Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

We were discussing the reasons behind why a large portion of the gay community are atheists. And you put on a video of a talk that opens with an attack on Christianity, Sure I 100% agree with what he said. It is a good Vid, how the hell is this REMOTELY relevant? I couldn't care LESS for Christianity ffs.
This just looks like an attempt to incite argument.

My straight friends are always asking me for the weird advice like that. I've actually had less sex than them so it makes no sense why they would ask me of all people but for some reason they fell more comfortable asking me than someone else.
Oh, I also read an article that cited a study that said that gay men have penises that are an average of an inch longer than straight men's penises. Go us!
My thoughts on the subject are pretty much just that most main stream religions shun homosexuality in one way or another, or at the very least, make it seem uncomfortable and unnatural. This has two effects. First off, people who are religious in christianity, catholicism, judeaism (sp, too bad. XD), islam, etc. etc. and feel as though they have an experience that makes them question their sexuality try to avoid it entirely, and go towards not accepting that feeling as truth or experimenting in any way to decide if it makes them happier. The second reason (in my mind, anyways) would be that in times where gays are not exactly accepted in society, and are criticized by some for being gay, it tends to be the more religious ones that criticize them for homosexuality 9/10 times (westboro baptists anyone?).
From my own personal thoughts on the latter subject, I have almost always been an atheist just because I find that all religions are more difficult to believe in their stories/history of creationism and miracles. However, if god were to come down here and say to my face "listen you little retard, bieber sold his soul to satan for popularity but at least he believes in me." Then I'm PRETTY SURE my views would change. Until that point, I was born in a christian family, saw some of the points where the bible (new testament) seems weird, or contradicts itself, and how many religions there are in the world and chose atheism for mine. If I were forced to pick a religion at gunpoint, I like buddhism. It's very peaceloving, uncaring about other religions, and is more a book of guidance (depending on the way you look at it and which form of buddhism you practice) rather than a way to live life.
Is my rambling done? I don't know... I can't tell if what i've wrote made any sense. Just woke up. X_X

Basically, our dicks are larger than a straight man's in every way. And the difference is great enough that we've actually skewed the population average. I was wrong though, we're not a whole inch longer, just a third of a inch. But we're also thicker. Oh well, WHACHOO GUNNA DO WIT ALL DAT JUNK?!

No wonder we're not allowed to have families and lead normal lives. Our kids would all be super smart and have giant thunder dicks. We'd take over the world in no time!

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but isn't that mostly because you need a higher level of intelligence to acknowledge that you aren't like the rest of the world wants you to be? Can't contribute to the junk-size part, but I'm pretty sure that the whole process of not going with the flow lifestyle (and that especially goes for trans people) requires a certain level or intelligence to pull through. In an ideal world not only the smart cookies would get to choose to live their lives the way they want to, but everyone. As it is, enjoy being smarter and please hurry with the overtaking the world plan, because I could do without stupid dicks all the time!

Oh happy story! I had a get together with some old high school friends tonight who had kinda dropped off the face of the earth. They're all ok that I'm gay! It was actually a perk I needed. I really shouldn't be so caught up in what other people think of me but this stuff is still nice.

I dunno. It has been really easy for me since I converted.
how do you manage the contradiction between your religion and your sexual nature? I have a feeling what your answer will be, so I'll ask you why choose to be a christian in particular when you could go to another religion that would give you no contradiction?
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this:
To me, there isn't a contradiction. The only real "rules" of Christianity are to love God and love people. The rest is just extra fluff. There is a line to be walked between following the teaches to the exact letter and taking liberties with interpretation. The easiest way to traverse that line is to do what follows the love God and love people rule.
I don't feel conflicted or torn when it comes to who I love because, it I wasn't to be this way, I wouldn't be. Boosh.

Yeah, I'm not sure if its a result of actual brain differences, or just the amount of introspection required growing up coming to terms with being different from most in a really core way.

Correlation != causation
The intelligence assumptions should, and more likely are more closely linked to the various differences in socioeconimc and demographical differences. My totally unprofessional opinion would be that the classes of americans willing to be more open about beign identified as gay would actually be the more educated/wealthier subsets of classes, thus skewing the results.
Now if the the study actually went as far as to account for all the various demographical variables, I'd be pretty impressed, though I doubt it actually happened.
