I pmed a few individuals on TL and slasher was the one to reply! I was really stoked because 1) I wasn't really expecting an answer 2) he always seemed to be a cool guy even though he managed to snag my spot during MLG DC.
Anyway, I asked questions about journalism in esports and how he got to where he is now.
Edit: Since the videos were terrible, I decided to take them down and put up a summary.
Getting Started
He got started writing for a friend's metal website.
Never went to college or had journalism classes
Found that with the evolution of the internet, he doesn't need to be an elegant writer in order to share content
Networking/Sources
Pretty much had to scour the internet to find contact information
Used messageboards, irc, aim, msn and sometimes had phone numbers
Be aggressive but not too much or they probably will get pissed at you
Pretty much have to toe the line between pissing off a source and informing your viewers/readers
Preparing for Shows
Always try to find current items when interviewing
Make it very all encompassing
Will find a lot of information even up to the start of the show
Future of eSports Journalism
There is a need for more journalists
Gotfrag was the pinnacle but that got gutted. A lot of writers now doing other things in the industry
Hopefully will have another show with some backers
Sorry about that audio not working out :/
