Bad rulers are immortal. They are also apparently capable of swimming over the atlantic. my 7/7/6 ruler had a 3/3/3 heir. I think shit. I get the "a beloved heir dies" event. I gleefully pick the "In the arms of the Maid" option. I got a 3/3/3 heir with weak legitimacy. Awesome.

I seriously wonder where they get those guys. At the moment, i am more and more convinced that there is a clan of horribly incompetent vampirs who try to get into royal bloodlines, but are about as capable at ruling as a dead hamster. Also, they are (obviously) immortal.

Depends on the circumstances, with the right buildings/ideas/advisors/sliders, it's definitely possible to gain like one stability every two months. It's also possible with the wrong ones to take years for that same one stability gain.

But if your problem is only how to talk to Japan, you always need to talk to the daimyo in Kyoto, even if you want something from one of the shoguns. You should usually be able to get a seperate peace deal from them, but when i got there they never had any allies because noone liked them. You could also try asking manchu if they are the war leader, they have the power to give you occupied provinces (in a normal war at least, no idea how it works with japan) If, however, your problem is the bugged thing where you can't annex the last few provinecs, there are some things with spies that might help resolve this, but i am not really an expert. I just got it unbugged once, but i am not really sure how that worked, or if it would work again.

OPMing is the way of the force ♥

Noble Republics can have Personal Unions while they can have personal unions you can't claim crowns or anything like that. And while I would be perfectly happy with getting random PU's from my royal marriage spam (I got Castille from one of those as Albania, hilarity ensued) sometimes you need to claim crowns in order to get a lot of territory without huge infamy. As a side note PUs are a pretty broken mechanic, the AI never really fights you over it (although I did have a nice succession war against Prussia over Austria, that was pretty fun)

Don't judge me!) I don't think it's enough of an issue to be 'broken', although for all what I care, they might as well remove the random enheritance. On the other hand Royal marriages are almost not worth spending diplomats on unless there's a chance of something really great happening. Does anyone know why everyone's so horny on marriaging Austria, whereas if you play as France, Great Britain or Spain or something, even the countries with 200 relations never send requests T_T Has anyone tried if this still works if you have a different king than the Habsburgs?

So... I started as Holland and at first played a little around with european polticis (vassaled Brabant and Antwerpen... Had to cede Zeeland and Antwerpen to France later but could diplo annex brabant later). My mainfocus is actually colonising...so... How do I do this correct? I landed in NA and conquered the Natives there (all of them). Then I started to colonise along the boarder to middle America/SA and will take over the natives there... So far so clear. Now.. How do I colonise "effectively" the best way? 1: Do I colonise as many provinces as possible as fast as pssoible by keeping colonial maintenace very low (to not go bankrupt) ---> This would lock others out as good/long as possible and get later many cores that allow me to colonise more provinces whiteout sea access? 2: Colonise only a few provinces at once but keep maintenance at 100% to get more self sustaining provinces fast? 3: Should I go for "certain" really good provinces/areas (where?). Help would be nice.

I've never done it myself but I've heard of people doing it so it's worth a try

The AI will still send ships from Africa over South America up to you. good areas for colonization are caribbean islands Mexiko Inka west african coast for slave colonies so you get the 25% more colony income modifier Indonesia for the big spices money Brasil can be rewarding too
