i, for one, will not stand for this blatant sex discrimination by maxim. if hot_bid doesnt want to sue, i will do my part and contact all of maxim's sponsors, make a post on reddit to recruit the pitchforks and potentially make a tl.net thread.

it is up to their discretion and this is for "Gamer Girl" not "Gamer People". i have no idea why you're trying to legitimize male participants for a female contest by nitpicking details while ignoring "Gamer Girl" part. raise your pitchfork if they disqualify transgender or something but hotbid is clearly not finalist worthy.

Because its fun. I can't believe they never put it in the rules you had to be a girl. Seems unprofessional.

It was fun, but it was inevitable that Hotbid was disqualified. I'm sure it was an oversight when they forgot to write a rule that you had to have the XX chromosomes.

either way...it doesnt make sense to me why you're defending male participants for female contest, as the title suggests.

Employees of Sponsor, Gotcast, LLC (“Gotcast”), and Intertaintech Corporation DBA Virgin Gaming ("Virgin Gaming"), any event sponsors, and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and related companies, agencies, the judging panel (collectively, the “Promotion Parties”) and immediate families (defined as parents, children, siblings and spouse and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and those living in the same household, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter, win or vote. Void in Puerto Rico, all U.S. territories and possessions and overseas military installations and where prohibited or restricted by law. People are saying because he had a TL shirt on it could possible disqualify him. Bah you should just take it a little less seriously. Which is like the competition is lacking some serious Gamer Girls. Like Slayers_Jessica, TossGirl, Scarlett, or any girl who has competed seriously in gaming or made an impact as a Girl Gamer. It really is a about who is showing the most skin or has the biggest rack. Why should we take it serious? All I can do is vote for Anna, but I would still like to have some fun at the expense of MAXIM which does nothing but promote a very narrow minded image of women.

no, you trolled as a slow/small minded/stubborn person who cried out for discrimination. i didnt see past that and took it as is, trolling isn't something i'm experienced with. i'll keep a lookout next time. i hope your ways of twisting words is only another attempt at trolling.

This is demonstrably false and has been shown in this thread actually. There may not be SC2 gamers, or 'hardcore competitive' gamers, but there are legitimate women that play video games in the competition. That's even making the concession that one has to play games at some competitive level or play an arbitrary list of certain titles to be a 'gamer.'

There are gamers that fit that description, but thats not what MAXIM wants, and its not what their contest is about. If it really was about that it wouldn't be open to anyone who wanted to make an account. They would have taken time and hand picked a dozen women to symbolized esports and gone with them. And you don't have to be competitive either for me to be happy. If I were to watch Anna's Baneling Costume video then watched a video of a girl playing competitive CS I wouldn't put one a head of the other. But if I watch that video of Anna's followed by one of TradeChats joke videos I would vote Anna a million times over (thats probably mostly personal preference). MAXIM is known for T&A and thats what they want.
