My father wish has finally been granted after a few days of deliberations between the doctors. After writing this i will be on my way to assist my father and mother during the euthanisia held in his room.
About his disease, he was diagnosed 3 years ago with a tumor hanging at the bottom of his left lung. No operation could succeed in rescuing him as the tumor was located too closely to his heart.
The doctors told him he had the non smoker cancer. He never had a cigarette in his hand, drank very few during family meetings, never abused from any unhealthy eating habit. You know, the healthy and the reasonable kind of guy. Pretty disgusting how life can treat some people that showed such respect to his body as he did.
Anyway i will never swallow the fact that he from all of the people i know was the first to suffer and will die from this lung cancer. Life is unfair but let's just move on. He was condemned to die by the doctors but even then he still had the courage to delay during 3 years the inevitable outcome.
I wish him no pain, no suffering, no more. He will be finally freed from his illness as he shouted to the doctors. He never believed in god. His fears of death and anxiety took the best of him during these past weeks. May peace be with him eternally.
To all TL members, experiencing the same situation I wish you all the best to the patient and i hope you will find the patience and courage that is so much needed during this life changing experience.

You are lucky to have the option to choose euthanasia as a way for your father suffering to end in your country. I can't imagine how hard these times are for you though. My condolences to you and your family and hope you all find the strength to recover soon.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
It's a pity that the good can't live longer lives.

i am not religious and i don't believe in god but i do believe if you are a good person during life that the positive energy will follow you through death and only good things will come after your passing.
Stay strong and may your father rest in peace, I'm glad that your country allows euthanasia and that he can leave on his own terms with his family by his side.

Life really is unfair sometimes. You can try all you want and it will still hit you hard when you don't expect it.
My condolences.

Man that's rough. Can't even begin to imagine what your father went through, nor the gravity of the decision he has made. I wish your family all the best, and that you retain the fond memories of your father for many years to come and cherish the small time that you have left.

I'm so sorry to hear that man... stay strong

Man, that is so rough... I'm a doctor and in my country euthanasia is prohibited by law, but some cases have brought the issue on disussion to the congress. Still, in medschools the issue is vastly discussed on our ethics courses... And even though as a professional I may understand it, is still shocks me to hear about a case, because of the huge impact of the decision and everything involved. It is by far the hardest thing you can do in your life... It's such a tough choice to make. I just want to say I wish your family all the best, and as Plexa stated, that you may always retain the good memories and good moments with your father and cherish them in your heart. Your dad is a very brave man. So are you, my friend. May he rest in peace. Stay strong. A big hug from the other side of the world.

How old is he? Scary to think someone middle aged could be hit so hard with cancer like that.

Sounds horrible. I guess the only condolence is that you can prepare in advance for Euthanasia, not that that makes it ok. All the best <3
