or how i did it. i just know that when the next academic quarter started and after a long summer break, i got my head back in the game, or at least, enough to pass university. i definitely feel like that brief addiction just killed a lot of me and it still had its effects on me.
so, good luck in pursuing your future. i would say something like "don't fall in the same pitfall as me" but since i don't know what caused it or how i got out, it would be nothing but fruitless words.
It starts with battle.net 2.0, moves on to the maps which have finally gotten some what better, onto the game play.
I really believe Browder is destroying this game. How can you have a command and conquer guy make starcraft 2, and bring CnC stuff into sc2 and think it will be great.
HEY BROWDER IF WE WANT CNC WE WILL GET CNC. STOP MAKING UNITS WITH ALL THESE SKILLS. WE WANT MORE BASIC UNITS AND THE USER WILL SHOW THE SKILL OF THE UNIT.
To be honest a hobby is going to be a hobby. Whether or not you believe your hobby is productive or not is up to you but personally I believe that if your hobby is not influencing your physical well being then it's not being very productive.
That means that playing the piano and guitar may be more respectable from an outside opinion than SC2 maybe, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is more productive. However, working out, and studying, getting work done early is very productive because it makes a direct immediate impact on your life.
Gaming doesn't have to be all or nothing. I derp around in master league as zerg, play drums in a band and have a full time job. Yet I still seem to have time to watch more anime than any one I know.
If you don't feel like playing then don't. If you do feel like playing then play. No need to make some sort of dramatic statement about what to do with your life.
I understand I played a fuckload but it didn't hold that same grasp on me as other games. I played Warcraft 3 day in day out for 4+ years that was my true love. Now that I have finished school and have a full time job it doesn't seem "fun" to me to play starcraft, I love Dota 2 and other games but Starcraft 2 killed my RTS side.
I guess it’s because I don't want to invest what time I have when I'm not working or at gym, in studying and trying to be mediocre at a game. When I could play some DotA or sit down and play a game with a storyline and enjoy that. I played through the campaign on SC2 a bit, it kind of blows though.
