So... time is running out, and I'm not sure what to get my GF.
She just bought a nice lenovo laptop, and last year I got her a clap light. She was joking about it about a month before how funny it would be to have a claplight, and so I got her one (last minute but got it in time lol).
Not really sure what to get her. I checked out that site "thisiswhyimbroke.com" to see if anything there would be neat, but all that stuff was super expensive, not to mention not really... a great gift.
Just wondering what would be a good gift. I'm thinking maybe a mousepad or something? Someone got her a funny thermus that says "Im a huge metal fan" with some fan saying it, and then a metalhead going "me too!" and she liked that... yea. that's all I really have to go off, I suppose. I'm not trying to spend more than $20, $50 is probably the top top limit for it. Every site just says diamonds and crazy crap like that, she's not into chocolate, and any candy or food I'd get her would most likely be eaten by myself and she'd probably not be crazy about me buying 'myself' some candy or food.

Buy her some perfume, that usually goes well, just don't buy something cheap or she will know.
If you are willing to spend a little bit more, a manicure, pedicure, or some massage in your local area.
|
What type of girl is she?
You can always default to a nice eye shadow compact or lip gloss. Lip gloss is under $20, eye shadow compacts (ones from like Ulta, Sephora, Macys, etc) will run you a bit more.
|
Can't you make her something? In my experience, girls love it when you actually put the effort into doing something for them. You could also plan a day where you'll just pamper her nonstop and do a bunch of random stuff that she loves with her.
|
just buy her a nice dinner

I got my girl friend a snow pants when we are going to snowboard, because she loves snowboard. Ask yourself this simple question, "what does she likes?" It sort of helped me :D.

She's not the kind I think to want perfume, and I wouldn't know what to get. I don't think she'd care for that, and i'm sure she'd say the clap thing was a better present. It was like an adapter thing where you plug things into it, and you clap to turn it on/off, so you plug a lamp into it, and then, you know, clap clap. It was fun.
I suppose buying a manicure or something could work. We're moving in a few days, so... lol.

I suppose not the kind of girl that wears make-up ;/
Can't you make her something?
I dont think making her some scarf would be the best thing, and I'm pretty sure she wouldn't expect that from me. I mean, which could be great, but then, I don't think she'd be crazy about me making a scarf for her. I suppose she'd like it...
just buy her a nice dinner
Maybe that could work. We're going down to atlanta to check out the apartment before we sign the lease, maybe I can look up a nice place there.

I don't really know what to say about non-teenage girls, but I will try my best and go for the usual nail polish and/or scarf.

Hm okay, I suppose dinner works. Not the most creative gift I suppose, but can't get a clap light every year (although it did break...). I suppose when we head to atlanta the day after xmas, illl take her somewhere there, you know, do the research and such.
and I hate korean food, for the most part. Maybe I'm just too japanese.

Do you remember where is the first time you met her? You should buy something that reminds you of the first time you guys met each other along with a well written letter expressing how lucky you are to have met her that day. It's cheap but very thoughtful!

I think Forgottenfrog might have hit the spot. Giving her something that reminds her the first time you met, your first date or something like that is actually very thoughtful. I'd go for that. GL! :D

it's just christmas... unless she's the type of girl that everything has to have meaning, just get her something that relates to her one of her hobbies, i'm sure she'll enjoy that. no need to bust your balls when it's not even your anniversary, save your ideas my friend.
example: my girlfriend is a science geek, so i got her a newtons cradle. she was over joyed. cost me 10bucks had good sex that night win-win

I met her college, at a school she transferred out of because she hated it, and she enjoyed the new school much more, and I enjoyed living in that area more when I graduated. We were joking today about how stupid someone was for still having a sticker from our university. It's a good school, don't get me wrong, a very good school, just not fun, not big, not many programs, and well, not as good for a career I suppose.
And I'm not in high school anymore, I don't think a note would be great. She's also pretty aware that I'm an asshole (im sure some of you are familiar with my posting and can understand), she loves me course, and we joke around a lot and have fun, but she'd probably find it pretty out of character if I wrote a note.
Although I suppose I could do something with that. Never bad to tell your girl you love her. But if I gave her just only a letter I think she'd laugh. Not that she's shallow, she'd be perfectly happy with a gift I made or got for free, but I think she'd find it as a joke maybe, or maybe as me not remembering a present.

Hm... hobby. I don't know. We're young man, no hobbies really. I play SC, she has a new laptop. Girls don't have hobbies, that's a guy thing (you dont hear of girls who play warhammer or SC or paints models or collects stamps et cetera).
As for your girlfriend being a science geek, well my GF is a science geek. I think she'd totally dig something like that. I don't know what a newton's cradle is but I'll check it out, anything else like that? I think my gf would love stuff like that.

I think my gf would love stuff like that. i dunno bro most girls i've met do have an area of interest. and if not straight up hobbies (like playing the piano or something) they have certain things they like. my gf likes big bang theory so i bought her the first season of the show and a soft kity sweet kity tshirt, it killed her. anyways another thing i was thinking of getting her one of these days is a galileo thermometer or since i know she's into retro stuff a lava lamp. (just in case you're not familiar with the thermometer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_thermometer). in my experience getting girls stuff they will use is a bad idea, cuz they might feel obligated to use it even though they don't want to or they wont use it which means you wasted your money. so the easiest and best gifts are the one's that she haven't already thought of getting, like getting her something for her laptop is "nice" but she would of gotten it anyways if she really needed one, like seriously dude a mouse pad? -_-

get her a gift card to a store she buys her clothes from. that way a) she knows you notice what she wears b) you don't have to worry bout picking out something she'll hopefully like c) she can purchase whatever she wants. when my wife doesn't give me specifics for b-day, v-day, anniversary, christmas out come the gift cards. ezpz gift

I think maybe I buy that galileo thermometer.

take her downtown and spend the day with her, end the day at a really nice restaurant...make it more than just christmas, and make it sound like you really want to be with her
holy shit i need a girlfriend

Its funny that you jump to that instead of thinking the poster is a teenage girl but sadly more likely on online video game forums
