With the overwhelming number of new users joining every day, it's becoming more and more difficult to individually assist each player in learning how to play in our tournaments so here's a visual step by step guide to help walk you through your first Playhem Daily tournament.
If you're having any problems that aren't outlined here or in our rules (spoiler at the bottom of this thread) you can always contact an admin or ask in channel Playhem for assistance.
1. Finding and joining a tournament
Before you can begin this step, you'll have to have your Starcraft II account attached to your Playhem profile. To do this, log in to the battle.net and click on your name, then your profile:
Copy the address you're currently at into the provided box on Playhem
You can come back to this section at any time by clicking on "Games" at the top to change your information (for example if you have a new account, or name change), or to add other regions to your profile. You can also hit the check mark on this menu at any time to instantly update your rank if you were promoted instead of waiting for the site to update your rank which may take a few days.
Once your profile is set up, it's time to find the right tournament to join. Be sure you only join based on your highest ranked account across all regions!
Depending on the tournament you joined, you'll need to check in during a period before the start of the tournament. For our Dailys you'll be able to start checking in 45 minutes before the start, check in ends the moment the tournament starts and there are no latecomers so make sure you don't miss checking in!
2. Starting the tournament
Once the tournament has begun, it's time to start your first match. The bracket will show up automatically on the same page where you joined and you'll be shown your first opponent and which map to play on.
Take this information to Starcraft II and find your opponent, one of you will need to host the game and invite the other.
When hosting the game, make sure you're using the exact map listed! If the bracket says "Tal'Darim Altar LE" you must use that version and not "GSL Tal'Darim Altar LE" or "Tal'Darim Altar LE super version" etc.
A good tip to use here is to put a plus sign "+" before each word of the name, this will tell the search to look for these words exactly. If your map is "MLG Shattered Temple" you can search for "+MLG +Shattered +Temple"
You can use the +Player button to invite your opponent now that you've added him as a friend
3. Reporting your match
Once you have won your match, you will report your results directly to the bracket by uploading your replay. Make sure you upload only the correct replays! The site will automatically determine who won and update the brackets for you. In the case of a best of 3 series, upload all the replays in the order they were played - either after each game or at the end of the series. If you need help with this step, there's a video on the page to show you how.
After your match has ended and you've moved up in the bracket, you'll either have your next opponent assigned if they are also finished, or you'll need to wait for their match to complete.
The brackets will automatically update on your screen when your next opponent has uploaded his replay and you can begin your next game immediately.
4. Getting help
If at any time during the tournament you need assistance, first consider if the problem is a commonly answered question. Most questions are answered in our rules (spoiler at the bottom of this thread) or here. If your problem requires intervention from an admin, you can click the information & rules tab to see a list of the commissioners that are available for the Daily.
When contacting any of the admins, please be concise about your problem and always mention which tournament you're playing in by name so that we can help you more effectively.
Depending on how busy it is, you may not get a reply for several minutes as problems are addressed in the order we get them (often very many at once).
5. Prizes
After all tournaments have ended for the day, we manually add cash prizes to the winners accounts (this part is not automatic so you may need to be a bit patient). Once you've won, you do not need to stay online or contact an admin. You'll find your winnings at the top right of the page next to your points.
You can save up your winnings or withdraw them to PayPal at any time:
This portion is also automatic, your prize should show up in your PayPal account almost immediately!
If you have any other issues or questions that aren't addressed here, you can message myself or the other admins any time and we'll be happy to help.
