iCCup Sanshorn Mists AE Remade by: SUPEROUMAN Currently Published On: North America, Europe, Korea, China
This is the remake from Konicki's old map, many changes have been made all over the map. The main shape has been modified, the natural mineral formation has been moved a little bit, the 3rd has been also moved and the island has minor changes. The 4th have more minerals and the gold had a major change, it is now next to the main cliff. Line of sight blockers around the Towers have been removed, the middle highground path have now a more natural shape.

From the anniversary map thread
The original Sanshorn Mists was a map that was truly ahead of it's time. It has many concepts on it that were not able to be used when it was created. Players did not understand how to play a very open map, with multiple easy to take bases. Games when the first version was released were mostly one base or two base all ins.
It came to my attention several months ago that Sanshorn Mists put into modern play would probably work very well. So we did a silent test on the Korean Weekly. We had several games on it to verify that it would not all be one base cheeses and such. The results were fantastic, with it playing out as a true two player macro map like no other. It was from this that the idea for the AE Maps was born.
You will notice this is the map that underwent the least change from the orginal, as most of the the problems lied in the visual department, and not terrain features. We feel with this visual upgrade as well as some other small changes (adding more pathing routes) that Sanshorn Mists will be the go to for 2 player macro maps in the future.

That would be nice so the map could be split both ways... but it would make the gold a bit too hard to take as a 3rd I think. Once you're on 5 bases, the opponent will probably be done with his main anyway though.

This map is fucking awesome cause it has islands and I was so sad that nobody ever used islands anymore and we don't even really know how islands would play out in today's gameplay! Soo looking forward to see matches on this map now that it has been updated and also looks super sweet

This map now has the Leenock stamp of approval! I was talking to him about the maps and he said he think this is a very balanced map ^^!

I think that the gold base will atleast be an intresting test in a more progessed metagame. Same with the islands. Maybe the gold needs to be blocked off with rocks thou? Definitely wanna see how games progress on this thou

Add TheSTC stamp of approval to Leenock's with this. Had a face to face with TheSTC at IPL and 1: his English is actually really good, and 2: he thinks this is a good map that's really balanced. MC and Alive seemed to agree but I did not have a translator with me so I can't say for sure.

Hm, is it me or does this map have a Dual Sight feel in it? More importantly, I hope to see this map used in tournaments more, hopefully even GSL hehe ;D

Wow, this is such a nice map as I just saw on the ESV weekly. I love the possibility to expand in two directions as well as the addition of some island expansions. I love island expansions as they make for such interesting play sometimes.

I feel like I havn't watched enough games (only one actually, shame on me) on this to have an opinion. There's a trend in removing the gold bases from maps now. Do you think it should be done here too. If not, why not?

well golds are a comeback killer and if someone falls behind and are in no position to push out, they still have to, because the opponent will grab the gold and just keep the contain until the opponent is mined out. (the other problems with golds can be solved by rocks). So its not happening alot, but a small part of the games are just decided after 10 minutes bug go on for 20, because of the gold advantage. (if you contain the opponent the position of the gold is unimportant heh)
Anyway i love this map ^.^ , games look pretty cool on it and lots of action, though people forgot how to deal with islands ^^; .

Golds sucked on this map. No one took the actual 3rd, everyone just took the gold as a third and it became a struggle to see who could hold a gold longer.
They actually completely broke the map .

The design looks fantastic. I would say this is solid map in all regards. I would also say it's a typical map. I've seen maps with a tower in the center and bases along the edges already. Maybe this one is the pinnacle of that type of map, but I guess I'm itching for something new.
EDIT: It is quite lovely, by the way.

3 things: 1. You may want to update the OP, it still has reference to Gold bases 2. This map is in the upcoming IPL TAC, which is awesome 3. Because of this, Superouman is now officially the map making bonjwa.
