If Flower were to have said "I wish I could vote for Scarlett to show that as a community we are very mature and believe that Scarlett is qualified to be a spokes person for this community, despite being transgendered," that is a mature response, instead the "he he" means, I am not at all mature and am making a joke about someone. Furthermore, said person was enough of a hot button topic that they but a warning in the IPL LR thread to say stop talking about it, which means that it had already caused moderation problems. I can't say that I agree with Scarlett's gender decisions, but that is her decision and hers alone, so no one has any right to poke fun at her because her decision isn't "normal." Lastly, a low post count and troll statement usually results in harsher disciplinary action than someone who has been around a long time. There is also a ban list thread somewhere you can check out to see why decisions were made as well, if you have any more questions. :D i've been wondering what all these scarlett references were about, and now i know it's a player i checked out the fanclub thread and stuff... what's the big deal? she seems like a person having fun playing the game (way better than i ever will).. i'd vote for her

The people get so hung up about people voting for one contestant over another is just silly since it's just a pointless excersice that's meant to give you an illusion of you actually having a say in the matter. Maxim allowed Hotbid to compete in the first round so if you have a problem with Hotbid participating, take it up with Maxim instead of complaining about TL voting for him. No one "when out of their way" to vote for him.

Too bad she doesn't. It doesn't take a genius to point out all the prefab work done on her articles. If she plays, she certainly doesn't write her articles or has much input on them. More than likely she casually games and some one else is writing her persona.

Judging from the IPL livereports I'm sure Smix would crush this competition if she wanted to enter. Especially if there's some sort of bikini shoot involved for the winner

What happened to Hot_Bid? I spent the easter with my family, and all of a sudden the winner has left the tournament? O__O

The obvious sign is in most of her articles, not that one actually more on that later, is that there's an excessive use of exclamation points. While one or two might be used to spice up some writing, the average person uses them extremely infrequently. Professional writers use them to create a persona. In this case its look at me I'm a girl I'm so exited about this topic! Im totally one of you! I'm so cute with how excited I get over mundane things in games! Mario is sooooooo COOL!
Then when articles completely switch writing styles, you are given another clue that she doesn't write her own stuff. Compound this with the fact that her articles are above and beyond the atrocious writing that appears in the rest of the website it becomes obvious that a professional editor and or writer was brought in to doctor her articles.
I'm not discounting that she may actually play a few games, when you consider that socially games are becoming more prevalent it is silly not to. What I'm discounting is that shes truly a hardcore gamer like she says she is. Another example comes in an article where she is defending her self as a gamer, saying that clearly if she wasn't she wouldn't be going after such a niche market. Which is entirely a false sentiment, she adult models who main demographic is males 18-35, who happens to nearly universally play games, in a cultural trend that's highlighting the 'nerd or geek' culture. Shes being completely mainstream, and her writer is trying to be coy and convince you that what you're doing is totally the unique or underground hip thing to do. This is marketing 101 people.
Most of her gaming repertoire is focused on big name titles, when she does reference a lesser known game to attempt to develop gaming street cred, there's an enormous amount of explanation that a normal gamer wouldn't take the time to explain.
There are plenty of girls who play games, and with that there's certainly a lot of hot girls who do so. What the culture should be aware of is that this is one of the many marketing fronts being sold to us. She is selling a product with her sex appeal, one that isn't genuine. Just like the booth babes at gaming conventions rarely could care less about the games they are promoting. Just like the enormous amount of girls brought in to cosplay venues at game conventions and comic cons, most of them are getting paid for their looks, their passion or lack thereof is irrelevant. Obviously there are some true home grown cosplayers, but you should understand that many of them aren't.

It appears that my profile has now been removed. It's okay though, it wasn't a serious entry and I'm glad I helped some people vent about the ridiculousness of the gamer girl term and the contest in general. If you're still interested in it please vote for Anna, she's a good representative of our community.

All check out tradechat, she's a wow player and has her own channel

The reason this 'competition' is a farce is because this has nothing to do with gaming, as I've stated many times before in this thread this is a competition of who's initial pictures has the least clothing and how many pictures showing off their body can they squeeze in. Tradechats winning incentive is a bikini photoshoot for her fans. 90% of the pictures in this competition are people in bras, with their gaming history being FOTM games and a "classic".
If Maxim wanted this to be taken seriously they would of laid down some ground rules that benefit their "gamer" girl target meaning that it would be the focus of their competition not who's got this biggest tits / tightest clothes in their pictures.
But, they don't and as you can see theres maybe a maximum of 10 people on there taking it seriously and trying to meet it for the specified purpose the rest aren't even actually trying to achieve what 90% of you "WHY ARENT YOU TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY THIS IS SUPPORTING FEMALE IMAGE AND NOT DEMEANING THEM" people are on about.
Do I think this decreases the maturity this community shows? Of course it does, but I won't lie, I like a laugh and if the victim is some poorly set up, terribly managed embarassment like this competition is I won't think less of anyone else who joins in with me.

it was invalid entry to begin with and would have not passed the judges as it says on the rules.

People are saying because he had a TL shirt on it could possible disqualify him. But that would probably disqualify the Tradechat girl as well (anyone wearing clothing labeled with anything but MAXIM apparently). They probably just removed him because they could, and he was a lock for the top 3 -_-.
