I am well aware how well Life is playing as well, but yet it feels like SuperNoVa with his constant drops that by the way deal damage as well and don't just get shut down is doing the better job. I mean, yes he was (very) late on his upgrades and his third base but he decided to apply pressure at the cost of sacrificing upgrade timing and third base.
Polt usually pressures a bit earlier but gets a 3rd base at the cost of upgrades and has to be a bit more defensive after that... so am I the only one getting that impression :/? I hope you were aware of the fact that Life outupgraded SuperNova all game long and of course his job was to defend drops and he did well. I was rooting for Life and at one point where SuperNova almost caught up to the upgrades. However, he never had marauders? No ? After he took down the 3rd of Life with the drop, he could've sat back and defended his 3rd, instead he overextened himself into the 4th of Life. And that was the game ending imo.
I am very well aware of it, thats what I said. He sacrificed his upgrades / expansion timing for the pressure. Usually Zerg would be on 3 bases and you can pressure him so he doesn't take that 4th so easily, but Life managed to do so. Even if you kill the third base of Zerg, it doesn't really mean much to a Zerg since he didn't kill drones to be honest. A few here and there, but never a "damaging" amount. If he sits back on 3 base against this style, he'll get utterly destroyed later on because
- his upgrades are later and will be later, the ultra-timing will be earlier since you won't apply pressure - drops can be shut down a lot more effective as you can prepare with spinecrawlers and get your infestor count up
If he doesn't go ultras but went broodlords instead, you are fucked again if you tried to blindcounter it with marauders so.. yeah. This style just leaves the impression that its easy to execute. I know thats only half-true, but most Zergs I talk to even agree on that. (i.e MorroW's post comparing that style to muta/ling/bane). I'm not saying its imbalanced, just very hard to face.
And a Zerg out-upgrading you is nothing you can really do about if you play standard Terran. Double ebay early on is nothing but a sacrifice of tech and allows Zerg to get a lot of infestors easily as you do not have a tankstack build up. Being even on upgrades with the Zerg but sacrificing tank count for it is worthless, as fungal doesn't care about upgrades.

To all the coaches that picked a T player to represent them: This is why we can't have nice things.

Such a relief even the pro Terrans like SuperNoVa struggle against this style.

yay Life!
Keep the tournament interesting and save us from the terrans!

Life looks like a future champion doesn't he?

God fucking damnit. Tuned in to every stream with terran progamers I've been able to just to watch how they counter this style ._. It's not working well for me.

More like a future member of Slayers as Fionn said above me >_>

NO he will stick with ZeNEX I hope!! Anyway I predicted 3-2 supernova but it looks like life could take this. He 3-0d keen for the iron squid right?

The cloak banshees he's using are mainly for the later stages of the game as an investment against this infestor / ling style, because it takes either a lot of energy and effort to kill cloak banshees with infestors, not to cause a lot of damage to Zerg early. If you still can deal damage - good - if not, you have a tool against infestors.
Like that play from SuperNoVa.

I only just started watching and didn't see the game, but I assume you're talking about the ling (roach) infestor 14ish minute hive style that's becoming more and more popular? That really is very easy to pull off now unfortunately, result of the ghost change that means you don't need to get an advantage midgame as Z to be able to go straight into broodlord infestor corruptor (or ultras).
It's really sad since it's changing what used to be an extremely dynamic matchup into a race for Z to get to lategame.
