I doubt they'd be so downright discriminatory if it really came to that. Of course, they're hoping he loses to some hot babe they can flaunt on a magazine cover. As a side note, I haven't seen any interviews lately on Hot_Bid's stance on male cross dressing. Meh, I don't think it would create much ruckus outside of TL if they banned him for a competition aimed for "girls." At the end of the day they are trying to sell magazines and even though the power is strong among the TL community I doubt they'd put hotbid on the front page in a bikini. *shudders* We'll see if he wins.

Wait. Is anyone here seriously entertaining even an inkling of a notion that Maxim will do anything but simply press the LOL/GTFO button and eradicate our hero entirely from their competition as soon as they notice he's there, without any explanation whatsoever to anyone who voted for him?
In the end I'll bet they even won't give a crap about how many votes the actual female contestants get when choosing their winner. TradeChat can sit there with a million votes from actual gamer fans & a ton of WoW hours under her belt but they'll still choose some chick with a "hotter figure" who once played Guitar Hero at a party if it'll sell more subscriptions.

7. SELECTION OF SEMI-FINALISTS, FINALISTS, AND GRAND PRIZE WINNER: The Contest has three phases: (1) the Entry Phase during which Entries are received and public voting will select "Semi-Finalists" (as defined below), (2) a Finals Phase during which judges will select and designate "Finalists" (as defined below), and (3) a Grand Prize Phase during which public voting combined with editorial judging which will determine the Grand Prize Winner (as defined below) who will also be named the "2012 Maxim Gamer Girl".
7-1. ENTRY PHASE - PUBLIC VOTING & SEMI-FINALISTS SELECTION: Each accepted Entry will be available for public viewing on the Site until that Entry is no longer eligible to win the Contest. Visitors who have created a profile on the Site will have the ability to cast a vote for an Entrant based on the Judging Criteria described below during the Contest Period (“Vote”). Limit: 1 Vote per IP person per day. Votes generated by script, macro or other automated means or with the intent to impair the integrity of the voting process will be void. At the conclusion of the Contest Period, the 500 eligible Entrants receiving the most Votes (the “Semi-Finalists”) will then be judged in the manner described below.
7-2. FINALS PHASE - JUDGING (TO DESIGNATE FINALISTS): Each eligible Semi-Finalist will be judged by editors of Sponsor (“Judges”) with no connection to the administration of the Contest. Entries will be judged based on originality, creativity, humor, telegenic presence, and adherence to Contest instructions (the “Judging Criteria”). Judges will select three (3) final contestants (each, a “Finalist” and together, the “Finalists”), which decisions shall be within the sole and absolute discretion of the Judges, and all such decisions shall be final. All Finalists may refer to themselves as a "2012 Maxim Gamer Girl Finalist" in written and descriptive materials such as a resume (without the Maxim logo and trademark), but only if such uses and displays are purely non-commercial and in no event suggest or create any confusion whatsoever that AMG or Maxim Magazine is endorsing or participating in any manner related to the use of its name, makes, fonts or logos.
7-3. GRAND PRIZE PHASE - JUDGING CRITERIA (TO SELECT GRAND PRIZE WINNER): Each Pilot will be available for public viewing on maxim.com from June 22, 2012 to July 13, 2012 (the “Grand Prize Voting Period”). Visitors to maxim.com will have the ability to cast a Vote for a Pilot (each a “Grand Prize Vote” and together, the “Grand Prize Votes”). Limit: 1 Vote for Finalists, per IP address, per day. Grand Prize Votes generated by script, macro or other automated means or with the intent to impair the integrity of the voting process will be void. At the conclusion of the Grand Prize Voting Period, each Pilot will then be judged by the Judges. Pilots will be judged based on the following weighted percentages: number of Grand Prize Votes received (10%), telegenic presence, originality, creativity, humor, and adherence to Contest instructions. (collectively, 90%). The selection of the winning Finalist (the “Grand Prize Winner”) shall be within the sole and absolute discretion of the Judges, and all such decisions shall be final. The Grand Prize Winner may refer to herself as the "2012 Maxim Gamer Girl" in written and descriptive materials such as a resume (without the Maxim logo and trademark and logo), but only if such uses and displays are purely non-commercial and in no event suggest or create any confusion whatsoever that AMG or Maxim Magazine is endorsing or participating in any manner related to the use of its name, makes, fonts or logos.
8. GRAND PRIZE WINNER SELECTION: On or about July 16, 2012, one (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected by the Judges from all eligible Finalist Entries. The Grand Prize award (described below) is subject to verification and will be awarded upon winner validation and verification by Sponsor. The potential winner will be notified by electronic mail, regular postal mail or other traceable method of delivery on or about July 18, 2012. If the initially selected winner is ineligible, cannot be contacted after two (2) attempts by Sponsor, or fails to complete and return any required documents to AMG within five (5) days of receipt of the documents, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected by the Judges from the remaining eligible Finalists.
People don't seem to understand that the voting only nominates the contestants for the semi-final and then it's judges time. The final will also be open for voting but then it's the judges decision in the end anyway. Maybe Hotbid will go through to the final if they think it's good pr but there's no way in hell he'll take the final grand prize thingy when it comes down to the judges a final time. Sad but most likely true. The only way I see Hotbid winning if it becomes "viral" and it gets so much press/attention they'd actually consider giving him the win.

Actually I think some people do understand that and thats why they are voting for Anna and Hotbid... Is the site down or something?
Edit:OH MY GOD I HAD AN IDEA. If THE HOTBID gets in the top 3! They need to let him photobomb the spread with some esports aviators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ASHLVGFIAWG.... Now if only we could get them to agree to it >:D

Is the Maxim site down for everyone? I'm getting runtime errors. I want to vote for my favourite fantasy: Hot_Bid.
|
I am getting the same error as you promethelax.
OT: I wanted to go and vote for Hot_Bid
|
Site is down.

Someone in the IPL4 crowd just called out HOT_BID! when Anna was talking about the competition. Well played guy in the audience, well played indeed.

yes hahaha

Welp I think Hot_Bid has been purged from the competition At least I'm not able to find him there anymore.
EDIT: Confirmed. I followed the link to his profile from another contestant that had him favorited and only got this:
The profile you were trying to view does not exist! Please click back to return to what you were doing.

Odd how Hot_Bid has been removed, yet countless other males are still in the running. Maybe because he actually had a chance? Would've been great to see what the judges thought of him.
|
Yeah, it seems as if Hot Bid has been cleansed from the competition.
|
I don`t care if this is their contest, that`s pathetic that HotBid is gone. I guess they did not want to deal with him actually beingg judged.
|
lol it took them long enough.
Maxim representative: "What the hell, Hotbid!? That's not a woman." (presses delete button)

I pointed out like 20 pages ago that the competition rules clearly forbid any pictures including logos or promotion materials for and other organizations. My guess is Maxim probably wasn't too happy about the TeamLiquid shirt photo, basically giving free advertising to TL.

implying maxim have ever heard of teamliquid

All he's implying is that within their stated rules they had reason to eliminate him from the competition.

Awww, Hot_Bid is gone from the vote.
Oh well. Anna Prosser all the way, then.
