"friend·ship/ˈfrendˌSHip/ Noun:
1. The emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends. 2. A relationship between friends."
I want to learn how to make friends. It always looks so easy in reality. It's so easy to do on the internet.
It appears that I want to befriend people irl who play sc2. Making friends with other girls is easy but it's not that often that they play games.
Typically, I can do in person as well; however, this changes as soon as they show they play sc2, in whatever way they manage to. As an example, there's this guy in my class and I want to befriend him because he seems to play sc2 (why else would he be wearing a shirt that says "My life for Aiur" ?), but since I found out he plays sc2 (I was actually able to say something to him before I found this out) I actually can't talk to him.
Maybe it's because he's a guy. That very well could be it. More likely, I'm just shy.
How do I strike up a conversation with someone without seeming creepy? I'm paranoid I'll look weird in any conversation possible.
I want more friends because mine are either not in the town I go to school in, or they're busy when I'm not (most times). Also my boyfriend's going away soon so I'll have even less people to hang out with. Dorms are already lonely in their current state. Not like I know anywhere in this town to hang out. Not going to bars or anything, especially not alone.
Also, anyone on Vancouver Island who reads this should talk to me. If you're on this site, you're pretty decent in my books.
Friendship is a nice thing and I often wish I'd had more friends as a kid. But not the partying kind. I often feel I have more energy after I hang out with friends.

If you are too shy, but want to get in contact with other people that play starcraft 2, one solution is to actually make it known that you are into starcraft 2 - maybe they will contact you?
I'd suggest simply buying some t-shirts like he had, or for your favorite team. or whatever.
I know for a fact that I could not have not struck up a conversation with a girl wearing something like this: http://artosis.tv/thehandsomenerd/nerdette/apm-on-the-brain-nerdette/

If you feel nervous, be nervous
If you feel awkward, be awkward.
There's nothing wrong with that.
I love awkward people.

Hello. How are you. I am looking for friends as well. Since you appear also to be looking for friendship, I will recommend you some good ones should I meet any friends.

I actually think the "wear an sc2 shirt also" idea is pretty good. Plus, sc2 shirts are cool. I'm sure if other people see you in an sc2 shirt (you can even go for a subtle TL one or something if you'd like) they will strike up a conversation.

just be yourself and you'll be good! and making friends who has same interest are always a good way to start

Make SC2 friends as well. Skype is the "meeting up at the pub" for the modern age!
Also, anyone with a SC2 shirt is a winner and you should go talk to him, nerves or not. I agree that you should also wear a sc2 shirt!

true, i would love that girl forever, lol... in a good way, you know, friends forever... i'll try using sc:bw shirts, need to get one...
and more presicely for the OP, about the guy in particular, you can always go with something like: hi, play sc2?/ wanna play sometime/ .... and as the talking advances more RL topics will appear... also chances are that guy is more "afraid" than you are xd.

Only thing that sucks about sc2 shirts is the best ones are meant for guys. Girl ones are like never in stock.

Maybe you would want to start off with, "En Taro Adun, Executor, from which Protoss tribe do you hail from?"

If I was the dude in SC2 shirt, I'd be kind of creeped out if that's the first ever words from a stranger. I think that's sort of an all-or-nothing kind of approach.
Uh, just go straight up and compliment his shirt, and say you enjoy playing SC2 on your spare time as well. Naturally exchange names, Bnet accounts, and now you've got a new gamer friend, yay!
