Ok guys this is my first blog so have mercy on me :p I am writing this blog because I was wondering if anyone had an experience similar to this one. This past summer I played a ton of video games, they have always been a huge part of my life and really do mean a lot to me. My favorite video game in high school was COD4, so this summer me and my best friend were bored and decided to turn on our 360s and see if the magic was still there. Sadly it wasn't the game had been hacked to hell and there was no way to play a legit game. My friend was disappointed but no where near to the level i was at. The most fin nights I had during high school were when me and all my close friends would just stay up late play COD. I still remember all the things we would talk about and how me and my best friend mentioned above raced to get 10th prestige. I think the thing that affected me the most was that the magic and all the fun that I had when I was younger was gone, it hurt so much to see the thing that caused me so much joy as a kid to be just destroyed like it was. I mean I still play games even more than I did back then, but the joy I had back then is just not the same. EDIT: After reading some of the comments I decided to add this to the OP. COD4 really was the first game I played with people other than my family and it meant a lot to me to get the chance to hang out with someone other than my brother. However in terms of childhood nostalgia I immediately think of my gamecube and all the fun I had when I was little. Playing games like Luigis mansion, pikmin, Sonic Adventure 2, Tales of Symphonia (where my name came from:D), James Bond Nigthfire, and so many others. These games were all very important to me and gave me a lot of joy. But they didn't give me the bonding with different people that I first experienced from playing COD. So TL I am wondering has anything similar to this happened to you guys?

That you describe COD4 as part of your 'childhood' makes me feel so old.....

I wasn't aware you could hack on xbox. Then again CoD4 was the last time I regularly played a console.
Man I remember in middle school and high school getting 8 or 12 people and having epic lan fights on Blood Gulch on Halo 1. We.. we tried again some time around Halo 3.. it just wasn't the same. I blame the controllers.
Edit: no shit jinro -.- every day I read something and .. :|

I know exactly what you mean - I remember the rush I had when first getting into SCBW. Times change, things change. It's all part of life. Just remember that there will be more good times in the future.

I feel nostalgic when I play a game from 13 years ago. I sometimes put a game down for 2 years and pick it back up right where I left off.
I'm amazed this is so significant for you OP lol

I'm amazed this is so significant for you OP lol Well I think it means so much to me because before high school I really didn't have friends other than my brother. When i got to high school I was able to meet more people and it was the first time I could hang out with people other than family and just be myself and have fun.

Back when WC3 came out (I found my box recently. $60 new. hot damn.) I hopped on battle.net and had so much fun with the incredibly shitty hero arenas and TD's that people were churning out with the new editor. The novelty of some of the old WC3 custom games is something i haven't experienced in quite a while.

kinda cool but when I think of games from my childhood I think of Super Mario bro's for the Nintendo... >.<

You're not alone dude. I used to play RTCW on Xbox Live, played that game on and off for something like 5 years. During those years I must have spent at least 2 whole summers just playing the game everyday with the same group of people. It was so munch fun, I could just sit there and play 12hours a day for like 5 days straight without ever getting bored.
Good old times.

One thing I do feel nostalgic about is Unreal Tournament, played it from a young age, now its all dead. I see your point. Really enjoyed level design for that game, but games these days don't seem to come with modding tools

Oh nostalgia, why do you do this to us, why? Ruins every new game forever until death.

That he described COD4 being part of his childhood made me feel so sad...

I still play Civilization 2 sometimes, was just such a great game.
Also played Age of Empires 1 and 2 again a year ago, oh man i can still get chills when i think back at the first time i played Age of Empires 1, had so much fun. It was my first game i played online for hours and hours vs other people. Used to train vs 7 very hard AI on very small map, just to learn how to handle rushes and the chaos. Oh good times :-)
