I briefly considered writing a campaign song (or maybe just a speech to be read over music), but then I remembered I can't sing and am incredibly lazy. Seeing as there's absolutely no way I could get elected without a halfway decent campaign song, I decided to sit out captain candidacy this time around. Also, I laid out my goals both so that I could be held accountable for them later (otherwise, I might not be so inclined to follow them), and because there are in fact people in the game that may not have considered some of that stuff. Crazy, huh?

"My fellow shipmates The time has come for us to take the righteous stand against those who would tear us apart and kill us. In a time like this, trust and compassion is hard to come by. We must stand together, or we risk losing everything we hold dear. I cannot promise that there will not be sacrifices. The road to victory is paved with hardships, and some of us will die so that the rest of us can live. However, each day, one by one, we will slowly claw our way to survival. For, surely, this is now about survival. We fight, or we die. On each day, we will have the ability to eliminate one potential threat to our well-being. On the first day, this decision will rest in the hands of the captain. However, I feel strongly that the captain should not be alone in the responsibility of making this decision. Every man, woman, and child aboard this ship should have the ability to have their voices heard and to help sway the captain towards deciding who we eventually are forced to remove from amongst us. Additionally, there are bound to be some secrets regarding the goings-on aboard this ship locked within the Captain's Cabin itself. Whoever is elected the Captain must agree to share any perks and benefits, including the old geezer's bottle of scotch, with the rest of the crew, regardless of what it is. However, I would also like to provide a little bit of advice, a word of warning so to speak... I know a lot of us, me included, would not mind being the Captain of this vessel and attempt to guide us all safely back home. But we must be very careful to not dwell too much on the Captain and his role. I have heard tales that in a land far away, one being was chosen by a motley crew of humans similar to us to embrace the role of The Wheatley, but the abilities and mechanics of The Wheatley tore the town apart and distracted them from the matter at hand of hunting scum. I have said all that I feel needed to be said. I will be in my cabin if you all need me. Stand strong, for the worst is yet to come, but through the worst of times, remember that the night is darkest just before the dawn."

What sort of criteria are we looking for in our captain? Or is this one of those things where the wittiest person gets our votes? Right now I'm doing more of a "I won't vote for this person" sort of thing.. and the people I won't be voting for are Zentor, Michaelthe, sandroba and Node. The rest of you guys are fair game!! As for why they got on my "Don't vote" list Zentor- Weird slip there.. I honestly don't believe that it was a scumslip, but I'm not going to take any chances on Day 1. Michaelthe: The whole "random number" thing really made me /huh. So no chance he'll be the captain of my space ship. (that sounds sexual...) Sandroba: The whole "lets add each other on skype" and planning just sounds kind of sneaky.... Node: "I'm determined to play better" is great! However, you sound a bit guilty, so not gonna get my vote. I just want to warn everyone early on- I'm a list maker.. so I apologize... I really find that its the best way to organize my thoughts in an easy to reference way.. I hate walls of text, so the list seems to be the best system for me. (I will keep them short)..

So that's the reason I got on your "don't vote list". Makes perfect sense. For real dude?

I just finished a particularly nasty problem set, so I'll be going to sleep soon and posting more tomorrow. This is the first game I've been in with an election, but as far as I can tell RazorFlash makes sense when he says that the Captain should share whatever information comes with the role with the rest of the crew. So far I haven't seen a particularly convincing case on who to lynch, but I'd be willing to vote for one if it's made.

It's hard to come up with a good lynch on day 1 when we have almost nothing to go on. On the other hand, the mafia know exactly who to lynch for obvious reasons. It's easier for them to pick specific lynch targets to earn our favor. So let's vote someone who promises complete transparency to us. Also if you're running for captaincy, please clearly state it.
