This will be my first blog post since moving my blog exclusively to team liquid! Again in the same scenario that i have been in every time i've written one of these blogs. Sitting in my 2nd period class, bored to tears by the lack of assignments, the absence of correct teaching, and frequent substitutes.
Generally, this blog post is mostly going to be about different gear used for gaming, my gear, and my dream gear. Lets begin! So for a while before playing Starcraft 2, i had been playing World of Warcraft exclusively in the Arena setting and that was literally the only aspect of the game that appealed to me. I like to be competitive in gaming, and it was the only thing in the game that wasn't as laughable as the others (yet still laughable). To improve my play i purchased a Razer Lycosa and a Razer Naga, and the devices helped a bit after i forced myself to start using them.
Just my luck, i actually soon quit the game altogether about a month after getting these items and started allocating all of my free time to starcraft 2. As of right now i am still using the Lycosa for my Starcraft play, but now use my brothers death adder (i love it so much), trading him my lycosa because he frequently plays League of Legends and it is a better mouse for that game i feel.
Now my review of the lycosa is quite simple. Its just a keyboard. The only special aspect of the keyboard is the blue backlighting and the macro abilities (but everything has that now). I wouldn't suggest anyone really purchasing it if they plan to use it for Starcraft 2 gaming or any RTS gaming period. I frequently experience usb connectivity problems with the keyboard, but asides that its a mediocre keyboard at best.
Regarding mice, i'm definitely content at the moment with my death adder and feel its dpi settings are incredible and its ergonomics are pretty good. I don't plan on purchasing a different mouse in the future as of now, at one point i was considering on purchasing a SteelSeries Sensei, but didn't feel it was necessary to drop the cash on a mouse i didn't really need.
Now back to the keyboard crisis. I've looked good and hard for an impressive mechanical keyboard and found many. Firstly, i examined and read many reviews of the SteelSeries keyboards, in particular the 6GV2 and find the keymappings and the large enter key extremely unappealing to me, so i passed. The other steelseries keyboard i was looking at is the 7G, but found the incredibly large wrist plate a turn-off due to my lack of sufficient desk space. Besides my specific issues with the keyboard, reviews claim the keyboards are good but there are better. So my quest continues!
Eventually retracing to my Razer roots, i examined the Black Widow and found it somewhat appealing but then i considered the faulty-aspect i've experienced with Razer products in the past. I read some reviews and comparisons and generally gave up on making myself believe the black widow was the right choice.
Lastly but not least, i finally consulted my friends regarding mechanical keyboards. Almost immediately with much passion i was suggested to the Das Keyboard. I examined the keyboards, the price tag, and read reviews. I was in love. I quickly suggested this to my family members, and expect it to be under the tree on Christmas eve! (LOL)
What keyboards do you guys use? Whats your opinion of it? What mouse do you use and what is your opinion of it? Post below with some feedback and ideas.
