Apparently some people are dumb enough to STILL be asking for it, so let's make things clear:
Do NOT ask for re-streams, and do NOT post re-streams.
Do not come here and muddle the thread by bitching about PPV. |

This "spreading esports" shit is a myth. Teams and tournament organisations are businesses, it's as simple as that. "spreading esports" isn't something that they should be doing, it's something that has to be done from the grass roots level, otherwise the entire system becomes top heavy, and once something top heavy collapses it doesn't rebuild very well.
Then again, if you just claim that anything is "For Esports (TM)" then you can get away with anything.
On topic, this is pretty nuts. Hoping for MKP to win UB, Oz and PartinG to beat viOlet/DRG, and then Oz to come back and win the entire thing :D

Show me one company who aren't focused on earning money; you shouldn't hate on MLG for trying to make money, that is what they are designed to do, and if you think they could or should do what they do without money then you are seriously naive. Is PPV right? imo yes, was their execution of it poor? imo yes.
And I welcome you to try "spreading esports" (whatever the fuck that means) without money or showing to corporate interests that you can make money. Business is business.

Wow, now that they have fewer games to cast simultaneously, they're going to show player's PoVs on the alternate streams!! That's so awesome!!!

Making money is spreading esports. If you can't make money off esports then the whole "speading esports" is pointless anyway.

It would be great to have an Oz-like protoss rise to the cream of the crop. Must... copy... builds...

There is a thread, although the topic has been beaten to death by comments similar to your own, where you can continue posting. Leave this thread for the beautiful Starcraft 2 that is to take place on this wonderful Sunday afternoon or evening for those in Europe.

Glad to see since IdrA got knocked out he managed to fill in his time by sorting the music out for these channels...

I think Tumba has been doing an amazing job--I hope we see more and more of him at future MLGs.

At which point does the stream become free?

I cannot quote all of you guys, so let me answer to everyone. 20$ is to much, face it. I paid 60$ for the game, and one third of this should be spent on one weekend ? no matter what players are going to play, and what caster are going to be there, it's just too much. There is a poll on TL somewhere which shows that more than 2/3 ppl haven't paid for MLG. I'm fucking sure that lowering that price to 10$ would have brougt them more than twice more money. It's like with taxes, too much taxes and more employers are going to black economy. Laffer Curve - the pro explenation
All in all, lower prices, less disappointment, more fans, more money.

Go away, there is a 250 page thread about this. This is the MLG day 3 LR thread.
At least you can watch free for an hour and people like MKP being cute on the free stream.

Even though I didn't watch him very often this weekend since there were too many good games on the other streams that I wanted to watch more, he seems like a great caster and really passionate about the game.

Nope.
Do you expect a concert to be cheap just because you bought someone's album?
And you think you're sure that they would have double their customers by halving their price. Why do you think that? It sounds like you're just mad that you're too cheap to spend $20 on a weekend.
