Just a short Blog today from Revdime.
I wasn't sure exactly where to put this so I decided hopefully blog would be the best option.
In my opinion, this isn't really a carpal tunnel issue as it isn't exactly a pain in the wrist but more so as if my wrist just locks up after i try to push my apm more and more. I didn't notice this in the past when my apm was lower but now as i've been getting higher it's as if my apm has completely stagnated because I can't physically go faster.
I guess it would be on the ulna side of the wrist joint right above where the bone sticks out, (Pisiform). This is where the locking up feeling takes place.
Around 6 or 7 years ago I strained this wrist pretty severely falling down and it hasn't been the same since. I had pain along both sides of the wrist joint for around a year before it subsided. And while i'm glad that the pain is gone, i've had issues with it "locking up" lately when I game.
I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues which they've fixed, if it's possibly a more serious problem like carpal tunnel etc.
I can't think of a better way to define locking up at the moment but i'll try and put in an edit to be more specific. The closest feeling i can think of is working out where you just cannot do that last rep. I get to a point and i just cannot go any further.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.
EDIT: Just edited where it is on my wrist, should be right this time. I obviously don't know my wrist bones

This sounds like something you should really take to a doctor. If something's not working properly in a joint, do NOT mess around with it. My shoulder hasn't worked right in years because of ignoring an injury. If I drive a long distance, it will lock up after a while, and then start popping every 2-3 minutes.

You should probably see a doctor, especially if it's getting worse lately.

If you're experiencing any health problems, see a doctor.
But if you're experiencing loss of motion in any part of your body, I'd consider that a very series issue. Especially "locking up". This could be an issue with the muscles or the nerves, and only a doctor can tell you which it is. This can be very serious, and may require surgery. Ignoring this problem could potentially lead to permanent injury.
Avoid gaming until you see a doctor.

I used to have similar issues after playing a few games of Broodwar but wrist stretches helped me play longer as well as alleviate some pain, but really there was no magical cure for it apart from giving up the game completely.

Ya it looks like i definitely should look into it sooner than later, I've likely delayed it for a bunch of reasons which is first that im right handed and therefore it was easier to ignore if issues came up, second it's not painful anymore (bit of a dumb excuse, as someone mentioned above joint issues should not be taken lightly), Third I've been focusing on CSL where our team is 3-0 and ive been putting in so much time to help build the calgary community but a worsening wrist would not be optimal of course.
Ugh, tough decision..... I've been making so much progress in the past 3-4 months for my gameplay.
Maybe I should try stretching and see if being stiff at the start of gaming sessions causes more of it than anything and if it continues go to a doctor immediately.

I'm no doctor, but I do know that some sorts of injuries stop hurting because whatever was hurting has gone completely bust and you're about to start getting more serious, permanent injuries. Go see a doctor.

to me it sounds like its a lack of blood flow prob caused by the way you play. Try changing the height of your chair and possible a different desk/setup all together. youre lacking blood flow to your wrist which is prob causing the problem. also if you dont change something you can damage your cartilage enough to have surgery. Id say take a full week off for the inflammation to subside and then see if theres still pain or whatever. Hopefully its just something like that. maybe try 2 or 3 days if you cant wait.

Hello King Dime, I need to know if you could please UTube wrist locking and I'm the FIRST video. Can you tell me if that is what your experiencing? Or has your problem resolved. I'm very desperate. I've seen specialist and no one can help me and says I'm stuck with the swelling and pain and locking. Please let me know either way.
