We are not inviting fan favourites to this tournament. We had that last time, this one is designed to be a more serious tournament with players who have proven themselves and darkhorses who have the potential for upsets.
That doesn't mean you won't like the players we've chosen, but this time, we aren't fucking around. We think this line-up the most finely balanced yet in terms of player-skill. There is no player who is obviously stronger or weaker by any significant amount, all are capable of winning this tournament as far as I'm concerned and doing so straight-up without some fluke.

So many people posting here with sub-20 posts :S just a strange occurrence.
Colin Smith is saving the hell out of ESPORTS.

Well we linked it on my twitter so it's likely that lurkers came here to post.

I like the new system I would love to see more tournaments adopt the "bounty" system in the future.

Looks great!
I will admit I had hoped you would have been a bit more progressive with the map pool, nonetheless, its not cringe-worthy so I guess that works ;].

Hey, would paying more to a 3rd place finisher than a 4th place finisher solve the meaningless games problem better than the current one? My brain is not functioning properly at 6am in the morning to figure that one out.
Anyway, gonna be awesome tournament as always. Will surely tune in.

Wouldn't work, it is possible for 2 players in a group to go 1-2 and then the prize would end up getting determined by something janky like mapscore or head-to-head. Not keen on differentiating prize money based on such factors.

Well read these forums. I wanted to show my support, twitter does not have enough room to sum up my excitement for this event. Its probably one of the few SC2 events I sit down and watch the whole thing in gleeful bliss.

Nice, the TB d.Apollo casting team is one of my favorites. Nice to hear it wont just be fan-favorites, finally more attention for more talented and skillful players.

just make sure you're not in a position where you're too stressed TB. not good for the audience or you, your number 1 priority is to be as healthily minded as possible. the tournament comes after that imo.
that aside, looking forward to this. i can't remember exactly but in US the broadcast is at a bad timezone so i can only catch the finals (at least i think)m so maybe try fix that at some point? anyways, i like the format and everything looks good

Homestory Cup followed by a Shoutcraft Invitational, 2012 looking stellar so far.

Hmm but isn't the big factor in 4 group play the cases 3-0 1-2 1-2 1-2 and 2-1 2-1 2-1 0-3 scores, where qualifying and not qualifying is decided by maps scores? And I think not qualifying is much bigger thing than not getting 50 bucks decided by map score.

Well it is a weekend. There's no real way to avoid it being rather early for west-coast US guys due to the nature of the first-day format. East coast should be ok if they're willing to get up early.
We may run a rebroadcast for US guys overnight if it's practical to do so.

I am looking forward to that! Nice to hear that former champion socke will be there. Always a pleasure to see him play. I am excited about the player announcement. Hoping to see HasuObs, mana and thorzain aswell. Or at least Kas, Ret, Grubby, Kiwikaki?

shoutcraft tournaments are always worth watching as they are short, quick and to the point! cant wait to see who the players are.

Unfortunately no idra or huk i believe, since they will be in korea. But maybe viOLet? He currently resides in North America and I would love to see more of him =)

I missed the invitational #3. Who was the champion who will be invited back?

Yeah, IdrA and HuK will be invited to any Korean-centric tournament we organise. Some of the delays that caused the lack of tournaments at the end of 2011 were due to trying to organise SCI4 as the Korean tournament, which HuK and a few Koreans had confirmed for. Unfortunately due to a ton of problems with communicating with the Korean teams we weren't able to nail down a full roster.
It'll still happen, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Really looking forward to it, these Invitationals are always great. Minor complaint, I really don't like Dual Sight as a tournament map, especially in the PvZ matchup, but if the players are okay with it then I guess I might be making a big deal out of nothing.
