I wouldn't expect any kpop idol to not do plastic surgery either, but if IU did it and made a public claim, I'm sure it would've been all over akp or some other kpop news oriented site but now.
After some extensive digging, I haven't found anything. Maybe it's just that recent? I dunno.
As for the better PR theory, maybe. I'm no expert on plastic surgery, but her eyes look awfully similar to her pre-debut pictures (unless those were taken after the surgery?). Either way, I don't really care, the concept of plastic surgery doesn't slightly irk me at all - humans are vain animals. But I do love her voice though.

Seems like that's the best way to see it, even though it's kinda sad that girls under 20 do it. One thing i've noticed is that more or less all idols have fake teeth. Not even hollywood actresses have such white and completely straight teeth. :D
Fake teeth? You mean the probability of braces throughout their trainee years with regular bleaching, and just generally good care of them?
I would say that I actually know teeth very well (due to several members of my family being orthodontists), and I'm telling you it's extremely bad to pull out real teeth to drill in fake capped ones.

I might've chosen the wrong word for it. To me veneers are fake teeth, and it seems like every korean celebrity has those.
