Of course it's rude, but he isn't make it easy on us by basically saying, "Fuck you all, I'm leaving." I can't tell if that second line referring to the sphere of "eSports" in quotes is meant to be sarcastic or not, but if it was, it's completely uncalled for.
It was only a few people that actually argued with him on that reddit thread, the majority of the community won't even know he's gone until, I don't know, next MLG?
Anyway, if Milkis reads this, just here to say: I appreciated the translations, and thanks for bringing MKP over. Don't be afraid to come back if you want to contribute later.

Couldn't agree more. It seems a little counter intuitive to make a thread about your leave. If you hate doing what you do so much then just go?

I like how your trying to play the victim when you (like djwheat said) said fuck you to every other game and it's legends. You wrote it, nobody put the words in your mouth.

Don't you think "good riddance to you sir" seems like a very rude thing to tell someone who's invested a lot of his own time in providing free content for this community. What content? He's a jumped up translator. He wasn't crying about the mob when he was leading the pitchforks against Alex Garfield who danced intellectual circles around his biased (borderline racist) opinion of the Puma "scandal" but made the mistake of criticizing Milkis openly which is the easiest way to sabotage even the most salient point and draw the ire of the community.
except that never happened. how alex garfield treated milkis was just plain offensive. they were on a show in the pretence of a friendly chat and yet milkis was treated by shit by 2 people who proclaimed to love the community, and yet it turned into a shit storm because garfield wanted to argue the rights and wrongs in a business sense, when milkis was just there to give a perspective. that whole episode was a peice of trash that i was embarrassed to watch.
milkis's post on reddit was right, broodwar is the only esport. maybe he didnt put it across very well, focusing too much on kespa, even if they are an important part of it. the tv channels, the international companies sponsoring teams in a serious way, the professionalism of the players and the companies. these are the kind of things you need if you want to be taken seriously by people who dont necessarily follow your sport.
DjWheat the fighting games last fucking airbender comes jumping in with an irrational and off the point remark. milkis wasnt shitting on communities, anything can have a community. we are talking about sports, lets stop calling it esports jesus. fighting games im sure have great communities, but 2 events a year that get a few thousand viewers isnt a sport is it? they lack corporate backing, a unified league body (the g7, even the members know its a fucking joke), the proffessionalism from the players in terms of how they act and how they train. the games are imbalanced beyond belief, the list goes on.
then second to this shitstorm rodeo we have zlasher, who has a history of knowing absolutely nothing about anything that he talks about. i dont know how his name ever got well known beyond "oh isnt that slasher? oh no its not" ill remember to ask for my name to be sirscoobs so people listen to my crappy opinions.
so much fucking bandwagon hating going on here. people rally to milkis's defence but then they see djwheat disagrees with him so they get to stab the kid in the back. all he ever did was work his ass off for this community, lending his abilities for free to help get shit done, the moment he has a bit of an emotional response to something and all his 'supporters' suddenly jump down his throat like bugs. fuck this shit, i cant believe one of the nicest guys on teamliquid is getting treated like shit by people who dont even know him.

he never wrote fuck you at all in his post, stop spreading lies. i would think you werent being literal but when you make a point of saying "you wrote it" and "nobody put the words in your mouth" i would assume you werent putting words in his mouth

l0l you derps have been criticizing Milkis? hes such an awesome member of the community. shame on you all.

Just wanted to say that for every 1 troll that post's something distasteful towards you or your opinions there is 100 lurkers who agree with you or really appreciate your work. It's just that people who troll or are angry tend to post alot more then people who actually support you.
Doing what you do requires a thick skin. Some people have it some people don't. I dunno is there a thick skin training program somewhere? military training maybe lol.
Anyways bye gosu translator

Sorry that the SCII community doesn't appreciate you but us BW guys still want you D: Also at the risk of getting flamed, the more you guys ostracize him the more you guys are proving him right that SC2 isn't an esport yo.

I mean on LiveOnThree Milkis stated several times that he didn't really know anything about the western eSport history, and that he more or less only knew about the Korean scene of Brood War, and then to go and make this post on Reddit just blabbering out ignorance and more or less spitting on everyone who've been associated with growing eSports in the west and the other major eSport games like Counter-Strike, Quake etc, and expect to people not to get offended?
He's well deserved of the criticism he's getting.

What I don't get is why Milkis even wrote/posted his controversial shitting-on-everything-esports-except-korean-BW article in the first place. o_o I almost have to wonder if he was looking for an excuse to leave the e-sports scene.
If he wants to do something else with his life, that's perfectly fine. It's his life to live and I wish him the best. I just don't understand why he thought it would be a good idea to essentially insult the entirety of the international e-sports industry and all the hard work that's been put into it. This isn't the first time he's done something to make me tilt my head sideways, either.

I wanted to do a lot of nice things for the community because I was capable of doing it and seeing you guys appreciate the content was always good enough. Why else would I take on any of these extra works, or brainstorm a ton of new things I could do for the community? Sadly, none of these will come to fruition anymore but I guess it doesn't even matter.
Why even mention these things at all? It's pretty obvious that you're upset, but more-so that you're extremely passive-aggressive and have some growing up to do.
Best wishes in other endeavors.

Hmm, you seemed to be alright, I did appreciate the Korean Twitter translates...
Thought the amount of money that was donated for the MKP Orlando thing to be pretty ridiculous and you seem to have just cried your self to sleep one night about how mean some people are. Comments like: "I guess it's good riddance for all of you. "
makes you sound like a complete dick. If that is how quickly you decide to turn your back on this E-Sport (after reddit comments), then good riddance.

Yes. People get mad that some famous ignorant guy says Brood War is the only esport is proof he's right. Congratulations on your flawless logic. It's more the lack of professionalism, especially from some prominent community members. Take a look at actual sports, if a person on a panel or something says something really controversial of course the average person is probably going to flame/cuss him out but people in other shows/panels who work in the field don't air their opinions in public like that. The fact that other people who represent the community are taking it completely personally. I just think it reflects bad on the starcraft community as a whole when they display such a lack of professionalism. Also I wonder how badly Korea is lulzing at how melodramatic the foreign scene is. Edit: Also 'us bw guys' != 'I represent the bw community' I'd think...

Basically, people are scared to form their own opinions and meekly follow figures like Wheat. Half of the comments between here and Reddit are just a rehash.
