PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- With traditional manner, Huk, Evil Geniuses, patted Hero, Team Liquid, on the back after sweeping him in round four of the winner's bracket Saturday night at MLG Providence.
On Xel'naga Caverns, Hero opened with a four gate, and managed to march five stalkers into Huk's base, but a timely completion of warp gate allowed Huk to push back Hero's initial stalkers and warp in two sentries to force-field the ramp. Meanwhile, Huk planted a proxy pylon in the natural expansion of Hero, and counterattacked with three zealots, forcing Hero's army to retreat and deal with the damage.
Huk followed Hero's army home, and warped in a sentry to force-field the ramp into Hero's main base which ended in the death of Hero's main army. Hero tried to hold on with probes, force-fields and last minute warp-ins, but Huk's force was too strong for Hero to overcome. Hero surrendered, and sank his head into his hands before continuing into game two.
Hero chose Dual Sight for game two with the purpose of a proxy two-gate in the bottom of Huk's main base. Huk scouted Hero's base after his gateway, saw nothing, and immediately built a forge while chronoboosting zealots to defend. After adding a cannon in his mineral line, Huk's precise micro and flawless zealot control held off Hero's initial rush without losing a probe despite using them in the battle.
After killing the first few zealots, Huk counterattacked into Hero's main base and killed off two probes, a fifth of Hero's economy at the time, and continued to chronoboost his warpgate tech while investing in additional warp gates. With the advent of warp gates, Hero's constant pressure ceased, and Huk rushed to Hero's base just as Hero bowed out to advance Huk.
Huk will battle Naniwa in the winners round five tomorrow afternoon.
