What did prankster do?
They could rig the Police Cheif's results if he watched target player.

As for Hydra's, I think in a normal game of Mafia, it would be ok. But as you said in your post, having twice the popularity in one person really nullifies the ability of other people to be elected if they have no reputation to play with. I think it was an awesome mechanic, especially seeing how now the different powers could have swayed things this and that, and how each elected official had some counter mechanic that could help the mafia as well. I just thing the power that a Hydra possess (double the popularity, double the reputation, double the scum-hunting, ect. ect.) really hurts other people who would want to get a shot. I guess the simple answer is to play more and build you're own reputation, right? :p

Note though, even without the hydra aspect, Radfield was a guaranteed day 1 vote, and the only solution to that is to play more. This forums is far from elitist against people who put the time in to do stuff. 8 months ago no one had even heard of me and syllogism, so the reputation builds really fast if you play a few games and always try your best.

At least until the night where he paniced because of my wifoming and no roleblock happened. Did you decide not to roleblock anyone because of my watcher ability? Oddly enough, Sheth sounded pretty sure in the QT that you were just bluffing, so I'm not quite sure what he was doing there - disastrous attempt to gain towncred, maybe. He actually roleblocked Greymist. My preference was Zeks.

In a normal setup they may be fine, but in a popularity contest with the elections, I think they were a bit too powerful. There were also cases where one player wasn't pulling their weight and it ended up being more detrimental than beneficial. Hydras are utter bullshit and should be disallowed. They bestow a terribly unfair and town sided advantage. They have most of the benefits of masons (being able to bounce ideas off each other, extra analysis, more eyes reading the thread, the ability to have someone on at most times to react to events), are harder to read as scum, (since its easier to homogenize a style), and are generally unfair. Much like in poker you only allow one player per hand, I see no reason why two or more players should ever be allowed to share an account. Someone is going to bring up "isn't the second player like a coach?". and to that I say simply this, the investment a coach or an outside adviser has in the game is a lot less than that of a player on a hydra team, and that advice is not nearly the same as executing actual plays, it the difference between having flash yelling advice at you as you play a TvT and playing with him as your teammate in a Team Meele. At worst with a hydra you have one player carrying the account, at best you have two incredible analysts piggybacking off each other and bringing their strengths to the foreground, giving them advantages that they would never otherwise enjoy.

My play wasn't the best this game, but I figured that if I was a 2 shit medic all I had to do was survive till day3, at which point I could start turning it on. Obviously I never used my prankster ability, but the fact that it was a negative ability and jan presented two town plans lead me to believe he was lying, as every election so far had a positive and a negative ability. I actually got super suspicious of radfield when I was getting pushed to be lynched. My thought was why would scum RB rad and shoot palmar when they were onviously worried about rads daytime power and palmers night time one. I would have done it in the opposite order. Of course this was before Sheth flipped, but I actually had an entire post against rad written in case I couldn't escape the lynch, haha. Gg town! Thanks for hosting guys!

Sorry about the scumreads right near the beginning. It is my first game, and I was kind of tired when I made those posts. I'm going to try to get in another game after school starts up again, and I'm going to do much better this time. gg guys

Also i would like to thank Kita for giving me medic so I could keep my record of never being lynched as town alive.

Some things that confused me: Curu's election over Deus Jaj's election over Refallen Why Radfield protected me over Zeks after I told him I had no dt ability Why people thought nycz was scum Why my friend voted Zentor day 1 I kept hinting that I thought he was a bad lynch choice and bringing up other people for him to look at, but oh well. Also my friend had just caught back up to about page 125 when jaj conceded. I was hoping he would be a lot more active than he ended up being after going home for winter break, oh well. Maybe I can convince him to join a newbie game on his own and actually play it. @Greymist I was pretty sure you had some ability to frame the check with prankster after I got my role. vig shots + medic protects one day, mason topic + spying on it another, so clearly the watching + messing with the watching would make the most sense. I asked about it on the last day because I just got tired of waiting to find out what it was for sure :-D I'm glad to see my breadcrumbing/communicating with Radfield/Zeks was not interpreted correctly by scum. I was afraid I made it too obvious. Good effort Cascades, jaj, and Sheth. You guys were in a pretty deep hole after day 2, but made the best of it. I should have actually pushed for a Sheth lynch after the Greymist lynch fell apart....but it was Sheth! Couldn't bring myself to do it yet :3 Thanks for hosting kita/cyber, it was an interesting setup. I don't think balance was at fault, erandorr/curu and dropbear/bum just gave themselves away to those familiar with their play very early on, and then scum was down a kp, lost almost all their electability, and lost the guidance of their vets. I do think hydras are town favored if they are 2 vets though. As for introducing people to mafia, I think a newbie game is definitely a better way to do it than hydras, but those aren't always starting at convenient times/don't always have Sheth playing in them to help convince your friend to give it a try :-P

That would have left us with a very different game indeed.
